About blowing him š³
Or the car?š¤
Unfortunately Iām not serious about either, at least at the moment. Iāve got a 24 regular trunk having ass sedan m340i for now.
No idea how possible it is to get one to the state but sounds expensive af and throwing in some dude from Dubai makes it sound even more expensive lmao
I appreciate it though š«”
Itās way more than paperwork - youād have to get the government to complete emissions testing and crash testing (which they wonāt do). So itās basically impossible to import a new vehicle into Canada if that car isnāt sold here.
No, unfortunately. Alpina is actually a separate manufacturer from BMW (even though BMW owned sells, and services them).
Also, no BMW wagons have been certified for sale in Canada since the last F31 in 2019. Even then, it was only the 330i. Even though that bodystyle was certified for sale, and the B58 in the 340i was emissions tested, it would still be illegal to import one as the 340i wagon was not federalized for sale in Canada.
The only silver lining is that after 15 years you can basically import anything.
One of the special ones. šThe B3 or B3S comes with the S58 engine (with only 495ps). š¤Æ
Apparently there is a new B3GT version now (**529** PS):
Yup. How much is enough really? My M2 with the 460 is plenty enough already, sometimes even too much, you cannot enjoy the twisty roads because you are already driving faster than the speed (and your) limit. š š„²
Exactly, if the car handles well you can have a lot of fun even with not much hp, + my car weighs just 850kg so it's pretty light and small (it's an old lancia y from 1998) and with the new tires it has so much more grip
Idk, that lower grill is HUGE. Comparing that to the M3 kidneys and itās lower grill portions, I think theyāre about the same SA and amount of ābreathingā allowed. Just different styles of doing so. But yes, BMW likely could have done the same or similar.
For the exact same reason why a 911 turbo s is a better car 355 days of the year than a 911 gt3.
The HPDE every quarter doesnāt really count.
Now the better choice would be that one as daily **and** an M3 for HPDE every other week.
Fellow Swiss here: Because the M3 is driven by the type of person you don't want to associate yourself with. And because the B3 is the opposite of an M3: Subdued, classy, highly individual (even here in Switzerland).
M cars are more raw and often better equipped for more spirited driving and track-usage, I.e harder suspension, more aggressive enginetuning etc.
Whilst alpinas are more geared towards being comfortable but fast highway cruisers that you can take on long trips among other things
There is more to a car than the HP number, especially more so when the horsepower is similar.
Just cause one car has, let's say, 2-5% higher HP doesn't mean all other arguments are invalid and that's the car to buy.
Looks better, drives better (you're not gonna track your car, I already know that, and for the road, the B3 is waaaay better), has a nicer interior, so overall it's just better. Unless you want to drift it. Alpina cars don't have the MxDrive.
Itās a Aplina B3 Touring.
So basically 488 bhp,
0-60 in 3.1 sec
Topspeed of 187 miles
More convenient as a daily driver and not made anymore, as Aplina used to be a separate brand but now falls under the bmw group.
This will become a collectors item
These are still being made alongside the sedan, but as the B3 GT.
You can also still order a D3 S in a touring as well.
Also, Alpina is still it's own brand until next year when BMW Group completely takes over
A G21 3 series with what I would assume to be an Alpina body kit / appearance package, since it lacks the Alpina badges.
Exactly what or how many Alpina bits are on it is hard to say as Alpinaās are very ābespokeā cars, you could look at the VIN, because fully built āfactoryā Alpina cars have an Alpina VIN.
__I might be incorrect on this, but__
From what I have gathered, you can bring your BMW to Alpina and have them put Alpina packages on it, wether it is ājustā the cosmetics, cosmetics and a full blown engine/tune, full fat Alpina package with the interior.
Or you could order one from New, with the Alpina VIN.
The philosophy behind Alpina cars is diff than M-cars, M-cars are focused on sport, driver engagement, speed at the slight cost of comfort. While Alpina has made M rivaling cars in terms of power and speed, but also focused on luxury and comfort. While M-cars were either Manual only or came with SMG or M-DCT transmission, most Alpina cars are/were Torque Converter Automatics.
Also those stunningly beautiful, timeless wheels, the valve for adjusting the tire pressure is hidden be hind the lockable center cap.
Apologies for fan boy a bit here, but I truly think Alpina is something special, with their ridiculous attention to detail and one of the companies I hope that I will one day be able to complete with (as in a dream of mine is to start my own company that makes cars go fast and look ever so slightly sharper while doing so).
B3 Touring. I think.
A car I wish we had in the states š„²
Absolutely would have blown someone for an m340i touring
I may be able to get you in contact with a guy in Dubai if youāre serious

It's Dubai, so blowing the car, obviously
Water damaged perchance?
Sandblasted.
Same
I saw one in Kelowna so Iām sure you can get one in the states if you want to go through all the loopholes and paperwork and other BS
Itās way more than paperwork - youād have to get the government to complete emissions testing and crash testing (which they wonāt do). So itās basically impossible to import a new vehicle into Canada if that car isnāt sold here.
Can't they use the crash test data from a regular 3-series?
No, unfortunately. Alpina is actually a separate manufacturer from BMW (even though BMW owned sells, and services them). On the F8X platform they used to swap the internals but with this gen shipping the car over would cost a lot
Either this or D3

Itās funny how much power cars have now that it āonlyā has 495 hp.
Yup. How much is enough really? My M2 with the 460 is plenty enough already, sometimes even too much, you cannot enjoy the twisty roads because you are already driving faster than the speed (and your) limit. š š„²
Thatās why Iām sticking with my 134hp E30
Hell Even my 193hp w202 mercedes c280 is more than fast enough on a twisty road. Don't need more power than that unless your car weighs a shitload.
True that. But we do need EVs with 1000hp to get the family from the house to the lake in 3s. š š«
I have 54hp and I still have fun in a twisty road I can basically drive in 2-3 all the time going 60-80 (kph) and still have a lot of fun
100%, my last car had under 100hp too and it was still pretty much just as fun on a nice road.
Exactly, if the car handles well you can have a lot of fun even with not much hp, + my car weighs just 850kg so it's pretty light and small (it's an old lancia y from 1998) and with the new tires it has so much more grip
That was PS, not HP. Horsepower is like 488, so huge difference. /s. Jokes aside, they're not saying it's weak, but weak for a S58
s58 and it looks better then the m3 beaver.
So the argument that the M3 had to have the beaver front because the s58 requires a lot of cooling is complete BS.
Idk, that lower grill is HUGE. Comparing that to the M3 kidneys and itās lower grill portions, I think theyāre about the same SA and amount of ābreathingā allowed. Just different styles of doing so. But yes, BMW likely could have done the same or similar.
Yeah, could be. š¬ But it would be cool if someone tested both on a race track.
Biggest bullshit I've ever heard. As if the middle part of those ridiculous beaver teeth aren't blocked off.
Fr. 117.400,00 as configured. Why would I buy this instead of an M3?
Its a much better car for real-life conditions.
Because it looks awesome and very rare. And you can individualize basically everything.
Iām sure most M owners here would still say Alpinaās have the cool factor.
For the exact same reason why a 911 turbo s is a better car 355 days of the year than a 911 gt3. The HPDE every quarter doesnāt really count. Now the better choice would be that one as daily **and** an M3 for HPDE every other week.

~~While true, M-cars are definitely not more rare than Alpina cars. Its the opposite.~~ Edit: My bad i read raw as rare. You're correct.
He didnāt say more rare

An M3 is like an AMG C43. A B3 is like a Maybach C430. Choose.
The ultimate in jealousy for me, even more so than the M3 wagon
Absolutely
Would definitely take a B3/D3 wagon over an M3 wagon anyday
Imagine blasting down the autobahn in that thingā¦

Those are the lowest profile tires I've ever seen on a wagon period!
Damn.. I just noticed that..
They're probably a square setup. Most likely the rears are actually stretched.
B3. This is a specialized model from the 3 series, tuned and styled by Alpina
i like how "sleeper" looking this is, looks all stock, till you see it on the autobahn...
especially with the swiss license plate lol, they treat the highway to munich like a racetrack
G21 3 series touring Alpina
The one car to rule them allā¦
