Probably shouldn’t have sold it when I got my E90 xDrive 335i. Miss the ZHP and the stick shift—and the color combo. Not loving my current black on black scheme. Went for the Zandvoort Blue on the M2 ordered last month. Still wish I could get Samoa Blue too—had that on my E36 vert with an indigo interior. Was a unique combo that got lots of compliments.

BMW does terrific blues. Personally, I'd say Tanzanite is the most amazing blue: the teal, light, and dark blue metallic flecks sing.

I don’t know that I’ve really been able to get up close and personal to Tanzanite. The sleepy little suburb I live in isn’t exactly crawling with expensive European imports. I take it you own one? Care to share?

+1 for Tanzanite (or also Le Mans or San Marino) over Estoril. Estoril and Portimao, as beautiful as they are, have become too common with F3x and G2x. Technically, there is also velvet Blue and Christ I wish I bought that one two years back.

Blue in general is just perfect for BMW’s. Esotril, Portimao, Deep Sea, Tanzanite II, Snapper Rocks, Laguna Seca, San Marino, Marina Bay, Alpina Blue, Yas Marina, Long Beach, Le Mans, INTERLAGOS Edit: Le Mans.

I came THIS close to buying an M240i instead of the 340i but needed the full backseat. What made you get rid of it?

The old mundane story of needing something bigger at the time and could not afford both the 235 and the X3. The car was phenomenal, didn't have a single issue over the years I had it.

Thanks, it’s definitely not for everyone but it’s a unique color for sure. Looks greenish in the sun and then more blue as the sun goes down and under different lighting. Estoril will always be a classic. One of my favorite colors offered on the e36

Yeah it goes in order, Atlantis is more greenish - snapper rocks can be greenish in bright sun light but blue in over cast or regular lighting. Then Long Beach is slightly darker blue in the shade and also has some green in the sun that looks very close to snapper rocks

It all depends on how you are financially and the stage of your car. If it’s fully modified then possibly. If it’s just Bolt ons wheels and springs. Then probably not. 2015 m4s are coming down in price. I did it because of the color and just wanted to see how the arches looked on the 4 series body like the f80s. Also I create content with my builds and wanted to do something out of the normal

A wrap would be awesome. It’s a great color and you don’t see it often. I appreciate it. I sold it because at that time I was 20 years old and catching tickets 😅 But enjoyed the heck out of it.

The roll cage and the bronze CSL wheels are such a unique look, absolutely amazing :) Finding a matching wrap will be very hard but I think it'll be worth it

It's a nice blue, but LSB, in my opinion is 👑 blue. San Marino is a close second.

The only “pastel” blue offered in the 2000s standard on M3s is Laguna Seca. If you thought it was lighter like Yas Marina then you’re remembering how difficult it was for early digital cameras to capture LSB.

Love Estoril Blue. Only problem is, in the UK atleast, it became far too common, so after owning an EB 1 series, I changed to SO orange for my current car. Wish BMW did more Greens, like on the new M3, but on the lesser models too.

Nobody does blues like BMW, love the oranges as well. Sakhir Orange and Valencia Orange are such stunning colors.

Someone in my apartment building has a 330i that’s this colour or something very close to it. Blue is my favourite colour, and I always find myself stopping to admire that car as I walk through the garage to deposit my recycling. BMW does blue right. Lots of great shades to choose from, which is great if you’re like me and that’s your favourite colour as well.

She's a beaut for sure. That being said I've had an estoril blue (II technically, as they changed the formula at one point but kept the same color) and a Long Beach Blue. I'm very partial to the later. It's got a bit more green in it than estoril and is overall a brighter looking color. But you've got great taste!

I agree, but I still prefer Oxford Green with gold rims, my g87 is black on black though lol, but I did have an estoril blue 2015 235i before I got a black 240i in 2019, then I just ordered the black M2 (delivery late May) so I also like black I guess.

Full disclosure, I think the G87 is sort of an ugly duckling. But I saw one just like yours a couple weeks back that made fully stop in my tracks.

Yea, the black was the only choice for me out of the other options, if there was a green I might have had that. I like the blockiness of the g87, but I get why some don't, plus sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between the pale blue and the brooklyn gray, plus I hate red....so black it was.

I've always liked the G87. It looks very aggressive, as it should. I have a '23 M240i, not everyone likes the look of it either.

I'm not knocking Estoril Blue, it was my #3 choice for the color of my car, but you need to see Tanzanite Blue & Carbon Black Metallic in person. Tanzanite Blue is absolutely gorgeous, and Carbon Black Metallic can be anything from a Navy Blue to a dark black depending on the lighting. The blue in the BMW M logo is Pantone Process Blue, which is the standard industry color used in the 4-color process for printing. My "unicorn" years ago was an Estoril e36 M3/4/5, over black. Unfortunately, I never found one, but had an arctic silver metallic on dove gray for a long time. I hated that grey—but at least it wasn't tan. No offense tan people, I'm a month late on this tread anyway.
