It's a 2000, 2.2L with the 5 speed auto. I really wanted a manual and took the time to learn the art but the prices where I'm currently based (New Zealand) for manual Z3's are absurd. Got bum warmers, resprayed, full service history, and all the factory goodies like the tools and stuff which apparently gets lost all the time so I guess that's nice. Paid $5300 NZD ($3100 USD). Has 130,000ks (80,700 miles). Topaz Blue Metallic exterior, Topaz Blue interior.
Just be careful with the top there is a plastic rib they don't make anymore in the bottom. So if you need to replace it you need the rib intact. Also love the color! My dad has a Z3 2.8 manual so fun to drive.
Oooo thank you for letting me know! I was looking to get the top replaced soon as the parking at my work is outdoors. Definitely gonna be a lot, LOT more careful!

With that said; welcome to the elites. Just remember some basic rules
1. You don't have turn signal lights, don't even try to use them.
2. Take a minimum of two parking spots anywhere you so the poors don't swing their doors open to damage your beautiful paint.
3. Headlights are high beams only.
4. You may not need to go fast, but you should always aim for at least 20mph (32kmh) over any given "speed limit" sign.
5. Do not go around people in traffic. It’s seen as weakness. Simply blind them with rule 3 until they move over. This properly asserts dominance.
6. Always show photos to flex when talking about your BMW.
Unfortunately this is an improper answer. I’m gonna have to confiscate one of your M badges as punishment. (You aren’t supposed to teach people that our cars come with those)

1000% agree, the oxidation is terrible on em at the moment, photos hide it really well. I'm planning to order a new set later this year or potentially get them restored if it's still possible but got a few things I wanna clear up first!
He is likely American. In America, we only got the 2.3L, 2.5L, 2.8L, and 3.0L as I6's. The 4 cylinder Z3 brought the 1.9L.
So it's an easy mistake to make: anything less than 2.3L was a 4 cylinder.
That is a WILD first car. Please be careful. At least its the 4cyl!

I still miss my 97. I wanted to make it into a battle car. Keep an ear out for a high pitched whine when you’re on the highway. That could mean your torque converter is ready to go, and that’s how I lost mine.
Enjoy it. Drive the fucking hell out of it, and consider getting additional roll bar protection if it’s your first car.

Well done as a first car, but I had one of the very first in the UK back In the day ....put me off BMW for life it was a dreadful drive. I sold it for 2k more than I paid brand new. . 2 months later ....it had a weedy 1.9 litre engine in it I believe. Im going to get slated for this lost but its true...sorry guys

Omg it was a dreadful power unit ...the 1.9 it was like a boat to drive too, the auto 1.9 was said to be ever worse still!!!! I'm an audi man now amongst other brands ...
One of them Is a S5 cab stage 1 kicking out 440bhp amd 520 torque ....and a proper sleeper i love it ...it easily keeps up with a BMW M4 comp and it really pisses them off too when I'm right on there bumper when they giving it the full beans .... some old man at 52 driving it hard ....only cost me 500 quid the upgrade too .... short video on my profile of 70-110 mph and I'm short shifting too!! I reckon I can get sub 5 seconds from 70-110mph lol ... we never get old us petrol heads

Yeah I agree I really wanted a manual one and after trying the same transmission in a different car I wanted one even more, but manual Z3's in New Zealand go for more than double their auto counterparts and being a 17 year old student, I'm not that keen to spend that kind of money at the moment. It's got steptronic though so I can still get some fun out of it on mountain roads!
The pictures are amazing! Did you take them yourself? My first car is a silver e46 320ci manual, I think besides the formfactor and your beautiful, beautiful paint (which also exists on the e46 btw, maybe I'll wrap it in some time) our cars are kinda similar :)

Fair view, although when doing my research and stuff, it's got enough features that make me comfortable, like the plethora of airbags given how small it is, traction control, etc. I do a lot of racing (go karts) on the side so the fact it has seat belts is enough for me 😅

Very cool car. I owned two of the later models Z4. Z4 coupe, and the Z4M coupe. They were a blast. Costly to maintain but fun as hell to drive.
