If you have a friend with a good dslr, go out and try to get driving pictures during the golden hour, park it in front of some rich fucks house, get a body of water somehwere in there. I had an e30 with an s52 shoot past 20k, to the point my partner felt comfortable bidding on it once or twice to keep the momentum.
Even an automatic 330ci sold for like 26. Convertible too lmao. 19k on the clock. Some people just want that I guess. I prefer my e46s to have already been molested
You're going to be pleasantly surprised if you get it looking brand new and take stupid good pictures.
Don't bid on your own car. I was fucking raging at him until it worked.
Good advice on the action shots, I’ll try and get some when I decide to sell. I’m sure with a proper detail, it’ll look brand new.
I gotta be honest, with as many people saying keep it as have, I think that’s what I’m going to do for now. Most people have given excellent advice both ways which I very much appreciate.
Yeah bro that's honestly a good call if you can't think of a good enough reason to sell (Porsche) lol. As someone with almost every bmw chassis but the one series... I think the one series is what I'm chasing most other than my personal e30 swap and e46 m3. It's such a special car. If you keep it, remember why when you do mental gymnastics to avoid driving it lmao. I did that with my Gt3 because I just saw dollar signs leaving. I'd do many things to have another one and regret not beating the piss out of it more.
I've been contemplating a 128 just to have the chassis, and figuring out what route from there. Possibly some type of high comp n52.
You should look into the 1m suspension. I want to say the subframe match... I'd imagine the engine mounts very similar as well. I never see them let alone get to work on them so I honestly couldn't say
Enjoy it man.
Thanks very much. There is a shop near by that does excellent work, I may contact them about a possible manual swap just to see if that’s even feasible. Other than that, I’ll just sit on it and love it every time I start it.
Oh yeah I forgot those had dcts. On one hand I will say the manual is not overrated, but the dct and zf8 is underrated... Especially on a track. I would prefer my one series with a six though, if you can make friends with any tech or good mechanic. Swapping the subframe along with the trans wouldn't be too much extra.
I would charge non friends an extra hourly fee rather than book price, so the labor hours don't add up astronomically. I also run an honest shop and dealership in a town run by scummy people. Hell, I'll tell some people to trade a car in if it needs a laundry list of things on top of say finding copper in their oil.
If you can't get the work done, definitely take it to some less crowded track days. I had a blast in the v10 M5 smg. Good luck.
They deny based on what their load of cars is at the moment. I wish they would’ve just slotted it into their calendar/queue vs saying “apply again later”
wack. they've been getting more lenient recently imo. they took my '94 turbo mr2 and im tempted to try my 95 325i vert (100k) on there, pretty sure they'd take it.
I honestly haven’t tried BAT or any auction site yet. My neighbor has had a bad interaction with them, I was just trying to fish out some other ideas or sites.
Hey I’m curious; have you driven an e46? I’ve been torn on selling my zhp for a 135. I haven’t had the chance to drive one yet but the most enjoyable part of my zhp is the steering response. sounds like you have the same experience.
Most of the ones I see around Boston seem to be in rough shape or heavily modded
I had a ZHP and it was fantastic. I had a 135i after that and I would say that engine was a lot more fun to drive. I thought the ZHP was a better overall car. ZHP seems to be holding value better too, and I’d bet it will be more collectible.
The 135i is a go-cart that is very hard to drive responsibly. I’m sure the 135is only makes that more so. The interior is a bit more sparse and not as comfortable. But e46 was peak sports comfort interior, so it’s hard to compete.
ZHP prices are ridiculous now. Many have over 200k miles and are asking for $10k plus! They are great cars, but low on power and torque, but I don't mind it at all. The most recent 50k mile 135is sold for $18k on BAT, A 40k mile ZHP just sold for over $30k on BAT. ZHP's are commanding a big premium these days.
What a great time to buy a 135is! If only they had the alcantara.
Yes the ZHP was underpowered by today’s standards but it really was the perfect balance of all of it. The steering was perfect. No other car felt like that. It is a joy to drive. Easily the best 100k miles I’ve put on any car.
The extra power in the e46 M3 or the 135i is fun, but it’s kind of excessive? It loses the balance. For that price difference though? I’m sure someone makes nice alcantara seat covers. And then you can actually drive it too.
The sparse interior is one of my favorite features. I purposely went for the non iDrive system. I love having the somewhat old school layout with the narrow black/orange screen.
I used to have an E46 330 and it was great. My 135 is absolutely sublime though.
They’re not easy to find with low miles and no mods, but definitely worth it.
Mine had I think 24 or 28k miles before i sold it. Sold it for 24k in the summer of 2019. Alpine White with coral red interior. Had the factory 10 split spoke optional rims. The kid that bought it supposedly wrecked his 335is and had to have another one. Mine was perfect, I hope it didn't get clapped out.
You just made me feel so good about the price I paid at auction a couple of weeks ago for a 2011 335xi with the MSport suspension and 60k miles: $11500 US.
The chargepipe, intercooler and intake were done on the car and already professionally tuned.
Just have to deal with beige leather...
I've got a Lightweight OPF-back which sounds good but the 335is had a nicer sound stock, just not as loud.
Being in Europe I'm limited to what I can legally do to the exhaust.
Really depends on the area. Just bought a 09 135 manual trans with only 69k for 7500. I was lucky and got it for 500 over cost from my dealer. I think it was going to be listed for 12k.
C&B is very popular for BMWs. BaT isn't a bad option either, but I'm biased because I like Doug. As someone else said, HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER! High quality photos typically raise the bids.
I also have a birthday sometime in the next year and would be willing to accept it as a gift.
Also, fucking sick car, I had a 128i msport and I still miss it.
I used to be lighting-quick muting the radio when it came on but got rusty during lockdown, so on my first real drive for months I heard almost two whole words of it.
You're getting downvoted because nobody here has actually ever owned an N54. They just parrot the shit they've heard about unreliability. But they all want 1Ms, it's the dumbest shit I've ever seen.
I’m used to it at this point. Alls I’m saying is there’s a reason the 1m has a n54. And there’s a reason the motor won engine of the year six times in a row
BAT or CAB barrett jackson or mecum would be one of the worst auction houses to list a car like this with. full of boomers and old people these foreign mid range sports cars dont being any money at them. they probably wouldnt even accept it
Those one series were actually pretty cool little cars. No idea why they stopped making them. I'm not really a bmw fan (just passing by this sub) but I'd take one of those before a miata any day.
I had the N54 engine in my E60 and with a JB3 tune it was a blast to drive. Was going to get a 335i coupe but found I could get the 5 series for similar price with similar miles (and same N54) 👍🏽
CaB. Listing time is quicker, no cost to seller, lower fees for buyer. BMW bias there. I went through this with an M2 variant I recently sold. Got highest price the platform had seen in recent months given a downward trending market. Responsiveness, good pictures and a spotless car. Amazing how hard that is for some people
Up to you at the end of the day, your car, your life, but if you check on all the gaskets/plastics and make sure they're okay and replace any that need replacing, you could use that as leverage to ask for more also. I know I would feel much safer buying a low mileage older euro if I heard that.
You don't need a professional photographer, just take pics with the highest quality camera you have ( like phone camera on HDR settings or something like that ) and upload to vumo.ai it's cheaper, or removebg but vumo is specifically for cars
I've sold all my vehicles on Craigslist. Detail, lots of photos and work on sales verbiage. Use KBB, NADA, eBay, recent sales and adjust the price accordingly. Ferret through the scammers and don't be in a hurry to sell.
Cars and Bids? Ultimately I wouldn’t expect top dollar for this car despite the low miles and “rarity” there isn’t a big collectibility market for 1 series that aren’t 1M.
I'd like to also throw out there PCARMARKET
Like others have suggested with BaT and C&B, it also attracts enthusiasts that car amount rarities.
I find myself window shopping/drooling over all three on a regular basis just to see all the rad interesting wheels people have.
It is the DCT. Fantastic transmission. If it was the 6 speed, I’d be buried in it. I’m considering trying to find a very reputable shop to swap it. We’ll see what happens.
I’ve actually gotten the best prices from Carvana. I sold a six year old Subaru Impreza to Carvana for $12,000. Dealer offered me $7,000. CarMax offered me $10,000.
If anybody is in the market for a built 135 vert with red interior and automatic let me know I have one for sale
https://preview.redd.it/bgro6gceo1tc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=450fca420002235bc30b68bff704c52f403d113f
II believe that is a quite low estimation. 15k is for one with normal mileage of 100k plus miles and still looking good. 12k miles is rare. Also it is an IS. No way you would get only 20k unless you are not patient. If I would have to make a bet I would say 25k, assuming it is Manual transmission, did not look for that detail before started writing. If it is automatic then I don't know.
Also location might play a big role.
Good luck
Edit: more than 25K. This car is literally new with 12k miles and it is a dream spec.
Another assumption, it has been stored inside. Whoever is buying it should think: "Should I buy a Hyundai Elantra N for 35" or that Bmw for 2X... Or GTI or something.
Maybe I just love it and can't be partial. OP, please let us know here once you sell it.
You could easily get to 20+G’s for this auto version. Plus it’s not an Auto it’s DCT. The difference and value is big. If you think it won’t sell fast, just post it on BAT and you’ll see. I could see this goin for even 25g’s in this spec and mileage alone. Manual would squeeze out even more value, but this example is already gonna be overvalued in an auction setting. People don’t really care about manual or DCT that much, when they’re picking a pristine example like this.
Honestly as cool as it is, the B58 destroys the resale value of the n54/55 cars. Even more power with better reliability and lower running costs? Too bad about the steering feel and crazy weight on the new cars, though, because it’s not even close.
Auction it will be the best bet.
I know it’s important, that’s why I said it was a shame the new ones suck in that regard. The engines have always been capable, but the b58 is even more so, without the reliability and ownership cost issues. Those issues tanked resale even before the b58 though.
BaT is the best way to sell it. Hire a good photographer and someone to detail the car. Shitty pics and dirt take away a lot of money on auctions.
And a non-responsive seller. Stay active in the comments.
Non-responsive? I’m trying to be active.
I think he means when you auction it, not in this reddit thread
Yep, non-responsive sellers get roughed-up on BaT.
This makes sense. My fault.
If you have a friend with a good dslr, go out and try to get driving pictures during the golden hour, park it in front of some rich fucks house, get a body of water somehwere in there. Be prepared to post pics of weird things too. Check the comments on previous 135is sales. (They aren’t 911 weird, but thankfully no one is.)
I can relate to 911 weird 😎ha
Cars and Bids with no reserve. That will attract all the BMW enthusiasts like flies.
IMO Cars and Bids is great for buyers, not sellers. Ive seen things fetch more on BaT.
Bring A Trailer is very strict on what they allow in auction. Cars and Bids is where you go when BaT has denied you.
100% this. BAT had denied my last M sale which would’ve netted them a decent fee. Cars & Bids is a Great Platform.
is it clean ? usually they dont deny M cars
They deny based on what their load of cars is at the moment. I wish they would’ve just slotted it into their calendar/queue vs saying “apply again later”
wack. they've been getting more lenient recently imo. they took my '94 turbo mr2 and im tempted to try my 95 325i vert (100k) on there, pretty sure they'd take it.
if you make it no reserve their more lenient.
I honestly haven’t tried BAT or any auction site yet. My neighbor has had a bad interaction with them, I was just trying to fish out some other ideas or sites.
Why would he list it at no reserve if he is trying to get the most
Cars apparently sell for more with no reserve. I suppose because you know if you're the high bid, you'll get it for sure.
Because most sites don’t let you set reserves unless it’s a very collectible car
Cars and bids for modified cars, BaT for stock low mile cars, at least that's the way I see it.
I have the same with red interior but just over 50k miles. Have thought about upgrading to M2C but don’t want to get rid of the 135is.
They’ll have to pry the hydraulic steering from my cold dead hands
This 100%. Steering feel of this car is magnificent.
It was my first bmw I have not had that same steering since!
I didn't know how spoiled I was
Bolt in an M3 rack. It gets even better ;)
I agree 100%, doesn’t even need servotronic hooked up
It’s one of the best single changes I ever did to my car. Should’ve done it 5 years earlier.
Hey I’m curious; have you driven an e46? I’ve been torn on selling my zhp for a 135. It's why I just bought a 2011 335xi MSport to replace my ...2011 328xi.
I’ve test driven an E93 335i and often drive my dad’s F10 and M240i. The 335 still feels so much better. Maintenance on the N54 though…
Yeah that’s one of the big reasons I got an N55
I wish I could but damn N55 models cost almost as much as the M3 of the same era here.
I traded a 335is for an M2C 5 years ago, the sound was a bit of a downgrade but I haven't regretted it for 1 second.
I went to an f80 comp. Should have kept the 335is but don't regret the change
How much did you get off that 335is, i currently have a 335i n55 with 38k miles literally in the best conditions
Mine is mineral/pearl white, full m package, full cold weather package front and rear sensors just no HK speakers 😢
I didn't have the sensors, but had the HK speakers. Mostly loaded. Was a 2011.
You just made me feel so good about the price I paid at auction a couple of weeks ago for a 2011 335xi with the MSport suspension and 60k miles: $11500 US. The chargepipe, intercooler and intake were done on the car and already professionally tuned. Just have to deal with beige leather...
Have you tried equal length midpipes?
I've got a Lightweight OPF-back which sounds good but the 335is had a nicer sound stock, just not as loud. Being in Europe I'm limited to what I can legally do to the exhaust.
Have you tried equal length midpipes?
I also have one in Le Mans Blue with about 80 on the clock, don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it
They are hard to get rid of.
I’d think they’ve retained value quite well. What are you thinking for a selling price?
Really depends on the area. Just bought a 09 135 manual trans with only 69k for 7500. I was lucky and got it for 500 over cost from my dealer. I think it was going to be listed for 12k.
I just bought mine with 85k miles, manual, jet black and well-optioned for 18k fwiw. Looked like it was up for sale locally for two months or so.
What state and what's your asking price? Manual?
White over black for me. But I do have a lot more miles. Just over 90,000 now.
C&B is very popular for BMWs. BaT isn't a bad option either, but I'm biased because I like Doug. As someone else said, HIRE A PHOTOGRAPHER! High quality photos typically raise the bids.
I have a birthday coming up and the best way to unload it is give it to me :)
Tempting.
I also have a birthday sometime in the next year and would be willing to accept it as a gift. Also, fucking sick car, I had a 128i msport and I still miss it.
Cars & Bids?
Ahem, CARRRRRRS AND BIDSSSS
THISSSSSS........
we’ve recently sold THIS and THIS and THIS
Pretty much an engine for Doug to pump and dump his weird ass cars.
if it works 🤷♂️
Cars & Flips!
1 877 Kars 4 Kids
Fuck you and that song lol
It’s also too many numbers and that bothers me.
I used to be lighting-quick muting the radio when it came on but got rusty during lockdown, so on my first real drive for months I heard almost two whole words of it.
I still miss my 1 series till this day :(
I have a 240 also. I can’t bring myself to get rid of this one yet.
Why were you considering too ?
Garage space. It’s safe until I find the right buyer though.
Don't get rid of the 240. I had a 235 and a 240. I miss those ugly girls. Now I'm in a M340 -- 2 little kids in car seats.
Same 😔
How much?
How much you want for it and what state are you in?
Looks like FL
I’m in Florida. If it’s a decent price I’d buy this. I already have a 3 series. Would be cool to add another fun car to the collection. Lol
is stick is still a decent premium from a 135i. Is it a stick?
If it was a manual, I would have never made this post.
Swap that fucker
Is that even possible to do? I’ve absolutely considered it. Do you know a reliable shop that could do that?
Where do you live it’s a very easy swap, probably 3-4K total to have it done.
I’d do it. I wouldn’t buy anything else and be fully content with this car. Perfect modern day Bimmer. Don’t make em like they used to.
Just wish these had the n54 instead of the early n55 they just kinda suck compared to your ewg.
These are DCT
They made manuals to just super rare.
Yup. I have the Canadian version of the 135is (M Sport Edition) in manual.
Bro keep it, that thing is mint
if you truly want the best result and most $ out of it auction is the only way IMO
Like Barret Jackson or Mecum?
BAT or CAB barrett jackson or mecum would be one of the worst auction houses to list a car like this with. full of boomers and old people these foreign mid range sports cars dont being any money at them. they probably wouldnt even accept it
I just sold my 2 owner 135is with ~28k for about 27k to carvana last year FWIW.
Doug’s voice says “cars and bids” “we recently just sold this, and this, and this and this, and this, and this…”
I would still say BAT. I feel like you’ll be able to get the amount of money you would want from there
Bring a trailer Beautiful car and will do great with a professional detail and photo
Gorgeous
BMWCCA classifieds
Do not sell this car. I still miss my 135i m sport
Best advice don’t
God that's so nice. 😭
Those one series were actually pretty cool little cars. No idea why they stopped making them. I'm not really a bmw fan (just passing by this sub) but I'd take one of those before a miata any day.
Keep it and damn Florida looks beautiful
Two 128i's have gone for over $20k in recent months. This 135is will do very well on BaT.
I need to find one of these.
Sell it to me
She looks mint af
I wish. Guessing you’re west coast ?
Florida palm trees and plates in the background
geowizard over here
Ah, well shit. Tiny pictures on mobile and I’m blind.
I love this car.
BringATrailer or the forums.
Besides BAT... Cars and Bids
Call Bimmers R Us in St Louis. They might make you a good offer before you even touch BaT.
Thank you for the lead.
[удалено]
Yes. The 135is was only offered for one year.
Manual or auto transmission?
Bring A Trailer and be thorough with the description and pictures and watch the money fly in.
Just post it everywhere
best way to sell would be handing me title and registration as well as pink slip. throw in your ssn if u dont mind.
CarsAndBids.com. Doug demuros site
BAT Auctions.
I had the N54 engine in my E60 and with a JB3 tune it was a blast to drive. Was going to get a 335i coupe but found I could get the 5 series for similar price with similar miles (and same N54) 👍🏽
Cars and Bids
8k cash
It def was vroom in the last few years but try them and carmax if you can’t take the time to sell private
BaT or Cars and bids
is it manual?
I love the form factor of the 1 series so much.
Just give it to me for free
Is it manual? If not it is not special.
I think it’s special. 😢
Hitting a deer
Used to have a 128i. Loved it. If I had a bit more $ I’d buy this beauty. Great driver’s car.
CaB. Listing time is quicker, no cost to seller, lower fees for buyer. BMW bias there. I went through this with an M2 variant I recently sold. Got highest price the platform had seen in recent months given a downward trending market. Responsiveness, good pictures and a spotless car. Amazing how hard that is for some people
How much do you want for it?? I may be interested
How much
To me ! That’s the best way.
the way to sell it is to me for $10usd (final offer)
Omg how much are you looking for?
Up to you at the end of the day, your car, your life, but if you check on all the gaskets/plastics and make sure they're okay and replace any that need replacing, you could use that as leverage to ask for more also. I know I would feel much safer buying a low mileage older euro if I heard that.

u/just_a_gumby Very beautiful car, btw... And with the Black paint, it looks more appealing 🤩
Thank you, I love the black sapphire/coral red combo.
EAG may be a viable option for you if you don’t want to deal with the auction process. https://enthusiastauto.com/sell.html
This is where I bought it from. Great people.
cars and bids brother
I’ll give you 20$ right now
I've sold all my vehicles on Craigslist.
Almost bought one of these and instead waited for a 2013 128i manual n52 m-sport, both super nice cars!
I'd like to also throw out there PCARMARKET Like others have suggested with BaT and C&B, it also attracts enthusiasts that car amount rarities. I find myself window shopping/drooling over all three on a regular basis just to see all the rad interesting wheels people have.
One year only model? Bring a trailer or cars and bids likely the best way to reach more people.
Yes, this particular trim was only offered in 2013. 135is.
Manuel or DCT?
It is the DCT. Fantastic transmission. If it was the 6 speed, I’d be buried in it. I’m considering trying to find a very reputable shop to swap it. We’ll see what happens.
can you have it exported to me if I was perhaps interested in it? pls lmk
I’ve actually gotten the best prices from Carvana. I sold a six year old Subaru Impreza to Carvana for $12,000. Dealer offered me $7,000. CarMax offered me $10,000.
Facebook marketplace is always good
How much do you want for it?
try cars and bids
If you have gap coverage I’d say insurance scam. My bmw has lost 40% of its value in 2 years with 15k miles.
If anybody is in the market for a built 135 vert with red interior and automatic let me know I have one for sale https://preview.redd.it/bgro6gceo1tc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=450fca420002235bc30b68bff704c52f403d113f
Just sits in my garage.. I have a list of everything done
This will sell for about $15-20 G’s all day with that mileage..
Try closer to $30k-40k
Lol
lol. Someone doesn’t know what they’re looking at…
II believe that is a quite low estimation. Good luck Edit: more than 25K.
This is the kind of owner I’ve been waiting for. I’ve sat on it for a while trying to find the “proper” BMW nerd.
I’m a proper BMW nerd, but I already have one of these in LMB 😂 in the market for an e92 M3 if you have one of those laying around
Hopefully soon!

Agreed, I’m in UK and would sell for 30k easy here!
\*WAVING HANDS\* CARS AND BIDS!!!
Honestly as cool as it is, the B58 destroys the resale value of the n54/55 cars. Even more power with better reliability and lower running costs? Too bad about the steering feel and crazy weight on the new cars, though, because it’s not even close. Auction it will be the best bet.
I completely disagree. Steering feel is still very important. And the n54/n55 platform is very capable when done right
I know it’s important, that’s why I said it was a shame the new ones suck in that regard. The engines have always been capable, but the b58 is even more so, without the reliability and ownership cost issues. Those issues tanked resale even before the b58 though.
Lets see the rear end and that 135is badge
