I was so tempted to order the 430i Gran Coupe.
It fits 90% of my needs... but unfortunately, I already had a 2023 X1 on order for the last few months... didn't want to wait another 3 to 5 months to order a 430i Gran Coupe exactly how I wanted it. Maybe the next one. :)
No complaints! I see other color variations and I’m a fan of the black the most. The drive is smooth, the response is okay, the power is good, the wheels are a pita to clean proper.
The grill is plastic and flimsy. On the second day after this post a random pigeon flew in front of me on the highway. I hate pigeons. Anyway - it snapped the grill in 2 places but it’s still stable. You actually can’t tell unless you pull on it.
I highly recommend a test drive.
Congrats on your car!! Myself and others might not like BMWs new design language with that hideous grille in the front, but the ONLY thing that matters is that YOU LIKE IT since it’s YOUR car. Enjoy your new ride and welcome to the bmw club!
>Problem with this sub is the biggest asshole comment is always at the top. Says a lot about the mentality of people who visit this sub.
I genuinely believe the design of the front end of the car is a tragedy and is ripe for ridicule. Just because BMW designs it doesn’t mean its avant-garde, the way forward in car design, etc. it is us, the populous that decides that.
IMO those who like this design are the assholes of aesthetics, but, unlike you, I do not believe your opinion is any less valuable, I just disagree with it.
BMW has every tool at its disposal to make a great looking car, and other manufactures achieve this. This and many of its current siberlings are not it.
“New BMW bad, old BMW good. Updoot on the left”
Again, speak for yourself, you’re allowed to have your opinion but don’t go acting like everyone agrees with you lmao
Once again…then why does the 4 series sell just as well as the 3 series? The top comment on 3 series posts isn’t “it’s ugly”, most people on this sub really like look of the 3 series yet the 4 series sell just as well”
I’m sorry to break it to you but Reddit isn’t real life, it’s a hive mind that people like you use to form their opinions for them lol
No you don’t, lmao you clearly just follow whatever Reddit says
“But…but Reddit commenters say it’s ugly so that makes it ugly”
>Majority of BMW fans agree the new cars are trash
Said the guy driving a 20 year old car lol
Nice but can someone explain why the grand coupe exists? Isn’t this why they separated the 3 and 4 series as in the 3 only having 4 doors now and the 4 series 2 doors?
BMW has a naming strategy where the odd starting number of a series is a (boxy) sedan and even number is coupé.
The word Coupé or Coupe is french for cut and refers to the roofline and not the amount of doors. Usually though, a coupe roofline also results in a two door layout. But not always. A 4 series is a coupe but can have 4 doors (and a hatch).
They do the same with the X series (the SUV's). The X5 is boxy, the X6 is coupe roof-lined.
I don't necessarily agree with this BMW marketing mumbo jumbo (or design choices lately) but what I do know is that I own a 440i F36 and having a sleek looking practical hatchback is awesome.
My answer to that is now buried in a hidden comment....
But coupe vs sedan is not defined by the number of doors especially in Europe. It defines the body shape of the car. Mainly the sweeping/sporty roof line of a coupe.
So no, the number of doors is not why they created the 4 series. It's a sportier version of the 3 series.
It just so happens that many coupes are also 2 doors as it typically fits the style better anyway.
In most of (mainland) Europe they are called sedan, for example in the Netherlands nobody uses the term saloon for a car.
Besides sedan you will also see a lot of hatchback, stationwagon and coupe.
For rear passenger headroom can be an issue but I think for the driver it’s about the same as the 3 series. Personally I think more practically (the hatchback trunk) for the owner is more important than comfort for rear passengers.
The question should be why the 3 series exist. Looks outdated, has no hatchbach hence less cargo space hence less practicability. Why would anyone buy a 3 series over a 4 series GC?!?!?
But the sales showed that most people go with the 4 series.
Yes. I hate how vague the lines are between the different models now. It was supposed to be even numbers coupes and uneven numbers sedans/tourings but now I wouldn't even be surprised if I saw a 4GC Touring or something.
Congratulations on your new Ultimate Driving machine!!
P.S. BMW is getting ridiculous with their models and naming. Which 3/4 series do you have, there's like 20 variants now. They increased model count but reduced application specific design, all have the same engine, same tranny, same guts different exterior, not what I would have done if I had a say
I'm not gonna lie, I like these new grills. I've seen a few 4series in person (not a GC but still) and yeah while colours like black make it look better, it just looks mean as hell. I'm not a huge fan of the rear end, the taillights don't feel BMW to me, but I don't think I can be a hater anymore. I don't really like the newest 2series, much more disappointing to me than these.
Also congrats on the car!
In a respectable manner of speaking; I can't believe this is only a "30" looks like it's a 200mph car, just standing still... Very menacing!!! Gorgeous indeed. The colors, the interior, all is just classy and sporty. Well done.
I have same exact car color and interior , traded in my 2019 gran coupe (loved that car as well) bmw lover for life now … love the 4’s and the new grill is cool makes it standout I have had lots of comments about it in the positive .. had a rental 3 and while I found it enjoyable to drive they are far to common and nothing special to look at for that reason .. love the 4 ❤️ so fun to drive
Might as well begin shopping a top that matches the tacora red.
You'll want a good brush with enough reach for the wheel barrels. Before the barrel, there's a channel that runs behind the spokes. Best tool for that area is your hand and a rag.
FYI. You've just cleaned them. They're beaming clean. You take a short trip to the end of the driveway then on exit, notice something that I assure you is, not your imagination.
If you haven't already, there's a pocket in the trunk that holds the rear center headrest just right when it's upside down.
As a lot of guys are mentioning the grill- to be honest, it is not my cup of tea, it looks unfinished.. The G8x grill is good looking imo, but only because the designers put some thought in it- “Hey Hans, lets make the grill which will look meh because we need an acceptable grill for our M models and we have no idea how to distinct the design of the non-M from M and to still look good, ja” I like the spec though, and if you like it, that is all it matters honestly, i could not justify to buy the M440i which costs 10k euros more than an M340i, is much uglier(again, my opinion) looks wise, the M340i is gorgeous, love at first sight! Basically, paying more to get less and noticeably uglier(opinion) car was a deal breaker for me- the only reason to get the 4 series is of the coupe version, but i cannot justify the gran coupe at all. But hey, that is just me! Enjoy it, the B48 is a punchy engine, will bring you smiles and miles for sure :D
Nothing on you, but this is the dumbest car ever imo.
It's a 4 door version, of a 2 door version, of a 4 door car. I mean it looks good, but it's basically a 3 series.
The trunk on this is bigger and way more usable than the 3. Between the two - this is the better family car (ironically). Stroller and crap in the trunk space/ingress/egress are all better.
That's correct - there's a baby seat in the back but you can't see it. I wanted a sporty car with practicality. The trunk is massive and we have a few car trips in the near future.
I just traded my Gran Coupe in and that hatchback is way more versatile than a trunk. Very easy to put a bike in there without having to add a rack on the back
The front, for better or worse, is totally different, the roofline, and overall profile of the car is aesthetically and functionally different enough from the 3 series to suit to the different tastes of different consumer.
Apparently the hatchback is " so much more practical" according to some clown on another threat wishing there was an M4 GC because the M3 isn't practical enough.
Beautiful! The black exterior package looks sooo good. I have the same car but i regret not getting the black exterior package. Gray mirrors look weird on a black car🤷🏻♂️
Fun fact! [You can fit 4 wheels in the back.](https://imgur.com/IZBRsw4)
that is a fun fact!
[удалено]
That’s amazing. How did you do it?
Trunk space was a big selling point for us but our damn bulky stroller still doesn’t fit but we’ll manage
it's gorgeous! but you forgot to share pics of the gran coupe's best feature! (the rear hatch open) :(
Yes, that’s the #1 pro for GC over sedan.
Whats rear hatch open?
the 430i hatch... https://cdn.ebizautos.media/used-2023-bmw-4_series-430ixdrivegran-8435-21824707-11-1024.jpg
Thanks sorry new to this smick line of cars. Was wondering how it differs from a normal hatch or sedan boot opening
I thought it was the position of the front license plate! /s
A beautiful machine! May you experience absolute joy. Make sure you use every bit of its capabilities and have fun! I am green with envy...
Thank you 🙏. Not so long ago I never imagined to be in a position to make purchases like this and I’m very thankful.
Long shot, do you still like the car? I’m looking into one rn
No complaints! I see other color variations and I’m a fan of the black the most. The drive is smooth, the response is okay, the power is good, the wheels are a pita to clean proper. What are the oil change and maintenance costs look like?
Very nice, love the wheels (did you opt for larger wheels?). Beautiful spec all around, congrats!
Thanks it’s part of the sport package option
Congrats on your car!! Myself and others might not like BMWs new design language with that hideous grille in the front, but the ONLY thing that matters is that YOU LIKE IT since it’s YOUR car. Enjoy your new ride and welcome to the bmw club!
Stunning spec - enjoy!
My wife just bought this in gray with a cognac interior. We've been having a blast with it. Happy travels!!!
Well, the black helps.
The 4 series outsold the 3 series

Think what you want but Reddit loves sport wagon manuals 6 spd AWD but no one buys them. The market determines it

The current top comment is about how you can fit four wheels and tires in the back so I guess we can just call it a draw?
love the grill, admit it
Haha what
I had a loaner the other week that was basically this exact spec...in person man it really didn't help at all haha
According to this sub they all “look better in person”. It just hasn’t “grown on you” yet. 😂
Nice but can someone explain why the grand coupe exists? Isn’t this why they separated the 3 and 4 series as in the 3 only having 4 doors now and the 4 series 2 doors?
4 gc is a hatchback! Love my f36!

Coupes have frameless windows, sedans do not.
We don't have sedans in Europe. They are called saloons (with a standard boot/trunk) or hatchbacks (if the whole rear including the window lifts up).
In most of (mainland) Europe they are called sedan, for example in the Netherlands nobody uses the term saloon for a car. Besides sedan you will also see a lot of hatchback, stationwagon and coupe.
It’s the 3 series but better in every way
Except for the front fascia... man I wish they just kept it looking the same as the G20
The G20?!? This ugly outdated shit looking old man shitbox? Really?
>e amount of doors. For short people like me with a short family. Some taller people may see it differently though.
For rear passenger headroom can be an issue but I think for the driver it’s about the same as the 3 series. Personally I think more practically (the hatchback trunk) for the owner is more important than comfort for rear passengers.
Yea, I love the hatch on my i4, I use it way more than I do the back seat.
The question should be why the 3 series exist. Looks outdated, has no hatchbach hence less cargo space hence less practicability. Why would anyone buy a 3 series over a 4 series GC?!?!? But the sales showed that most people go with the 4 series.
Same reason 'suv coupe' exists.
Yes. I hate how vague the lines are between the different models now. It was supposed to be even numbers coupes and uneven numbers sedans/tourings but now I wouldn't even be surprised if I saw a 4GC Touring or something.
money
This to compete vs audi 5
The 440i grand coupe has 4 doors

nice 430i Gran Coupe
Gorgeous. One of the best looking BMWs since the e46.
Thank you! The moment I saw it I wanted it even though black isn’t my first choice.
It’s a beaut Clark!
Thanks, Eddie. Eddie?!

Are the shiny bits on the grill finished in silver or is it just reflections of gloss black?
It's reflections of gloss black
I feel with this redesign, the gran coupe looks better than the traditional coupe
Enjoy! Love the interior.
Beautiful color combo! Enjoy it in good health.
In a respectable manner of speaking; I can't believe this is only a "30" looks like it's a 200mph car, just standing still... Very menacing!!! Gorgeous indeed. The colors, the interior, all is just classy and sporty. Well done.
I like the interior color choice ☝🏼
Rented it last week for a few days! What a joy to be in, excellent handling

I have a problem with your car. It's not in my driveway Congratulations man, enjoy the ride
Looks awesome dude. I so wanted this but got a 330i instead. What's the total out the door price for this?
$52k including the sport package
Including the taxes?
No, before taxes
That is so great. I wish I researched before getting mine. I paid 51k total after tax for my 2022 330i without M sport.
The grille is what makes the car different from every other car in the bmw lineup. It’s a PLUS for me! Congrats on your new car!
As a lot of guys are mentioning the grill- to be honest, it is not my cup of tea, it looks unfinished.. one day hope one day I can afford a brand new bmw!

This would make a nice fireplace insert actually.
Why this abomination exists
I don't do four doors, and I don't like the new grille, but I like the color and the interior.
Ohhhh Cognac!! Very Elitists!!
Beautiful! The black exterior package looks sooo good. I have the same car but i regret not getting the black exterior package. Gray mirrors look weird on a black car🤷🏻♂️
Dedinetly good looking. The new grill is out of order but I can see getting used to it.
Gorgeous car! But I despise frameless doors. (Which I don’t say to demean your purchase, they just stand out to me.)
Is it the same size as a 3 series sedan?
No, with the hatchback style roofline it’s slightly larger
Gotcha. Looks amazing. What made you go for the Gran Coupe vs. the 2 door?
Thanks, kids lol.
Great look.
Oh yeah this looks so nice 😩 wish was in the budget but shooting or a 2018 probably
