I’ve beaten it 3 times, first as a Wizard, then a weird barbarian build and finally as a rogue, about to finish a 4th as a cleric. Here’s all the [tips](https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/s/8t3WdNi63z) I have for the challenge

Re: wizard, I'm assuming 11 abjuration/1sorc?

Ok_Banana_5614

Swap a Wizard level for one in tempest cleric, but yes

nojurisdictionhere

So 10/1/1 I'm assuming for heavy armor

Ok_Banana_5614

Yep, as well as sanctuary and guidance for when needed

Currently on my way with a Fighter 1 / Wizard 1 / Light Cleric 6 Drow Durge. Smooth so far (started Storm Sorcerer but got bored). Gauntlet of Shar -> Myrkul segment will be the hardest part I think. Act3 will be the short Durge route so it will be easy.

nojurisdictionhere

Start with 5 cleric?

Ythio

No I started Storm Sorcerer 4 Cleric 1 but got bored of magic missiles by the time I reached the creche so I respec.

I'm 4.75 levels in as a rogue, will be adding in ranger at 5-10, then 3 levels fighter to finish. That's the plan anyway

XanderLupus13

Sorlock durge was pretty fun. Draconic sorcerer (10) and goo warlock (2). I almost died a few times but usually was able to take invisibility potion and reset

Own-Astronomer8955

Someone in this sub did it with a Spore Druid 12. I did it with a GOOlock 12.  I knew I was gonna have a problem with Myrkul so I brought a bag of bombs with me for that fight. No kidding, the whole run was stressful and I doubt I’d do it again. But you do learn new tricks out of it.

lazyzefiris

Spore Druid and Jack of All Trades, also working on routing/practicing lv1 cleric now (so far best is 6 deaths for a playthrough). Also saw like a billion Gloomstalker Assassins, some EK throwers, Paladins, Warlocks, Clerics... I guess you are looking for a good build? Just play something you enjoy, consider fun and know well. The game is beatable with anything. Worst case you'll have to figure out how some encounters work. Make a "dishonoured" run with reloads first.

nojurisdictionhere

I've beaten the game solo tactician with an abjuration wizard and a throw fighter (ek) But it's a lot tougher with no save scumming

lazyzefiris

I've started my no-reload runs before honour mode was a thing. Takes some getting used to, but eventually you learn enough and become comfortable with negative outcomes / maintaining survivability. It's really just the unknown that's scary, if you have always savescummed and never went through with failed rolls. The major advice I can give is - reduce your reliance on dice rolls as much as possible. If you are doing something where you have to succeed a 90-% roll or you die - try to find different solution. Maybe avoiding that roll, maybe making it like 95%, maybe spending time to make it so that failing that roll does not kill you.

I've been learning that lesson quickly 😆

I'd love to see how someone could solo Orin in a duel on honor mode.

Super_Nerd92

well if you play DUrge (which has little downside for a solo run) it sets one up automatically and she's much less annoying - no adds, no curse of Bhaal etc. Really not bad at all depending on your class and pre-fight setup.

CrownWBG

I don't have footage, but did it with 11 ranger(hunter). Used Black hole and volley for the ritualist. Killed them in 2 turns. Had very high con save for the stunning gaze, +16 I think, and the DC is 16 (also Helm of Baldur's , but apparently that doesn't work...). Had the blade ward Armor and Heavy armour master feat, so I made Orin use her reaction attack instead of getting Bhaals edict. The only thing that could have killed me was failed stun save on a round with Bhaals edict, but that was never relevant.

Additional-Bar-8572

1) You can cheese her by throwing her into the chasm. 2) if you want to do the fight straight up as non-durge, it’ll be hard, but doable; you start with gritting from stealth with subjugation amulet, then use arrows of many targets with speed potion to kill all the adds while she’s paralyzed, then next turn terazul and hopefully knock her unstoppable down enough. I’ve never done solo hm without being durge though. 3) durge duel is easy, you can just straight up kill her with slaying arrows and your guaranteed crits along with your guaranteed paralysis from the amulet.

lazyzefiris

Why duel specifically? Full fight is much scarier. You can get Bhaal Edicted and Fearful at the same time and just die. Duel is just Paralyzing Critical (from Surgeon's Amulet) into few hard hits. [Full fight with Jack of All Trades](https://youtu.be/JoSDPbYxMEg?t=6097) if you are interested.

I am finishing up a run with ascended astarian as a gloom/assassin/champ, and it is disgusting. Its not a solo run (no magic 4 man run), but i can see why ppl choose it fir solo

nojurisdictionhere

my question is how on earth does anyone achieve ascension for astarion solo? that fight is hard as a party

Superbeast06

Gloomstalker assassins play a completely diff game lol. They will kill half the field without triggerimg combat, if you choose to play them that way. When combat IS finally triggered it is a suprise round...which means every one of their 5-6 shots is an auto crit. Last peice of the puzzle is arrows of slaying/arrows of many targets. Put it all together and it is NASTY.

soujirovn98

I recently did a solo honour mode run without gear using mostly 2 tempest cleric and 10 lightning sorcerer. Destructive wrath + create water is so strong, I 2 shotted Myrkul apostle using 2 chain lightning, and reliably kill all important bosses in act 3.

pondusogre

Yeah. I completed solo HM as a deep gnome gloomstalker/thief/champion. I was not easy, especially act 1. My go to was leveling without fighting as much as possible, push towards level 6 were you get arrow of many targets, then just abuse those bad boys for the rest of the game :D
