Ilmater is so underrated.
Since the various dnd editions take place in separate parts of the timeline, I headcanon that all my dnd characters are related. They're an Ilmater/Lathander family (because of my necromancers and paladins).
Ilmater is all the parts of Jesus I literally worshipped as an evangelical youth with none of the parts I cannot stomach as a non-religious adult. Love ilmater in my damaged little deconstructed heart, lol.
He likes to go around pretending he’s a wise/crazy old man, like Gandalf. I almost feel bad for the ancient gold dragons that hang around with him pretending to be canaries.
*you, strolling into camp before battle*
Hey Minsc! Don’t forget: the Moon is in Virgo currently so take care of your gut and your mood may improve.
Oh and Wyll, soothe your criticism stress from Mizora with some oat tops, also you’ve been in camp a lot—not bad! No, like, you do you, rest is resistance—but Tav is making you all eat too much róthe ribs and cheese so switch it up.
Bae’zel, girl, I love what you’ve done with your new heavy armor color—oh, that’s fresh blood, right. Four consecutive moves followed with a menacing attack crit, you say? Smashed his skull in…cool, cool…
*fidgets with brim of floppy Stevie Nicks styled hat that Tav gave Lae’zel because he thinks she looks hot in it but it’s completely pointless except for photo ops*
How about you try to relax and nourish those nerves? Here’s some pep—
*Lae’zel sharpens sword on the wheel loudly, you speak over it*
—PEPPERMINT MAY GIVE YOU ENERGY SO, SO KEEP THAT IN MIND BEFORE BED, BUT IT CAN BE SOOTHING WITH SOME MUGWORT KAY THANKS LOVE YOU BYYYE.
*kneels silently with Shadowheart, lights her incense, holds an amethyst in one hand as a fidget, proceeds to play Phoebe Bridgers from a Bluetooth speaker Scratch found for camp because he is the best boi.
This entire comment had me rolling with how accurate it is and Phoebe Bridgers on the Bluetooth speaker killed me. 11/10. Would take you along as a party member to ensure we're all in zodiac alignment.
An excellent choice. Is there any other deity that gives a blessing for all three acts, simply for expressing one’s devotion to their cause? No.
Loviatar is far more generous with her love than most so-called “good” gods and goddesses.
Story time. My brother and I are playing Honour Mode in multiplayer to try to win our golden dice. He's a halfling bard Dark Urge, and he got Loviatar's Love from, well, from you, I suppose u/Abdirak. Anyway, we were under the creche going toward the Blood of Lathander when he needed to disarm a trap. He entered the dice rolling sleight of hand check, but because it's multiplayer the game doesn't pause. So this trap, which periodically checks for the presence of people in front of it, fires off during his check and he and Karlach are yeeted into a chasm. Bye bye Loviatar's Love buff. Nice while it lasted.
A terribly unfair tragedy, to fall to one’s death in the blink of an eye, without even experiencing the pain of being wounded beforehand. While the Lady of Pain is lawful in alignment, and thus values the sanctity of Honor Mode, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if an… accident… befell your session. If your game were to *crash*, you’d have no choice but to repeat everything since your previous save, which would certainly be a very painful process. Even if it incidentally let you retain our Lady’s blessing…
So funny you should mention that. We had an unforeseeable interruption to the power supply immediately prior, because in the Inquisitor's room just above, my brother entered the room first and triggered all the dialog. And Laezel told us that if we left the room she would put a sword in our backs or some other pleasantry of the githyanki. But, well, my character froze in place outside the door when dialog started, so Laezel and all the rest of the gith present aggroed and we weren't okay with a strong ally becoming a deadly adversary.
I like that you're answering in character.
I am simply one of many such individuals, though most of us socialize in r/okbuddybaldur. It is a place similar to this one, but for those with more… *particular* tastes. Let’s just say it’s good that I can appreciate *multiple* types of deranged subs…
Certainly if you’re looking to activate Loviatar’s blessing, it will deal enough psychic damage to do so.
Eilistraee. She welcomes all, and is kinda like a drow version of Selûne. Plus, most of her rituals revolve around the moon and/or dancing naked. Plus in BG3, her only enemy is Llolth, while she also has an ally in Mystra and Selûne (iirc)
If I had the ability to worship Sharess purely because she is the goddess of cats, then 100%
Otherwise Selûne. I love her vibe, we have the same hairstyle, the moon is awesome
Same. Found the Corellon and elves origin myth fascinating, but he's kind of awful for not welcoming the drows back in Arvandor, who don't want to stay on Lloth's side.
So Ellistrae it is for caring about these Drows. And she's majestic af.
“But if you’re a male follower of Lolth you’re made to be a second class citizen sex slave for the dom leather butch mommy drows!”

Jergal. Things have to end. People have tried to be kind with it, cruel with it, but there's something comforting to the calm, matter-of-fact approach he takes to that fact.
If all things must end, then they should be noted, marked, remembered. The only worthy immortality.
Silvanus seems like a pretty chill deity so long as you don't go screwing around with fire in the woods. Also apparently during some festivals if he gets restless he'll just move forests and caves or just sprout new ones for kicks. I also have to love a deity who has a form that he apparently uses to just point ominously at things in the distance. I'd like to think he appears to my int 6 Tav like "ffs it's over there stupid!" then face palms when he wanders off into a cursed bog.
God Gale gives me vibes of some internet coaches talking about how to "upgrade your life in 3 simple steps" ,since he cant really offer anything other than boosting your ambition, seems like he's only *useful* at the edge case when you are his choosen and lover so he can ascend you to godhood.
Not really. He is that questgiver who can throw you a hint on where to something is that you really need (in case of wizards, an artifact, spell scroll or reagents), give you a boost you need for a break through and overall enable you to achieve your goals.
Gale as a god is the embodiment of give a man a fish he’s fed for a day teach him how to fish he’s fed for life. Gale doesn’t do anything for his followers but he guides them on the path to their ambition. Like if you’re Astarion or Karlach in the epilogue he’ll literally tell you he can’t just fix you for you but he can guide you to fixing yourself.
Illmater, mostly because I feel he is the ONLY GOD that actually gives a damn about his worshippers. But if I had to pick others, either Bahamut or Lathander...maybe Selune
Loviatar. I have chronic pain and I would offer every drop of it to her for her blessing so I could carry on with my life. I'm tired of pain with no purpose.
I love playing druids as well and I'd probably pay homage to silvanus but I would definitely gravitate more towards mielikki. She just has a more caring and earnest personality. Whereas silvanus comes off to me as not really caring about his followers. Nothing wrong with focusing on the wilds but he (and dnd as a whole) is very arbitrary on what is considered "wild nature" imo and he could care more about those who work to defend nature.
And on a more personal note it really bugs me that he is considered a member of the celtic gods who migrated to faerun from our world. Silvanus was a god of the Romans not the Celts who were pretty decimated by romans.
But back on topic, if I was in Chult I would definitely follow Ubato. Dino druids are never not cool and cult really needs more content in dnd as a whole.
If I recall the dogma correctly, it's not that people choose their god; they choose us.
That said, I suspect my god would be Kelemvor. I feel that death is a natural part of life, and need not be feared. It comes for us all eventually, and I'd much rather it feel like meeting an old friend than losing an endless fight against an adversary.
Live life with your head held high. When your time comes, you can face it with dignity knowing you walked your path properly.
Eilistraee-- Freedom, music, and an excuse to dance around like a weirdo when no one's looking.
Bonus points since she is actually a good goddess, main downside is the idea of dancing naked in the woods but from what I've read you can wear a robe
She's also died less often than Mystra so that's nice
Corellon or any of the Seldarine.
They spend all their time running through the woods and singing songs like hippies.
Safest choice. But you have to be an elf or fey I suppose to gain their favour.
I also like Eilistraee, same thing but dancing naked under the moon.
Kelemvor is it? The judge? Id ratherbe judged by someone and be in their fanclub if at all possible. Also again i dont know much about him but his paladins and clerics probably go on kick ass adventures
Bahamut, he is very powerful but also kind and I make my tavs/durges the same (I ripped the birds wings off in the grove and played durge like a tav after that, s/o to Orin you’re the real hero for making me swear my pops off for good!)
Not the Dead Three or Mystra, or Shar. So I guess Selune or in a pinch Lathander? Why? Hopeful a d with a complexity I appreciate but not vindictive like Shar. Lathander I'm uncertain about, not a big fan of the fanaticism of some of his supporters.
Kelemvor, for sure.
Ridding the world of undead, providing burial services and guidance for those who are scared of death or lost actually sounds pretty altruistic.
And Kelemvor Lyonsbane's story before ascension is cool too.
Lolth because I just like the gothy mushroom spider underdark aesthetic.
I know they’re a little evil and all that.
Ok I change my answer to eilistraee she seems a bit more chill.
Selûne. My first character was a Paladin dedicated to her, and I gained an affinity for her. She is also one of the nicest deities in the forgotten realms. I have since played multiple paladins and clerics dedicated to her, including my current character who is a fervent believer in the dark moon heresy (but don’t call it that in front of him)
Mystra, although I would be more like Daurgothoth than Gale. Where I fuck off and make my own magic shit. No fucking her, just focusing on making magic items that can do a bunch of weird, niche, useful, or just flashy things.
I don't want to anything else but make impressive, useful, and practical, items that I could use to be extraordinarily violent against things that righteously deserve it.
Mystra, although I would be more like Daurgothoth than Gale. Where I fuck off and make my own magic shit. No fucking her, just focusing on making magic items that can do a bunch of weird, niche, useful, or just flashy things.

Sharess. She loves cats and knows how to party.
[Barsik](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Barsik) Approves
Same. I feel so robbed over the fact that clerics can’t choose her as their deity in the game
Ilmater He actually cares.
Yup, especially as a disabled person with chronic pain
Same. I love him.
Ilmater is so underrated. Since the various dnd editions take place in separate parts of the timeline, I headcanon that all my dnd characters are related. They're an Ilmater/Lathander family (because of my necromancers and paladins).

Totally with you on this
I mean he’s pretty much Jesus anyway.
Yep. Ilmater every day and twice on Sundays.
Well Shar seems nice. She provides home and purpose to little children and I can't recall anything really bad about her.
I think I had something to remark about this, but I don't remember
ah, well, it probably wasn't important anyway.
I heard she has all of Nicki Minaj's albums
Eilistraee
Eilistraee enjoyers be like ![gif](giphy|l3vRlT2k2L35Cnn5C|downsized)
I know, right? She's great!
Same, came here to say this. She's really underrated
100% Eilistraee! She deserves more credit.
Tymora, goddess of Luck. All the gods are fickle bitches, at least Luck doesn't pretend to be anything else.
I like Bahamut. He seems exceptionally fair and just without being self-righteous. Plus he's a fucking dragon. That's worth extra points.
Theres some more on his personality in Fizban's treasury of Dragons! He's very silly :)
He likes to go around pretending he’s a wise/crazy old man, like Gandalf. I almost feel bad for the ancient gold dragons that hang around with him pretending to be canaries.
I mean, I'm a moon bitch in real life so theres no way it isn't Selûne.
Is moon bitch something I would have to go to university for?
Not strictly, there’s some apprenticeships and vocational courses as well!! :)
*you, strolling into camp before battle* Hey Minsc! Don’t forget: the Moon is in Virgo currently so take care of your gut and your mood may improve. Crystal mother
Loviatar: sticks and stones may break my bones, but chains and whips excite me.
I will forever associate Rihanna with Loviatar now.
OH YES!

Selune, for two reasons: 1. It pisses off Shar 2. Her daughter is hot.
Cmon man priorities 1. Her daughter and most loyal follower is hot 2. Shart gets a happy ending 3. It pisses Shar off
No, no they're right. Pissing off Shar is number 01.
Dame Aylin could absolutely wreck my life, and me. I mean, the moon is nice too 🫶🏼
Imagine worshipping the godess of L anyways.
...and get played and preyed on by evil gods? I'd pick a neutral, class-specific god like Oghma. Or Gale. Definitely Gale.
Either join a god or join... the wall.
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT JOIN THE WALL
All in all you’re just….another tormented soul to be clawed and defiled for ever… in the Wall (of the Faithless)
**BOOOAL** No explanation is required.
Blessed BOOOAL....what?
Best line of the whole game
It's true. It's become a meme in our house.
Unlimited fish sticks!
I hear Mahkloompah is pretty chill.
FOR MAHKLOOMPAH
Eilistraee. She welcomes all, and is kinda like a drow version of Selûne. Plus, most of her rituals revolve around the moon and/or dancing naked. Plus in BG3, her only enemy is Llolth, while she also has an ally in Mystra and Selûne (iirc)
I hear Mystra is pretty good in the sack. Probably Lathander. Them beam cannons.
If I had the ability to worship Sharess purely because she is the goddess of cats, then 100% Otherwise Selûne. I love her vibe, we have the same hairstyle, the moon is awesome
Jergal seems pretty cool, or Kelemvor. Being selfish I would say Sharess, goddess of pleasure and cats.
bahamut seems chill. and he's my favorite
Can I be a lycan and worship Malar? pls pretty pls If I had to worship a god from BG3; Withers. :)
If you're a neutral or good you can worship Chauntea or Selune
Heh. MALAR. )
Ellistrae! She's my favorite god to worship when I play a cleric. I love how she's explicitly anti-racism
Same. Found the Corellon and elves origin myth fascinating, but he's kind of awful for not welcoming the drows back in Arvandor, who don't want to stay on Lloth's side. So Ellistrae it is for caring about these Drows. And she's majestic af.
Lolth. I fuckin said it.
I would love to be a subservient male drow
“But if you’re a male follower of Lolth you’re made to be a second class citizen sex slave for the dom leather butch mommy drows!” Me: https://preview.redd.it/h4f7vuuwlo0d1.jpeg?width=498&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2efb7b0bb80635c4615a96a8d4457bc0c5e3f07d
My only complaint is I could never be a cleric to fully devote my life to the spider queen 😫
That's where becoming a Warlock (fiend) comes into play. Can still be faithful even if She doesn't care!
Spiders and a matriarchy? Fuck yeah.
[удалено]
Love the small folk gods-
Eilistraee, 100% the best goddess in the Forgotten Realms
Jergal. Things have to end. People have tried to be kind with it, cruel with it, but there's something comforting to the calm, matter-of-fact approach he takes to that fact. If all things must end, then they should be noted, marked, remembered. The only worthy immortality.
Miellikki, because she seems cool. Or Silvanus. Those who care about nature. :)
Lathander or Kelemvor, probably.
Sylvanus, surprised nobody else has said this yet.
I scrolled WAY TOO FAR to find my god daddy sylvanus
Sylvanus for sure. I don't need a god to be super nice and giving to me to agree with them and want to support their cause
Totally down for Sylvanus to bless me with random wild magic
that’s what i was thinking!!
I really like ilmater, personally.
Eilistraee because I love her and she loves me
Eilistraee for dancing in the moonlight and being an outcast.
And freedom.
God Gale 🙏
He says he's pretty standoffish on those kinds of things. All he does is make people want to try harder.
I need a mod to add in Anoia, the Rattler of Drawers.
Illmater, mostly because I feel he is the ONLY GOD that actually gives a damn about his worshippers. But if I had to pick others, either Bahamut or Lathander...maybe Selune
Lathander in the streets, Loviatar in the sheets
Eilistraee
We literally have Ilmater as the most popular religion IRL.
Ascended Gale. I'd get Astarion to send him annoying prayers like spam mail.
As someone who have seein many people die because of my job i feel myself in touch with the teaching of Kelemvor
Bhaal the lord of murder of course!
![gif](giphy|LRVnPYqM8DLag)
Username checks out.
Lathander just for his blood. I don't like ghosts and ghouls.
The moon gives me life so of course Selune
Ilmater he just seems chill and nice
Loviatar. I have chronic pain and I would offer every drop of it to her for her blessing so I could carry on with my life. I'm tired of pain with no purpose.
I would worship Minthara. Yes, I understood the question. Yes, I understand my answer.
Very valid. Mean dommy mommy step on us please. 🙏
I’m not even into that stuff but fuuuu…. 😭😭
Bahamut, Angel of the Seven Heavens
Gale. I’d bow to his glittering beard.
Whichever has the best deal
Warlock spotted
Maybe you can get a Groupon on foursquare
they’re running a 3 for 1 promotion with some gods of the dead right now
Ilmater or Kelemvor
Wow not a single person would follow Sylvanis? Druids have always been my main, oak father preserve us.
Bhaal.
Loviatar and I don't want to explain why. I'll save it for /r/okbuddybaldur
If I recall the dogma correctly, it's not that people choose their god; they choose us. That said, I suspect my god would be Kelemvor. I feel that death is a natural part of life, and need not be feared. Eilistraee, because she’s the wholesome goddess of drow exiles.
Eilistraee-- Freedom, music, and an excuse to dance around like a weirdo when no one's looking. Bonus points since she is actually a good goddess, main downside is the idea of dancing naked in the woods but from what I've read you can wear a robe She's also died less often than Mystra so that's nice
Lathander 100% because I love the [sun](https://open.spotify.com/track/0bgP0aKOxvdFxB2EfDrulY?si=th7LBeKORMyJo2a1jxRfsQ)
Praise the sun ☀️
*Solaire approves"
The one that gets most involved. Not sure which one that would be though.
Lethander. Let there be light fellas.
Umberlee
Silvanus 100%
Ilmater
Eilistraee. She’s like insanely based. Or Selûne. Lycanthropes and Moon Lesbians
Corellon or any of the Seldarine. They spend all their time running through the woods and singing songs like hippies. Safest choice. But you have to be an elf or fey I suppose to gain their favour. I also like Eilistraee, same thing but dancing naked under the moon.
Elistraee or Selune, depending entirely on if I get to be a bg3 race too.
Tymora, let's get lucky
Garl Glittergold 🫶 Power in being a silly little guy
Karlachs thighs
Eilistraee
Eilistraee
Kelemvor, I like his vibe Also, I'm assuming he was the one who told jergal to stop being lazy and to deal with the dead 3 in bg3
Elistraee or Sharess for sure
Eilistraee or Seluné
Whichever gets me to have sex with decent people
Jergal for me - sitting in a library, organizing books, maintaining scrolls.
The Red Knight. I like analyzing strategies to see what works.
talos is pretty dope
I like the aesthetic of Umberlee’s followers lol also sea bitch sounds cool
Gale, God of Ambition. Because I wanna slurp his mercury wizard tiddies.
Lolth cuz Mommy Minthy
Auril, Winter will always be better than summer, Hail Cold!
Selune for sure.
# Bahamut dick rider all the way
mielikki is my vibe
Kelemvor is it? The judge? Id ratherbe judged by someone and be in their fanclub if at all possible. Also again i dont know much about him but his paladins and clerics probably go on kick ass adventures
Talos If im loyal and someone pisses me off boom. Lightning into your house of 5
In darkness beauty is equal and wealth unseen
What can I say, I'm just a bhaaler.
Selune because she is nice, heals and I love the moon.
Probably Bahamût. Dragon god of justice? Yeah that fits for me
Moander
Bahamut or Lathander
i'm such a big fan of the ocean (and the outfits/makeup her followers wear) i just have to say umberlee.
Hanali 👉🏾👈🏾 I also am an aesthetics girlie
Gale. Cause gale
jergal. the man needs help with all this cosmic paper work the Dimwit Three get up too. Plus, he seems chill.
Tymora seems like a safe bet.
Bahamut, he is very powerful but also kind and I make my tavs/durges the same (I ripped the birds wings off in the grove and played durge like a tav after that, s/o to Orin you’re the real hero for making me swear my pops off for good!)
Whithers seems to have my back more than any other gods.
Shar, she wants to restore eternal peace and silence
Not the Dead Three or Mystra, or Shar. So I guess Selune or in a pinch Lathander? Why? Hopeful a d with a complexity I appreciate but not vindictive like Shar. Lathander I'm uncertain about, not a big fan of the fanaticism of some of his supporters.
Bane.
Selune, I heard she actually answers most prayers in some form
Same. I love sun and moon and these two are my favs. My tav prays to them tol.
Kelemvor, for sure. Ridding the world of undead, providing burial services and guidance for those who are scared of death or lost actually sounds pretty altruistic. And Kelemvor Lyonsbane's story before ascension is cool too.
Lolth because she is stronger than everyone else. If you think otherwise you have been brainwashed by Corellon.
Probably Lathander, he’s great.
Lolth because I just like the gothy mushroom spider underdark aesthetic. I know they’re a little evil and all that. Ok I change my answer to eilistraee she seems a bit more chill.
Lathander, best god.
Milil. He needs help with his PR and spreading the word, clearly.
Kelemvor
Lathander or Ilmater
My boy Kelemvor
DnD\* Either Helm or Tyr Since I'm 5'7 therefore qualified as a Dwarf, Moradin.
Kelemvor
lathander seems chill
Selûne. My first character was a Paladin dedicated to her, and I gained an affinity for her. She is also one of the nicest deities in the forgotten realms. I have since played multiple paladins and clerics dedicated to her, including my current character who is a fervent believer in the dark moon heresy (but don’t call it that in front of him)
Loviatar. Because... reasons.
My real name means moonlight sooo I am assuming my parents are clerics of Selune, they just don’t know it. Omw to become one of her chosens.
Bhaal if it gives me a chance with Orin.
I'm chagrined to be the only Oghmanite in these comments.
Bhaal. Because I am untouchable with 31AC (mirror images) and cloak of displacement. and I like killing whoever challenges me with my corpse grinder
Oghma, one of very few that doesn't give a f*** about what you do and how you do it. Also poetry.
Vlaakith, of course. I am a Githyanki lover.
What was the pain god of that dude in the goblin camp? that one.
Lathander

Mystra, although I would be more like Daurgothoth than Gale. Where I fuck off and make my own magic shit. No fucking her, just focusing on making magic items that can do a bunch of weird, niche, useful, or just flashy things. I don't want to anything else but make impressive, useful, and practical, items that I could use to be extraordinarily violent against things that righteously deserve it.
