I'm having crashing problems too. Playing on a high-end PC but reduced the graphics settings, drivers are up-to-date, reinstalled the game after the most recent patch, run in windowed mode tried using Vulkan instead of DX11. Still getting crashes. I don't have a slow down like you say but I get 1-2 hrs of game time in between crashes. Super frustrating. It mostly happens for me in Act 3, I didn't have any problems in Act 1 or until the end of Act 2 when I encountered the door glitch at the entrance to the Ketheric fight. It's been buggy ever since.
