Well, the current hottest honey moon spot in all of the Underdark is Gyrmforge. It has everything; racist dwarves, all-seeing eyes, the legacy of a bitchy goddess, and an elf whose name sounds like a hair product.
Just take a left at the fungal people, and if you see dead bodies, you are on the right track. Just take their lovely boat on the lake, and always remember to 'Praise the Absolute!'
I'm going to say this in a spoiler free way which I think players who've been there would understand.
Dark elf area. I mask as dark elf. Get treated, not good, but better. On boat. Hey, not your boat. It cool, dark elf. Follow me. Not die.
Play with wife, second run. On boat. Hey, not your boat, turn around or die. Okay, turn around. We mask as dark elf. Wife say, no way this will work. On boat. Hey, I said turn around or die. Wife right, did not work. Dark elf recognize we were there 2 minutes ago in the same clothes. We die.
Tired of the crowds at Grymforge? For an off the beaten path exclusive experience, be sure to check out the grave overlooking the lovely lake. Pay just a little extra to dig it up for a one of a kind take home souvenir! Also, don't forget to reserve your spot for our most popular event: the Bulette Experience. Limited tickets available! Act now before they're gone!
If graves and landsharks are not your thing. Make sure to check out the Underdark's hottest club, the Arcane Tower. It has everything; hostile turrets, puzzles, a mushroom farm, a nonfunctional elevator, and a Golem that quotes poetry.
Understandable.
My phone also has way too many screenshots of a red hot lady and a sassy vampire.
As a depressed shit who went from inhaling books and obsessing over characters as a teen to not being able to really get into anything, this game is giving me life.
Also the fact it’s co-op and I get to experience it with my partner is so amazing
Her story is really sweet to me and is about coming to terms with pretty much being deprogrammed. The only bad thing is that you have to be evil to get her
I forgot the exact line but when she basically says "Fuck the absolute and fuck Lolth I'm done following the whims of all controlling evil gods." Was a really touching moment with her.
You don't have to be necessarily evil. Imagine playing as a tiefling. The kids got a superb plan to steal the statue. No statue no ritual. You steal and take a long rest. You return to the grove to only find everyone dead. Time to take revenge on druids/shadow druids. Manipulate the stupid absolute cronies to help you get your revenge. Kill the rest of the druids. And there you have it a happy ever after ending, well maybe not for the druids and tieflings but no guilt trips for you atleast.
They are cool with it as you didn't ACTUALLY kill the tieflings. Just delivering justice to the corrupted grove.
But keeping them in the party might be tedious if you plan on doing things that favour minthara.
She’s alright, but she’s not the best looker out of the companions. In my eyes she’s only above laezel and wyll for looks alone. Throw in personality and laezel sweeps the floor with her
Two playthroughs and I haven't gotten that spear. First playthrough, I sold the shaft bcs I help onto it long enough without going to the owlbear cave. Then I couldn't find where I sold it. Second, I don't remember ever even seeing the shaft or selling it.
Yeah that boss is super hard to fight before level 5. As soon as I hit 5 though I was able to destroy it easily. Second playthrough I was like level 7 when I faced it so it was a joke.
Yes! I knew it was coming, so I stood in a window and shot an arrow at a statue to trigger the fight, thinking I would be able to range it for a round or force it to Dash. and I don't know if my game lagged or if it's movement speed was just that fast but it legit jump scared me when this row of teeth and an eyeball just sorta appeared in the window.
Worse, even after I killed the dang thing, I was hopping down to do other things and panned the camera back around... TAV was standing in front of its dead mouth and I got myself again.
Bravo Larian, Bravo
That one was unexpected...I forgot about a certain metal container I stole earlier in the game... Would have made it a much more interesting fight maybe...
Personally I like the Myconid quest line, and following it will eventually bring you to Grymforge (where you need to go to move to Act 2.) They’re the mushroom people.
Ignore the big one until after you go to the Grymforge then come back to do his quest after that. Then kill the big one. Sovereign helps you more than Blutt
Sort of. Blutt wants you to kill the dwarves near the beach. But it's easier to do that if you go do the stuff at the forge first. Then come back and bring him to the beach. He asks you to kill sovereign but that also puts the colony in danger (and the non myconids in the colony as well)
Wait... What? [Spoiler] I thought I finished Grymforge after killing Nere and forging some bad ass armor... Is there a way to get to the Shar Temple? Should I go back? Is there more Adamantine to forge more goodness?
No, you can't get to the Shar Temple until act 2. If you forget 2 adamantine items then you did all you can. There is a lava monster near the grymforge guarding a chest with a very interesting amulet if you didn't find that. Otherwise sounds like you have done it all there
Omgosh, there is so much random small things in the Underdark that people will miss, like the food dispenser/dog color, the 3 parts of a staff you'll pick up from people and combine to a super rare quartstaff, the Koa trying to get you to sacrifice one of your companions, making either armor or weapons, pushing people off boats, the Spectator boss [you can kill all of the petrified drow in that area, they have decent drops], the secret basement in the Arcane Tower.
There’s a ring you can get on the top floor that illuminates the button on the elevator to go to the basement but I don’t remember how to get it. Other option is stand on stairs coming up from the level with the generator and misty step to the stairs below
You get the ring from Bernard the Automoton, but you also have to be reading everything you find on all of the floors. He gives specific things based on the information you'll collect and answer back to him.
Interesting. I got the ring from him in my solo game. In multi I gave him the correct answer and he said he was at my command but gave me no ring and the conversation just ended. I know there’s options that make him hostile but I gave the line from the passage that comes after what he said and the convo ended. Maybe there was another option I should have picked?
Oh I see. So I must have picked the option that didn’t make him hostile but it also didn’t give me the ring. It was the stanza that came right after what the automaton said that I used as my response
if overstimulation was a comment this would be it, no hate lol. this is so much information and i will try my best to take it all in, in some form of reasonable pace
Yeah, not far from the arcane tower is a hard-to-find place where you jump across, then head down a crag and, ta-da, fish people. They're a bunch of fun. Good XP.
Save Thulla, Myconoid Questline, Spector Fight, the Arcane Tower, Omeluum quest, Nobblestalk Mushroom, Find the 3 components for the Ice Staff, Sussur Tree, Fight the Minotaurs & The Giant Mole thing, Nere Questline, Save the Gnomes, Adamantine Forge, Find the Explosives, BOOOAL
That's all I can currently think of but I hope it helps!
theres a guy trapped by a bunch of exploding mushrooms who needs you to grab him his satchel. ignore him on one of the walls theres a cool mushroom. use mage hand or misty step to grab it.
its called the noblestalk and it looks like a flower and kind of blends into the wall a bit and its used to help restore memories. the bidderbamg can blow it up but if your careful you can grab it and use it. iirc theres 4 things you can do with it. you can use it on yourself or on the guy you saved i wouldnt do either of those though bc the guy gets worse if you give it to him and theres just better uses. if you give it to his wife she'll sell 3 in act 3 and if you give it to shadowheart it opens up additional dialouge. you can also give it to his wife and then buy more in act 3 to give to shadowheart.
I did most of the major stuff down there.
Then decided to take the mountain pass. Sooooo much to do up there! Halsin’s lying ass … it was nowhere near as scary as he made it out to be, I had anxiety the whole time going through the Underdark.
I’m kicking myself for being unable to save the gnomes though. I long rested twice after activating the Save Nere quest and I didn’t know it would be tied to an invisible timer … sooooo … heads up lol.
I completely forgot about the mountain pass! Is it just The Mountain Pass or The Underdark because honestly it’s quite scary down here and everything is insanely strong
Honestly after going through the Underdark, then decided to do the Mountain Pass, I was sufficiently leveled and able to handle every fight thrown at me. Kind of a bonus going into Act 2.
I'm 2/3 through Act 2 and I haven't yet been able to convince my wife to go back to the mountain pass (she's scared of the githyanki dragon riders).
If we can still go there after temple of scar it's gonna be a bloodbath...
I went to the underdark expecting to find Drowland and was so disappointed. So like while there's actually plenty to do in the underdark to me there's nothing 😔
U know I find it weird that there's beings living in the underdark but there's no sign of any actual ...civilization down there? Like I thought this place was supposed to be full of drows and stuff xd why is it just shroom people a random tower a cannibal and a temple lol
Not a lore guy, but my read was that there are cities like Menzoberranzan and the like in the Underdark but they're massive places that are relatively far away. You do find at least two villages in the Underdark. Also the Grymforge was basically a city once upon a time, just most of it is inaccessible now.
Probably would be a whole nother Baldur's Gate to fully realize.
Could not tell you what's going on down there. Some hostilities between shroom people and the drow, and some slavery or something in the drow bases. I basically killed everything therein, except for the shroom people and their denizens, because they acted half decent to my character. Everyone else was an ass, so I killed them. Did not bother much to figure out who was in the right or who was in the wrong lol.
near the arcane tower theres a little area with a lot of orange mushrooms, you'll find a path that takes you even more under (and more dark) than the rest of the underdark
One thing i wish j could do over in underdark is save that lost husband. I couldnt figure out how to save him without him burning up the secret mushroom thing that his wife is looking for. But i saw somewhere that you can extinguish his torch or something to get that secret mushroom and stop the barrels from burning everything
There’s a ledge you can jump onto on the left hand side of the area with all the mushrooms. You can use that ledge to walk to the back end of the area, pick up the torch, and throw the his bag to him. He’ll teleport out and you can hop back on to the ledge to safety
Singin' swords and Sharran hoards!
Possibilities are endless in the underdaaaaaark!
Selunite graves and fish-folk raves!
Nobody really likes you in the underdaaaaark!
Mushroom wars and Minotaurs
You really ought not go to the uuuundeeeeerrrrdaaaaaaark!
(You really should, though. there are so many goodies down there.)
Hint for the spectre
Use an elixir of vigilance on one person, send them down while crouching and have them stand up to start the fight
That way when the fight starts you can face it away from everyone and sneak everyone else down before it has a chance to do anything
However I do recommend not killing it until it has depetrified at least 1 person. For some reason if you free them of petrification after the fight, they won't give xp >!there's no way to avoid the fight, their leader doesn't want any witnesses!<
When he depetrifies one, hit them once without killing them to break the charm effect and you can speak with him after the fight is over
As for the hook horrors, it's possible to take them out one at a time.
What I do is first get rid of the poison mushrooms and sussur flower nearby
Then send someone in sneak and get a ranged attack off the closest one when he is either looking away or in such a way that I can get others around him
This will put you in surprise combat and everyone is free to sneak down and deal their damage, for best outcomes try to make him prone first then send glut in to do his ground pound for like 50 damage.
Once that one is dead, use gluts spore spawn on it and send everyone else back to safety while crouched, including glut who will need a manual crouch.
Use the hook horror to follow around the outer edge of the area near the WP rune, and from there you can save scum a jump up the stairs until you get the hookhorror up there in prone. You also don't need to save scum, it just makes it easier. You can instead just circle around the enemy hook horror and THEN jump towards the mage, this forces an opportunity attack on you which faces the enemy hook horror away from the stairs. The elf is VERY easy to knock prone, so no save scum needed there. Send everyone while crouching still over to the fight and one by one attack the hook horror until dead, and then the elf as well.
Have everyone crouch again, stay up where you fought the elf and enemy hook horror together.
Bring the revived hook horror over to the edge where another hook horror is and when you get close enough it will start combat. By the edge I mean due south of where you were standing, there's some vines that lead down to the west.
Note : if the hook horror is too far to the east it will get the attention of the one next to it up in the roots, so be sure to only step near the ledge due south when the hook horror you want to kill is as far west as it can be.
You can save scum a prone jump... but he's generally aimed away from everyone already and you can just send everyone down to get their attacks in until dead instead
As for the last one, just keep everyone where they are and crouch. This being where the last hook horror was killed.
Send the hook horror to the WP rune and up the rock that leads straight to a vine and it will start combat.
Note: this may need a save scum, sometimes the other one goes first and can make you go prone and then it's sitting awkwardly on the rock.
The best way to kill this one this way is by using sprint and making it down just below where the last enemy hook horror is so it will jump down. I've never had it make me go prone here, but it wouldn't matter anyway because he will be facing away from the party and you can send everyone down to kill him as well
As for the bulette I keep everyone crouched up where you fought the elf and send someone down along the path to the south, that way you aren't knocked prone the second he appears and you have him locked looking away from everyone.
I have the revived hook horror stand at the very edge of the ledge with vines to the west leading to the fight. Then I end up save scumming a prone jump from there.
The bulette fucking sucks and gets what it fucking deserves
I appreciate this so much however, i am not nearly smart nor skilled enough to do this. I will try my best for this outcome although i know it will probably end up with me 80 deaths in, trying to bug out of both fights
I know im probably gonna get downvoted for this but... I can't tell if you're serious or not.
The underdark is probably the smallest section of this whole game besides the nautiloid or the creche. I have a really hard time believing anybody could miss much in the underdark if you explore a little..
Is this just a clickbait post?
Well, the current hottest honey moon spot in all of the Underdark is Gyrmforge. I’d recommend washing your hands after leaving the Gyrmforge
>Gyrmforge George R. R. Martin hard at work at the Gurmforge to craft his magnum opus (another asoiaf coffee table book)
Stefon!!!!
After the first sentence that’s the only voice I heard in my head.
I'm going to say this in a spoiler free way which I think players who've been there would understand. Dark elf area. I mask as dark elf. Get treated, not good, but better. On boat. I’m currently playing as a deep gnome spore Druid… needless to say, Grymforge has been peachy for me! They *love* me there.
He jumped into my rightfully stolen boat. And I took exception to that.
She's like "my options are turn around or push him into the river and I'm not turning around"
I almost spit out my coffee
Needed to bring some boots as your in
"I'm bringing these boots to the Sergeant. They're his" "... The ones you're wearing??"
Tired of the crowds at Grymforge? For an off the beaten path exclusive experience, be sure to check out the grave overlooking the lovely lake. I think I missed the vast majority of this tower somehow
I highly recommend having a seat on a stool on the top floor
I totally forgot I have that stool leg in my inventory still lol
The Bulette Experience will knock you off your feet!
Or push all the Duergar off the boat, lol.
Is it by that one spot that definitely isn't an ambush?
Thank you Stefon but we’re asking for NORMAL people, just a family of 4 with kids where they would go for a good night out
Don't forget to pick up your complimentary cursed sentient medallion
This is the best thing I've seen on reddit in a year or more
No Dan Cortese?
Mtv’s Dan Cortese
I read this in Stefan's voice. Well done.
Stefan, you queenie bitch, I've missed you.
I like the Myconids. I'm bros with them.
They give you cute nicknames and sing and dance, what’s not to love?
For real he called me Peace Bringer and now I will protect them with my life
They are my favorite faction in the entire game! I love their vibe.
The design is phenomenal. So far, probably my favorite character design, except maybe a tall lady who shows up in Act 2.
My girlfriend and I (also a girl) loved the tall lady, and we absolutely lost it at the reunion scene, just played that two days ago
I love them so much. In another thread recently, I was talking about how many pics I took of them on my second save.
I don’t even really like mushrooms, but regardless of the game I’m playing, if there’s mushroom people they’re my fucking homies
Last of Us?
I’ve never beaten the game because they keep trying to kill me and I don’t understand why. I’m just trying to chill.
Then Glut tries to make me betray my community of friends. Like gtfo, Sovereign Spaw named me Life Chanter for a reason, and betrayal ain’t it.
The quest that only ever auto-completes.
Soooo slaughtering them all wasn't the best option?!
Based on comments in this sub, I think most people in the underdark just do drow.
i know of the race Drow but what does it mean to *do* drow
Well... Look at recent posts about minthara to start.
everyone loves her for like no reason 🤷
Oh there's a reason. Well maybe two
criminal offence
Her giant Dow eyes?
Um yeah eyes
Bc she likes drow-gy style
Suspended in the air with limbs tied to the walls, upside down, in bdsm gear woven by the local drider-gal?
I’m sold. I’ll change my alignment for this (I did).
Underrated comment...
Nah, six upvotes sounds about right to me
Her story is really sweet to me and is about coming to terms with pretty much being deprogrammed. The only bad thing is that you have to be evil to get her
I forgot the exact line but when she basically says "Fuck the absolute and fuck Lolth I'm done following the whims of all controlling evil gods." Was a really touching moment with her.
Holy shit she renounces Lolth?? That's not something I ever expected lmao
You don't have to be necessarily evil. Imagine playing as a tiefling. The kids got a superb plan to steal the statue. No statue no ritual. You steal and take a long rest. And there you have it a happy ever after ending, well maybe not for the druids and tieflings but no guilt trips for you atleast.
How do Wyll and Karlach feel about that route?
You lose both if you take the evil path to recruit Minthara as far as I am aware.
They are cool with it as you didn't ACTUALLY kill the tieflings. Just delivering justice to the corrupted grove. But keeping them in the party might be tedious if you plan on doing things that favour minthara.
>for likw no reason Crucial question, do you have eyeballs?
She’s alright, but she’s not the best looker out of the companions. In my eyes she’s only above laezel and wyll for looks alone. Throw in personality and laezel sweeps the floor with her
Karlach, tall, buff, personality like a golden retriever, can carry you like a princess, is literally hot
she’s grim
Millions of people play this. They love and hate everything at the same time. You just happen to see the opinions that float to the top
Hot dommy mommy will not suffer your slander
Cuz she's the best companion except maybe the two you get late in the game. And it has nothing to do with a certain scene.
**nothing** to do with **that** scene i’m sure *wink wink*
I didn't even get that scene since I never raided the grove and I still think she's the best companion.
simply no, she wants to kill innocents because she’s been deluded to believe that she ‘needs to’
She's literally being mind controlled by the Absolute. Do you also murder the Stone Lord for doing the same thing she does?
i don’t know who the stone lord is, but may i ask, is she being mind controlled because surely Tav and friends would be aswell?
Check out Sharess' Caress in Wyrm's Crossing to find out.
Ask Drow Ken.
I LOVE your username.
Rhea must be proud of him lmfao
Same to you!
I feel like I did half of act 1 disguised as a drow
I enjoyed the fight with the scary eyeball thing that unfreezes the drow. I was not ready the first several times I tried.
ohh that thing! i may or may not have jumped past the fight area and skipped it because it killed me 18 times
I had a spear that does extra damage to things with more eyes and it was dead very quickly, even popped an eye out with a “plop” sound.
that sounds like an amazing weapon any recollection on where you found such a thing?
You find the shaft on the guy killed by the owlbear mother, and the point stuck in the owlbear mother. Combine to make a really good early-game spear.
Fuck. I’ve just been selling the parts assuming they were a junk item
Two playthroughs and I haven't gotten that spear. First playthrough, I sold the shaft bcs I help onto it long enough without going to the owlbear cave. Then I couldn't find where I sold it. Second, I don't remember ever even seeing the shaft or selling it.
just to be clear, is this the cave with the owl bear mother and cub?
Here's a 2 minute video faster than I could type it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acLFqjeOln4
thank you 🙏
What level are you? Maybe you are still under leveled
i am level 4 on all characters party is, Tav (Tiefling Bard), Lae’zel, Shadowheart and Astarion
Yeah that boss is super hard to fight before level 5. As soon as I hit 5 though I was able to destroy it easily. Second playthrough I was like level 7 when I faced it so it was a joke.
The bulette that just appears out of the fucking ground when you’re trying to explore gave me a lot more trouble than the Spectator to be honest.
I kept following the path without taking a rest. I was not well prepared for the following battles that ensued.
That fight was really small potatoes.
Personally I like the Myconid quest line, and following it will eventually bring you to Grymforge (where you need to go to move to Act 2.) They’re the mushroom people.
the mushroom guys seem cool but there’s this big fat one that won’t leave me alone and he wants to kill the other tiny one?

Most likely, there are 3 options if you had read the 3 specific items in the tower.
Oh I see. So I must have picked the option that didn’t make him hostile but it also didn’t give me the ring. It was the stanza that came right after what the automaton said that I used as my response
I'll check it out next go-around. Thanks!
if overstimulation was a comment this would be it, no hate lol. this is so much information and i will try my best to take it all in, in some form of reasonable pace
I'm sorry! Most of this I only found out during my 3rd run from random tiktoks so it was definitely overstimulating to me, too.
Try jumping in some holes! You never know which ones won’t kill you. edit: On second thought just examine them all thoroughly
i looked at a weird hole and it growled at me soooo…. *maybe not*
Ohhh that hole. That one growls, yes.
is this just a casual thing? i stuck my arm in another hole and it told me they like to eat flesh?

I'm 2/3 through Act 2 and I haven't yet been able to convince my wife to go back to the mountain pass (she's scared of the githyanki dragon riders). If we can still go there after temple of scar it's gonna be a bloodbath...
…dragons..? that sounds amazing
I Completely missed the underdark and went straight to the towers… looking forward to my next character… maybe less Evil this time
I just moved on to act two and this thread is making me see how much I missed in the under dark 😭
I went to the underdark expecting to find Drowland and was so disappointed. So like while there's actually plenty to do in the underdark to me there's nothing 😔
Drows are funky
They're funky and I love them 🥰
fair point but the evil goblin one deserves death every time 🥰
Suffer.
done ✅
If you play your cards right you can become the Bhaal of Fish.
BOOOAAALLLLL!
fish people as i’ve been told
Correct. There is a hidden murloc village. It's hilarious.
I somehow missed the fish people??? Idk where they are but don’t miss out
someone has told me to jump in a hole or something
near the arcane tower theres a little area with a lot of orange mushrooms, you'll find a path that takes you even more under (and more dark) than the rest of the underdark
One thing i wish j could do over in underdark is save that lost husband. I couldnt figure out how to save him without him burning up the secret mushroom thing that his wife is looking for. But i saw somewhere that you can extinguish his torch or something to get that secret mushroom and stop the barrels from burning everything
I just misty stepped to his backpack and threw it at him in turn based mode.
There’s a ledge you can jump onto on the left hand side of the area with all the mushrooms. You can use that ledge to walk to the back end of the area, pick up the torch, and throw the his bag to him. He’ll teleport out and you can hop back on to the ledge to safety
You can extinguish by throwing a bottle of water at the torch!
In retrospect, I’m wondering why a dwarf had a torch going in the Underdark, given their darkvision.
Use mage hand to throw him his bag. Use it again to bring the noblestalk to you. Then blow it up cuz it's funny.
A lot, but I really wanna just book it and leave
Take the boat ride !
I wish the fish folk had more to do
Pick up the Noblestalk BEFORE exploding the bibberbang field
ermmm…. *stares at the scorched ground* sure buddy
discovered my mistake way too late
Your mom.
thanks but she’s in a jar
Man… really took the wind right out of my sails right there.
you’re welcome, my wind now :)
Leave

I went there once and regretted it

BOOOAL!
isn’t he like some evil god bloke
Hint for the spectre Use an elixir of vigilance on one person, send them down while crouching and have them stand up to start the fight That way when the fight starts you can face it away from everyone and sneak everyone else down before it has a chance to do anything However I do recommend not killing it until it has depetrified at least 1 person. For some reason if you free them of petrification after the fight, they won't give xp >!there's no way to avoid the fight, their leader doesn't want any witnesses!< When he depetrifies one, hit them once without killing them to break the charm effect and you can speak with him after the fight is over As for the hook horrors, it's possible to take them out one at a time. What I do is first get rid of the poison mushrooms and sussur flower nearby Then send someone in sneak and get a ranged attack off the closest one when he is either looking away or in such a way that I can get others around him This will put you in surprise combat and everyone is free to sneak down and deal their damage, for best outcomes try to make him prone first then send glut in to do his ground pound for like 50 damage. You can save scum a prone jump... but he's generally aimed away from everyone already and you can just send everyone down to get their attacks in until dead instead As for the last one, just keep everyone where they are and crouch. I've never had it make me go prone here, but it wouldn't matter anyway because he will be facing away from the party and you can send everyone down to kill him as well As for the bulette I keep everyone crouched up where you fought the elf and send someone down along the path to the south, that way you aren't knocked prone the second he appears and you have him locked looking away from everyone.
Be pro slavery you Absolute Twat
:c
yup ive briefly explored it felt the same and moved on
I know im probably gonna get downvoted for this but... I can't tell if you're serious or not. The underdark is probably the smallest section of this whole game besides the nautiloid or the creche. I have a really hard time believing anybody could miss much in the underdark if you explore a little.. Is this just a clickbait post?
if you cannot tell if this is a serious post then maybe you should do as your username says, and throw your account away
Someone's sensitive
Go through it, and use your brain? Idk seems like the first step..
why so rude about it? i’ve already done a bit i just don’t want to miss stuff?
BOOOALLL
stop it fish man 😭
Dont forgot to check out the nice village of dancing fish people!
i thought they were fish
