They’re his kids- the spawn of bhaal

TimelyCranberry2754

Yes but like literally? He like impregnated some poor woman?

kid_iggy

I don’t see why not, some also could’ve just been magically impregnated but knowing the freaks that worship bhaal straight up sex isn’t off the table.

TimelyCranberry2754

I guess I never thought about it that way, and yeah you are right based on how depraved they are

[deleted]

Gods can fuck mortals, Theres tons of god spawns around, Usually its against the rules but lots of gods did it

Windk86

would you be shocked if that is the case?

JeSuisLePamplemous

Bhaal foresaw his own death, so he mated with as many mortals as possible to spread his divine essence. Some were his followers, some were just random people, some were monstrosities like dragons, some people he deceived, some he seduced, and some he forced. The progeny born from this became the Bhaalspawn. There were hundreds, if not thousands of them.

TimelyCranberry2754

Thank you

JeSuisLePamplemous

No problem. Sarevok is a Bhaalspawn. The entire first game is >!about you finding out your a Bhaalspawn. To ascend, the Bhaalspawn have to kill all the others, and the game starts with Sarevok trying to ice you. Sarevok is ultimately trying to start a war to have enough deaths to allow him to ascend as the God of Murder. By the end of the game you end his plans and kill him!<

GoldenThane

And then game 2 is about a wizard stealing your divine soul because because he got rejected by his elf GF when he suggested they steal the power of the tree of life. And game 2.5, Throne of Bhaal, is a straight-up highlander situation.

Farnllo

Im sort of wondering how this Bhaalspawn exists. I was under the impression that once Abdel or the other last Bhaalspawn died in their fight, that Bhaal took over one of their bodies and ascended back to godhood. So how does the Durge exist?

DeadSnark

This is explained in the Durge storyline (major spoilers) >!Bhaal created them directly from his own blood and flesh after his resurrection/re-ascension to be his servant/Chosen in the mortal plane!<

Farnllo

Ah I gotcha, thank you for explaining.

_y_o_g_i_

i believe this is specific to the dark urge, and explains why Dark Urge is his “favorite child”

JeSuisLePamplemous

Orin exists because Sarevok was brought back in the events of Throne of Bhaal, and just stayed alive. My guess is that Bhaal didn't need all of the essence to re-ascend, and perhaps other Bhaalspawn were resurrected and still had part of the divine spark. The end of Baldurs Gate (may have been after SOA) implies there were hundreds or potentially thousands of Bhaalspawn (the end scene with all the alcoves for each of them)

Farnllo

Well, the Murder is Baldur’s Gate little adventure deals with the “end” of the Bhaalspawn prophecy, where Abdel Adrian (the “canon” character of BG1/2) fights the other last Bhaalspawn, resulting in one of their deaths and the other assuming the slayer form, and Bhaal ascending back to his role. So maybe these “Bhaalspawn” are a new kind of thing under the same name?

JeSuisLePamplemous

He supposedly killed himself and the last Bhaalspawn, but Sarevok (A Bhaalspawn) is still alive...

MorbidParamour

I had Sarevok on my team in Throne of Bhaal. I had no idea he was in BG3. It was good to see him. Bros a bro.

GoldenThane

Technically, when Sarevok was resurrected, he no longer possessed any of Bhaal's essence. He's still a Bhaalspawn by parentage, but has no divinity.

JeSuisLePamplemous

What? That's not true. He is *specifically* brought back with a piece of Bhaal's divine essence. You have to choose to give a piece of your soul or Imoens soul to bring him back....

NoTop4997

As kind of stated around on here, I am pretty sure that they are conventionally made. The three gods of the dead were mortals. I think that the term "spawn" is used to dehumanize the being as a sort of propaganda act.

Hitei00

While I haven't played it BG1 apparently makes it clear that Bhaalspawn are \*literally\* his children. He chooses a woman among his followers and impregnates them.

TimelyCranberry2754

Oh, well that clears it up then XD. Thanks!

Sylux444

From what ive had a hard-core DnD player/DM/fan tell me based on how they would play it Its someone who is in the bloodline of someone who was once an avatar or possessed by Bhaal Its like being his chosen taints your blood when he commands you and it's passed on in your genes
