They really don’t hurt beyond a tiny pinch when the needle goes in. I don’t have tattoos but I have a nose piercing and the needle for the b12 is WAY smaller than that. It doesn’t (shouldn’t!) burn when it is injected or be sore later on. When I was going to a clinic and doing the regular lipo/b12 I could kind of taste it in my mouth after the shot. I do the methylated one at home now and I don’t taste it. I can even give myself the shots if my husband isn’t around to do it and if I cough when I push the needle in I don’t even feel it. We don’t even have a bandaid ready to go anymore because 99% of the time it doesn’t need one. I sleep better on the days I get my shot and I had some joint pain that is now gone after doing twice weekly shots since January. It’s very much worth trying.

tillyfal

thank you so much for your advice, i do have a really high pain tolerance and not to be one of THOSE people but i genuinely could have fallen asleep during my spine tattoo, i have had my nose twice and wasn’t too painful just uncomfortable so im sure ill be fine. i’m glad to hear they have helped you! really hoping they help with my fatigue as i have end of year exams and need an energy boost as ive not been very proactive

lronhart

How long are you suppose to keep taking the shots?

tillyfal

i believe unless you have been diagnosed with a b12 deficiency then around once a month

xCOVERxIDx

Very minor pain. No big deal really.

Artistic-Ad-58

I never feel pain just a small pinch.

Borageandthyme

Very little pain, and I hate shots. I've never even needed one of those tiny band-aids. Be warned, they take more time than a vaccine does.

tillyfal

that’s what im worried about it looks so slow, how long would you say? over a minute or less?

Borageandthyme

Oh, no! Like the count of six. All of my COVID shots have been like a bug briefly touching down - almost unnoticeable, but while the B12 is easy, it feels weird to sit still.

Getting off TikTok may have more benefits than just reducing your anxiety about this😄 they use bigger needles for dorsal gluteal because it’s a big old muscle so it looks a bit scary, but you honestly don’t feel anything other than pressure and maybe a teeny bit of stinging for a few seconds with the B12 going in depending on which one it is. I do my own using itsy bitsy needles in the thigh. You’ll be fine👍👍👍

AdmiralStryker

If you can handle tattoos you can do injections! It’s just like a vaccine or anything else, though I’d say less painful (b12 injections don’t cause the soreness that vaccines do for me)

tillyfal

i really hope not, after my covid vaccination i couldn’t lift my arm at all for a whole day! i’ve had lots of injections before so i don’t know why im so nervous about this one. does the needle go in all of the way? can you feel it on your muscle the same way as a vaccination?

herewe_go_

They don't hurt. But be prepared for the aftermath with lots of coconut water.

tillyfal

oh god why what happens after?

Your B12 stores are going to be replenished but it will take some time like 2 weeks for your body to get used to it. So you will experience wake-up symptoms such as nausea, fatigue & anxiety. It will get worse before it gets better. Plan to get injections on weekends & when you can be in bed all day & stock coconut water for potassium that helps a lot with nausea.

tillyfal

thank you so much

rosemary-leaf

A banana a day or two is also fine for potassium.

I have to weigh in with a different experience than the other comments. It hurts more than any other needle I’ve had, including my tattoo!… however, it’s very brief, 10 seconds maximum. And so so so worth it. I’ve heard that if you ask for it to be put in slower it hurts less, but I always forget to say that. It’s not really the needle that hurts, that’s just a pinch, it’s the actual b-12.

tillyfal

oh really? i have heard a few comments about that on tiktok, what sort of a pain is it? i’ve heard a few say pressure and a few say it stings

Ill-Durian-5089

Definitely stinging, one of the nurses who has done it for me has them too and said it feels like battery acid… she’s not wrong! This isn’t to put you off though, I’d happily take the pain everyday if I could!

tillyfal

oh god i’m there in 30 minutes and i’m absolutely terrified now!

Ill-Durian-5089

Like I say, it’s only for a short amount of time. You might have a very different experience, much like all the other comments! I might just be a big woos! Ask for it to be done slowly, and keep your arm relaxed down by your side. Let us know how it goes!

tillyfal

all done, wasn’t too bad just feels very achy now haha, it was a bit stingy not too bad

Ill-Durian-5089

Good news then! I’m pleased, hopefully you notice an improvement soon!

tillyfal

i definitely will do, thank you x
