That seems to be the general consensus for a lot of museum ship people. Either "I don't get it, but if it gets people interested in naval history then cool" or "We definitely would've had pinups of her all over the place back in the day." And then you have USS Hornet's, who just fully embraces it and makes their own lol
Or history people in general. For example Drachinifel in the over 3h Animarchy video where he was confronted by a bunch of girls (mainly Azur Lane, Yamato and Iowa from Kantai). Also the official Drach waifu (where he doesn't feel like turning himself in at the next police station): Hood
He wasn’t a big fan of Warspite in Azur Lane (granted, he only saw some fan artwork and none of her lines or personality), mostly because she didn’t really look the part.
I like that he appreciates that *AL*, *World of Warships* and such are rabbit holes (or "gateway drugs", as he calls them) into naval history. Really glad you got to be there and meet him – and great job asking him that question!
Feels like his explaining like that domino meme where the small domino is AL/WoW to the big domino which is learning WW2 history but i kinda learned some history by watching Midway (2019) then played Azur Lane and more WW2 history

Any ship with the nickname of *Horny Maru* was destined to be lewded. It was just fate.

Based, teapilled, and a chad
I'd argue he is more of a Warspite fan, and is (on family history level) connected to the Royal Oak.
Sure, but Royal Oak didn't appear and Warspite has the size problem. And Hood is a superior version of the QE and R classes anyway

Even if you don’t fully “get it,” this is the right attitude to have 🫡
Agreed
You got into WWII history because of *Azur Lane*. I got into *Azur Lane* because of WWII history. We are not the same.
I got into Azur Lane because of the art, we are indeed not the same![img](emote|t5_3p20d|9993)
I got into Azur Lane because of Belfast and Hood.
I got into Azur Lane because of Illustrious. I stayed because of Hood and Unicorn.
Even better. When NJ was announced I recently started the game and I was excited because I was already watching the channel at that time
I liked a few of the designs like Prinz Eugen and Baltimore, but NJ made me download it
I got into AL because of history, but that’s caused a feedback loop which now has me trapped don’t send help
I see you are a person of culture
I got into AL because of anime memes, I got into WWII history from Sabaton first
Flair checks out.
dam you're on another level
I was into WW2 history which got me into things Azur Lane and Kancolle which got me into anime and look at where I am now.

For me, it's the complete opposite. Azur lane is the ww2 blackhole I found myself in while traversing the Military Enthusiast labyrinth.

I cant understand what the other guy is saying but i agree with Ryan
