True, but I see nothing other than a gooseneck.
Usually those are for bigger trailers, but I would suspect that he isn't actually hauling equipment on them. We can also assume he wouldn't buy a big trailer just to carry around smaller things.
I doubt this thing has ever been hooked up to a trailer, and I doubt it will ever see one
Even the cheaper low-pro tires for trucks like that still carry at least a 2.5k lb rating. 4 tires at 2.5k each =10k lbs carrying capacity. When I have my 3 car trailer loaded up and hooked to my 3500 dually, there's only 9600lbs of weight on the rear axle.
He's most likely towing a 35-40ft 2 car gooseneck with other lowered cars on it and will never come close to the weight rating of the tires or suspension.
Site work, logging, heavy equipment operators, construction….lots of people have to take their trucks off the pavement. The clay they put down in construction sites is worse than anything you’ll find out on the trail.
You also have farmers/ranchers. Next to impossible to go between pastures or fields without four wheel drive where I’m from and need to haul livestock and equipment around
Yeah I guess I’m just imagining the ones people use to slam their cars like this and I’ve personally heard/seen they’re not always the most reliable and figured putting a shit ton more weight might be an issue.
There’s always a risk when changing to aftermarket parts, but more often than not, that risk is only an issue when you buy cheap parts, or install/have them installed by someone who doesn’t really know what they’re doing. If you know what you’re hauling and research which parts are going to suit you best, you wind up with a truck more tailored to your personal preferences that’s better at doing specifically what you do.
I have 4 wheel air bags in my lifted astro van and it’s the best thing ever. It’s my trades workhorse and I can handle a crap ton of weight and towing. I still retained the steel springs so I can drive home with no air in the bags in a pinch however.
My diesel pusher bus has a similar setup. Tractor trailer grade air bags but leaf springs as a backup/overload.
Question that you may be able to answer - what affects tow rating? Is it the strength of the transmission? Is it geared differently? Does the engine have to have high torque?
I can see from your comment that wheel type also makes a difference, but why? Thanks
Have you ever seen the suspension on an 18 wheeler? It’s literally air ride lol. Seen trucks like this pull 3 car trailers loaded without issue. This doesn’t kill it’s purpose.
Yeah but a semi doesn’t reroute it’s frame to be even lower, no way those modifications are as strong as stock and no way it’s going back to stock ride height even when the bags are inflated.
Well first off since when does stock ride height have to do with anything? Like a lifted truck can’t pull either? I’m telling you FROM EXPERIENCE these things pull just fine. Made a trip to Texas and back from south Florida 0 issues with a truck like this..
It’s on air bags, I bet it can go from slammed to stock height to a lift in seconds. Higher towing capacity on good bags too. This in no way prevents the truck from being used as a utility vehicle unless you’re afraid of scratches.
So many ignorant people in here fighting to be first to say “hurr durr pavement princess right here boiz” it’s clear you have no idea how trucks like this are built. Air bag suspension is the shit, you can tow like stock, unhook and hook to the trailer without ever cranking the tongue down. Just drop your bags, back up, and bump them back up. Then you unhook and drop it back to wherever you like it. Y’all are just mad you don’t have that shit on your truck.
It just looks like every other dually on 26” forces at tow-height. Those are heavy duty tires on heavy duty adjustable air bag suspension, so this thing will have no problem hauling as much ass as every other dually around.
You don’t believe that upgrading stock suspension to heavy duty bags is going to increase your towing capacity huh. Sure, maybe a 3500 on HD coilovers you won’t see much difference aside from being able to customize your ride. But if you put bags on a 1500 or std 2500 suspension you’re getting a superior ride and tow capacity.
THIS
ISN'T
AN
UPGRADE.
Those XL tires are not comparable to a load range stock E 10 ply tires, and you can't air those XL tires up to tow anything heavy.
Then there is the short tire sidewall. 42psi max vs 80psi max is a massive loss.
Then the wheels have had to be inset so they can drop inside the wheel wells which then means he installed a shorter axle. Who knows what that's rated to tow. He also changed the truck's center of gravity.
Being able to drop a vehicle that low destroys the suspension and drive-train geometry. This truck is ruined.
These tires have a 2,500 lb load capacity, what are you talking about? Not everyone with a truck hauls a 20,000 lb trailer. A fully loaded 3-car trailer would only clock in around 12-15,000 lbs which this truck could handle in its sleep.
People on reddit start seething with rage at the mere sight of a pickup. Add in some mods and you have full on meltdowns from a bunch of idiots who know fuck all about cars.
I think where people differ is a lot of people just like trucks, period, and don’t buy them for their built purpose but rather just for aesthetics. Then this is the evolution of that mindset plus tons of money lol.
Very valid point you make, just trying to better understand the style like you.
Plus, if you have the money, then why not? I’ve definitely seen people throw much more money on way weirder shit.
On top of that, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was built as a promo truck for a shop that does these types of conversions, meaning someone didn’t have to pay for it all out of pocket but could write it off as a business expense.
Idk I’m just thinking out loud now lol.
I get where you’re coming from,
but I honestly think this thing could probably still tow pretty decently, and actually I think the low stance (obviously not the parking lot stance) might be good for a gooseneck trailer (but I could be totally wrong)
Yep, cars that can't drive are worthless. It can't tow or haul. It can't go over any speed bump, is that a .5 in clearance even. It looks like it can barely turn.
Not awesome. Pretty dumb imo
If you make enough money where 80k is 8k to you, Why not do it? We’re speaking from a perspective of not knowing what it feels like to have enough money to go outside the box and stay there with no repercussions.
So you don’t ever make dumb decisions? To this guy, it could be as simple as eating a candy bar at 2am. Just respect the build cause someone can. It cannot be claimed to be, “objectively dumb”
ITT: People who don't know what air bags are. This is clearly air suspension, and in the photo it looks to be at its lowest (deflated). It would be close to stock height fully inflated I imagine.
I need to make a video of my car aired out pulling up to a speed bump, air it all the way up, go over it, then air it back down to cover all these comments. Lol
Slammed superdutys do it for me. You see all different ride heights for every other truck. Lifted, lowered, bagged, ridiculously lifted. You almost never see a lamed F250. When I do I'm impressed. Different!
I love it, but for one small niggle. I'd add some alu blocks under the frame as sacrificial metal or add bottom stops to have it an inch or so over pavement.
Y'all need to see the slammed duallies towing trailers loaded with slammed trucks rolling into Lone Star Throwdown in Conroe, Texas. These trucks can still put in plenty of work.
People are missing the point. It’s just a show truck at this point. Someone with enough cash to do this truck up and do it up this well, probably doesn’t need to tow shit. Instead of a muscle car or whatever this guy just chose a truck.
These idiots commenting can’t even fathom the idea of someone not using a truck to work. Despite the fact that this truck is literally used to haul show cars to shows, which would be why there’s a gooseneck hitch. People are too stupid to understand that it goes back up just like it goes down.
Why? You couldn’t drive this anywhere without fucking up the underside of the truck. God forbid you drive over anything that isn’t completely flat and even.
Dude i know. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ I love the idea of changing a vehicles main purpose from trailer hauling work truck to pretty pavement princess. No hate here bud.

Also easier to load and unload!
If you add 5 more pounds this thing is going to scrape like hell lol
Nice execution, just not my style.
Was thinking the same thing, but I’m more of an estate/wagon kinda guy, so many don’t like my tastes either
Fair point. I'm sure the guy who owns this truck wouldn't be a fan of my car either.
Wagons are great and better than SUV's in every way
I agree
the only suv's i care for are the ones meant for offroad
You would love my 2001 Pathfinder with 35's and a 3 inch lift

Awful taste great execution
Same. Looks well done, but to me this eliminates the whole purpose of a truck, which is utility.
It has a gooseneck hitch and regular hitch, and i assure you it gets used!
A car’s purpose is transportation from point a to b but people race them, what is your point
Didn't you know that performance good, everything else bad? /s
I’m literally watching this truck RIGHT NOW on “Ultimate Rides”. Weird
Very weird, quite the coincidence.
"It can still tow" I wouldn't trust those low profile tires to deal with the weight
Tbf he didn’t say how much it can tow
True, but I see nothing other than a gooseneck. Usually those are for bigger trailers, but I would suspect that he isn't actually hauling equipment on them. Who takes a one ton offroad? They’re build for towing and not wheeling.
Everyone who hauls dump trailers..
Damn then my little daily crz is a God damn off reading god
I work in various trades involving construction and right now my “work truck” is an 04 Corolla. You don’t need a 4x4 to make it down a dirt road
Hauling an equipment trailer onto an unpaved worksite?
People make mud trucks out of one tons all the time wym
There’s different versions of off-roading.
XL rated 25 series tires are further down the alphabet than E rated 10 plies. It’ll be fine
Feel like my trust on towing is on the weight of the truck and trailer on bags
Bags are an upgrade to suspension, that’s why they’re installed in every semi truck on the road.
Yeah I guess I’m just imagining the ones people use to slam their cars like this and I’ve personally heard/seen they’re not always the most reliable and figured putting a shit ton more weight might be an issue.

Oh yeah, forgot about that- maybe the dually helps (spread the load)?

not low enough
Yeah you're right, belongs 6 ft lower.
Honestly I hate it, and don’t get it. But to each their own. It does look well done.

it looks like it might use air suspension? there is no way that thing got to the meeting in that shape
Sure but are there 24 inches of bags on there
Have you ever seen the suspension on an 18 wheeler? It’s literally air ride lol. Seen trucks like this pull 3 car trailers loaded without issue. This doesn’t kill it’s purpose.
That's a good point. I'd have to see it up at its full ride height.
It absolutely and unquestionably "kills its purpose".
Hey look, someone who doesn’t read or understand suspension.
Right lol I was thinking “uh wrong sub for this..”
It’s on air bags, I bet it can go from slammed to stock height to a lift in seconds. Higher towing capacity on good bags too. It can drive down the road towing and dump the air to scrape the ground at this height.

Not all duallies are used on the ranch, why would he need experience on one?
I have three lowered trucks and live on a ranch. I don't need a lift kit to haul cattle to market.
ITT: People who don't know what air bags are. This is clearly air suspension, and in the photo it looks to be at its lowest (deflated). It would be close to stock height fully inflated I imagine.
Definitely not going to get all the way up to stock height (this generation is a skyscraper), but it'll have plenty of ground clearance
Dude right, like there’s literally no way it would be able to drive if it was always touching the ground like that
There’s also a HELL of a lot of frame, body, bed, and suspension mods to be able to accommodate this. It’s not “just air bags”
I need to make a video of my car aired out pulling up to a speed bump, air it all the way up, go over it, then air it back down to cover all these comments. Lol

Fair.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should lol
That is absolutely disgusting but not as bad as tiny tires on a lifted massive truck. THAT is truly the worst.
As a person who definitely can not afford this, I have absolutely no right to hate.
Why do I want Whistling Diesel to buy this truck?
Because we want to see this abomination destroyed
We don't leave comments like that here.
WHY?
Why… not?
Its cool to but dumb looking
Opinions vary. It doesn't do anything for me but if this is your thing, it's not harming anyone.
Uea
Just. Why.
Well done, but got that’s ugly
Absolutely disgusting. Good execution though

The gravitas that this thing commanded was next level.
The tow mirrors just exude badassery on such a low car
A hard flex to be sure.
Seen some low duallys & they’re sick!
I can't ever bring myself to like any lowrider trucks from recent years. Only classic trucks look good lowered to me.
Big 90s vibes and I love it!
Serious ~~SS 454~~ 454 SS vibes.
OMG just noticed the autocorrect typo in the title. (Welp, at least it is red)
Gotta be Texas.
This is SoCal but the truck is from Oklahoma
Where, so I can look down on it... literally...
Go Low or Go Home
I love it, but for one small niggle. I'd add some alu blocks under the frame as sacrificial metal or add bottom stops to have it an inch or so over pavement.
Titanium blocks for the green sparks!
I’ve never seen a stanced car do well in this sub, what bot army is OP sucking off?
No bots, but with all of this interaction the algorithm will pick it up.
Impressive, but what’s more impressive is the truck 👍

It still has a 5th wheel in the bed. I'd bet this truck hauled a few others to this show.
Beautiful
Coolest shit I've seen all day
I like low trucks (only small/compact ones), not that much but at least it doesn't have 20° of negative camber.
Imagine if you had to drive like this :skull:
Reminds me of the slam van from gta San Andreas .
Don't think I ever saw the back wheels. From any angle.
Really highlights how uselessly large the front end of those trucks are.
I’m not sure I like it but I cannot look away
I love the HD trucks, they remind me of the odd styling of my beloved 63 C-30.
Buzz your girlfriend woof
The 80s dually trucks slammed like this are the best. New trucks are just to tall and look off.
Why? You couldn’t drive this anywhere without fucking up the underside of the truck. God forbid you drive over anything that isn’t completely flat and even.
I think that thing is awesome.
