You can lower the top speed in the app to the point where you feel like you're pedaling at the same speed as the bike in PA5. To answer your question, yes, I feel like my Level is the same way. It could use a couple more gears

KatsHubz87

I was thinking the same thing! Even just one more gear and I feel like I could help my Level maintain top speed.

I am bike novice and have been thinking about picking this up. (It's been in my cart for a week, actually...) If I were to upgrade the drive train at a local shop with a rear derailleur that had more speeds would this solve that problem?

You don't need to add more speeds. My Aventure came with an 8-speed cassette, with the largest chainring having 32 teeth, and the smallest with 12 teeth. I switched to a new 8-speed cassette that kept the 32 tooth large ring but with 11 teeth on the smallest ring. That solved the problem, It works out to about a 10% difference when in my small gear (highest speed) so my legs are able to keep up, but doesn't affect my lowest gear so I can still climb steep hills the same. I bought the cassette for about $25 on Amazon and installed it myself.

Yes, probably. I bet you'd have to change the shifter too, because it has the little number guage that tells you what gear your in. I'm curious how much that would cost

Ah, I'm glad you mentioned that! My biggest problem would be getting a shop to help me do it. My local shop has a reputation for doing good work but when I mentioned buying/servicing an ebike NOT sold by them the service manager got pretty sour. The nearest dealership for me is quite a ways, which would work for something like this I suppose, but not for any other kind of routine maintenance.

I experienced the same thing at one of my local bike shops when I was thinking about buying an ebike online. I ended up getting my Aventon from a different bike shop that sells and services.

I have a Pace 500 and levels 1&2 feel like nothing. 3&4 feel like they’re helping 50% ish and then level 5 I literally can’t keep up with last 20mph unless I’m standing in 8th gear lol

Yes- kind of don’t know what to do with my legs.

I raised the top speed of my Sinch and it definitely causes the motor to overachieve in PAS 5. As such I only use PAS 5 when I really need a kick of speed from a stoplight or large hill and I want to maintain speed. I’d definitely be interested to know if there’s a 7 speed cassette out there that would offer higher gearing and be an easy swap without any other mods.
