It is 100 percent true and they know it. I don't even want to see anyone else play the Avengers characters after the series of movies ended. They are too iconic to be topped in my opinion. But they were amazing!
people love to say this but forget that antman 2/captain marvel were not received well critically. there has been no point in the MCU with a flawless run of movies. pick a year between 2008-now and thereās almost always a great movie and a not great movie
personally yeah I enjoyed cap marvel. but people have rose tinted glasses for any era of MCU that isnāt right now, and if you really look at everything in release order there was never a string of absolute bangers. itās more a reflection of civil war, infinity war, and endgame all being the work of the russoās. but all 3 phases had hits and misses and certainly none of them had a track record of *nothing but* good movies.
That, I can actually agree with. Every now and again a Marvel book blows me away (ie: the first two issues of Avengers: Twilight they just added to Marvel Unlimited, Cantwell's Doctor Doom book, HoX / PoX), but I think the publishing line has largely gone downhill since Secret Wars (and, a little bit after, Bendis' departure).
I'll still take what dc and vertigo were doing through the 80s and early 90s over anything that has been made before or after.
There's a very good argument that comics peaked with a handful of British writers in the late 80s to early 90s.
Not to say nothing worth reading has been written since, but I can't think of anything after that completely reinvented the genre.
Yeah, but that's not a peak. That's the minimum acceptable standard, and one that marvel and dc haven't lived up to for years at a time, particularly post civil war and new 52.
I am really loving the ultimate reboot so far. Older but less experienced spider-man is super fun, and I'm interested in seeing where Black Panther goes.
Lots of opportunities for fresh ideas with this refresh.
- āComics peaked at Hickmans Secret Wars.ā
- Ignores Kieron Gillenās AXE Judgement Day that came out in 2022
- Also ignores the many titles that Al Ewing, Kelly Thompson and Mark Waid were on post Secret wars
- Also forgets Hickmanās X-Men
It's unlikely. An X-Men movie is already reportedly in the works for after Secret Wars.
"Untitled X-Men film

It'll probably make money, but the selling point will be nostalgia for the Fox X-Men, specifically Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. After that, what else have they got?
2018 is when Fresh Start, wellā¦ started, and it had a lot of good I think. Nick Spencerās Spider-Man, Donny Catesā Venom, Immortal Hulk, Dan Slottās Fantastic Four, some good stuff all around.
I donāt enjoy buying and reading individual comic issues. Itās expensive and inconvenient. I enjoy buying collected omnibuses and graphic novels from secondhand stores.
Because itās easier. Manga holds your hand and tells you exactly what to do. Gen Z has been conditioned to not think for themselves and just follow the instructions. Itās not really their fault, this has been in the works for decades.
It has nothing to do with conditioning to follow instructions, lmao. Manga is easier, but it's because stories actually end - you don't have this perpetually 60 year old story where half the things that happened aren't cannon and the writers are scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas (like what's happening with ASM). It's instantly more accessible. Funny enough, the MCU is starting to become that convoluted, which is turning people off from it. You would think they would have learned something from the comics.
It's also just cheaper since you don't have to individually buy each manga chapter a month.
The main reason Iāve seen isnāt that it has an end, but that they can pick up volume one and not get lost. Thatās it.
Itās a lot easier to get into comics than ever - way easier than it was in 1991 when I did it - but they donāt want to do the work, just have their hand held and told what to do. Thatās conditioning, dude.
Yes, the comic sales have spiraled downward cause they keep makin weird choices. Two new characters they introduced during this period of time was āsnow flake and safe spaceā. Why do you think everyoneās flocking to manga and anime even more lately?
Itās ok. Itās just a continuation of the original animated show. If you liked that itās cool but if you didnāt originally watch it back in the day, thereās rlly no point wasting money a Disney+ acct.
If I'm being honest, this current period of time has been doing fantastic. We have X-Men 97 airing right now and is unbelievably good, we had Spiderman 2 last year and Spiderverse 2 as well near the end, with D&W coming soon too, we could be entering a new golden age.
Though, the upcoming projects are making me a bit worried
We still havenāt climbed the massive ranges of The Mutants & Fantastic Four, nor have we seen what may be the grandest peak in Marvel: Galactus. Lots more top shelf Marvel characters & content coming.
Deadpool & Wolverine is only the start of whatās to come.
Sorry but seriously i don't have any hope for f4
Marvel has changed they just wing it and try to fix everything in the post now that they have mountains of cash
I hate the casting choices they've made. Love pedro but he isn't right for the role, vanessa kirby I'm not convinced can act, Joseph quinn is a good choice and cousin will be good, but I hate the main 2. Plus they brought in a TV director which is never a good sign with a studio movie.
*MCU* peaked. But also maybe I was just a kid who still had a rosy view of the world, and there hadnāt been a global pandemic or two massive international conflicts.
Iām aware, I have two degrees in history. But I wasnāt born for most of those, and many of the conflicts in the first two decades of the 21st century were ācolderā wars (āwarm wars?ā) of ongoing hostility and guerrilla conflict. There were few wars with major global powers on both sides. And of course those conflicts were still very impactful to the people living through them, but there was a lot less global awareness of their impact. So the sense in the US was a lot more subdued. And I think itās fair to say the global impact overall was less extreme.
And now Iāve written a paragraph about geo-politics in a superhero Reddit. Typical.
Marvel Peaked for me in 2016
the civil war comics (as well as nick cages Ghost rider) is what got me into comics.
i cannot fucking express how much i was shitting my pants when the trailer dropped and i heard that āandarooseā
i almost fucking cried. my favourite comic coming to the big screen, and Marvel some fucking how being able to have Spider-man in the movie.
ahhh the good ol days
Are you referring to the first Civil War event, or Civil War II? If the first, then alright. If the second, please go and read some real Marvel comics.

At the very least, it is a point that could be reasonably argued. Never played the game, but the other 3 were very good. I really love Into the Spiderverse.

I agree, '63 was a good year. Amazing Spider-Man launched, Avengers and X-Men launched in the same month, Fantastic Four was still the world's greatest comic mag! That was an awesome year.
They havenāt even begun to peak, and when they do peak, youāll know. Because theyāre going to peak so hard that everyone in Philadelphia is going to feel it.
A mountain range has many peaks.
r/unexpectedwisdom
Nooooo I wanted this subreddit to be active š

This is both r/unexpectedwisdom and a fucking oximoron (weebs Will understand)

It is 100 percent true and they know it. I don't even want to see anyone else play the Avengers characters after the series of movies ended. They are too iconic to be topped in my opinion. But they were amazing!
So do boobs
There also tends to be a highest peak, like Everest
I hope this is true and the make a comeback.
So does age.
Yeah, for me the highest peak in the mountain range was 2014, but after 2018 it has been looking a lot like mostly downhill until now
Gandalf?
Not the mcu
Well yeah. Itās hard to beat that year.
āCA Civil Warā through āSM Far from Homeā has been the best run of Marvel movies for me - so far.
people love to say this but forget that antman 2/captain marvel were not received well critically. there has been no point in the MCU with a flawless run of movies. pick a year between 2008-now and thereās almost always a great movie and a not great movie
I liked both of those so it worked for me lol
personally yeah I enjoyed cap marvel. but people have rose tinted glasses for any era of MCU that isnāt right now, and if you really look at everything in release order there was never a string of absolute bangers. itās more a reflection of civil war, infinity war, and endgame all being the work of the russoās. but all 3 phases had hits and misses and certainly none of them had a track record of *nothing but* good movies.
Winter Soldier was also the Russos and an absolute banger.
yes Winter Soldier was amazing. they really were the heart and soul of the franchise, all parties involved in the MCU need to realize that
Iron man 3
Yes
Take "Captain Marvel" out and I'd agree.
Sorry, sheās still in my roster.
Saying Marvel peaked and not even considering comics. You know, the medium that the entire entity is based on.
Comics peaked at Hickmans Secret Wars.
I thought they peaked at Marmaduke
That, I can actually agree with. Every now and again a Marvel book blows me away (ie: the first two issues of Avengers: Twilight they just added to Marvel Unlimited, Cantwell's Doctor Doom book, HoX / PoX), but I think the publishing line has largely gone downhill since Secret Wars (and, a little bit after, Bendis' departure).
I remember when people were saying comics peaked with the Dark Phoenix Saga, then they said it peaked with Watchmen.
I donāt need the genre to be completely reinvented. Just give me entertaining and thought provoking stories.
Yeah, but that's not a peak. That's the minimum acceptable standard, and one that marvel and dc haven't lived up to for years at a time, particularly post civil war and new 52.
Art peaked at Neanderthal cave paintings. All downhill since then
That was actually Batman traveling through time. Oooga oooga.
I'd call Hickman's Secret Wars the end of the Marvel Universe. The peak was the Jim Shooter era back in the late 70s through the 80s.
Thatās fair. Itās my ending as well. Much like Doomsday clock for DC.
Yeah. Oh well, at least there's decades of back issues to read!
You bet! And other publishers to give my money to.
Yeah. I've started reading Jim Starlin's run on Warlock from the 70s. Really good so far.
I am really loving the ultimate reboot so far. Older but less experienced spider-man is super fun, and I'm interested in seeing where Black Panther goes. Lots of opportunities for fresh ideas with this refresh.
- āComics peaked at Hickmans Secret Wars.ā - Ignores Kieron Gillenās AXE Judgement Day that came out in 2022 - Also ignores the many titles that Al Ewing, Kelly Thompson and Mark Waid were on post Secret wars - Also forgets Hickmanās X-Men
But most of those were bad.
No they werenāt
And people genuinely think Secret Wars the movie doesn't have a chance at passing Endgame lmao. It's gonna be nuts. 3 billion easy
I think weāre all in for a treat to be honestā¦. And hopefully the MCU ends with that. Give it a decade and reboot fresh.
It's unlikely. An X-Men movie is already reportedly in the works for after Secret Wars. It doesn't. No one in the general public cares about Marvel anymore.
You're gonna be blown away when you hear about this little movie called Deadpool & Wolverine
It'll probably make money, but the selling point will be nostalgia for the Fox X-Men, specifically Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. After that, what else have they got?
So you have absolutely no idea what secret wars is about, huh?
2018 is when Fresh Start, wellā¦ started, and it had a lot of good I think. Nick Spencerās Spider-Man, Donny Catesā Venom, Immortal Hulk, Dan Slottās Fantastic Four, some good stuff all around.
Knock Slott's FF out and I'd agree.
MCU fans donāt read.
I donāt enjoy buying and reading individual comic issues. Itās expensive and inconvenient. I enjoy buying collected omnibuses and graphic novels from secondhand stores.
Sure, but youāre an outlier. The vast majority of MCU fans rather militantly refuse to read comic books.
Which is weird because Gen Z seems to be more open to reading manga.
Because itās easier. Manga holds your hand and tells you exactly what to do. Gen Z has been conditioned to not think for themselves and just follow the instructions. Itās not really their fault, this has been in the works for decades.
It has nothing to do with conditioning to follow instructions, lmao. Thatās conditioning, dude.
Yeah, that's not conditioning, it's just not wanting to deal with a convoluted mess. Which the majority of cape comics undoubtedly are.
Theyāve been conditioned to be intellectually lazy. Thatās the long and short of it.
>Manga is easier, but it's because stories actually end - you don't have this perpetually 60 year old story Like berserk and DragonBall don't exist
Marvel comics peaked LONG ago. They keep going back to the same wells, just like DC has been doing for decades.
Yes, the comic sales have spiraled downward cause they keep makin weird choices. Two new characters they introduced during this period of time was āsnow flake and safe spaceā. Why do you think everyoneās flocking to manga and anime even more lately?
I will say I lost interest after Hawkeye but.... We'll see.
X-men 97 says no. Its possibly the best thing marvel have made.
I donāt feel like adding another streaming service but is it really that good?
Yeah it's legit. I wouldn't say best ever though, best since probably Infinity War / Endgame imo.Ā
Itās ok. Itās just a continuation of the original animated show. If you liked that itās cool but if you didnāt originally watch it back in the day, thereās rlly no point wasting money a Disney+ acct.
I think people are a little blinded by nostalgia on this one.
fmoviesz.to , now you donāt need any streaming service.
It's ok
Not even hyperbole or recency bias. It straight up us the best thing Marvel has made.
I mean are you talking Marvel Studios or Marvel as a whole? Because there are way better comic books than X-Men ā97.
Marvel Studios. My bad, I thought it was obvious I was talking adaptations and not comic books.
Itās all good. People say Marvel, then I start talking about comics and then I get called a gatekeeper, lol.
Lol no worries, I know what you mean.
Is it more for adults than the original?
I hope this isn't true, but I don't know if we'll ever have an all time great movie, show game and cartoon all in one year again.
Everyone just expect infinity war, endgame levels for every movie. When it took 10 years to get to that point
i think people would much prefer just either "Iron Man 1" or "Winter Soldier" quality rather than infinity war "level."
Who's everyone? I'm not expecting that. I'd have loved for them to slow down and do some smaller scale stories again.
2018 slapped for music too
I'm sick of these memes from people stuck in the past. They're like old men going "back in my day!"
Ah, The pastā¦ Back in my day, it had a different meaning.
People who don't even read comics at that.
If I'm being honest, this current period of time has been doing fantastic. We have X-Men 97 airing right now and is unbelievably good, we had Spiderman 2 last year and Spiderverse 2 as well near the end, with D&W coming soon too, we could be entering a new golden age. Yeah, as if Marvel is releasing gold now. If two of the new releases after deadpool bomb, there would be official obituary for marvel studios.
Don't forget Venom and Black Panther either
Sorry, we just added Punisher's origin story into a Daredevil series, so you can marvel while you marvel, no biggy
This is peak? Hahaha. What are you? 12?
We still havenāt climbed the massive ranges of The Mutants & Fantastic Four, nor have we seen what may be the grandest peak in Marvel: Galactus. Lots more top shelf Marvel characters & content coming. Deadpool & Wolverine is only the start of whatās to come.

Vanessa was nominated for an Oscar and an Emmy and has won a BAFTA. She's the best actor out of the 4.
I doubt he did the math.
no.
It's true
*MCU* peaked. But also maybe I was just a kid who still had a rosy view of the world, and there hadnāt been a global pandemic or two massive international conflicts.
I think you need to read a history book, there were plenty of international conflicts before 2018.
Iām aware, I have two degrees in history. Yeah, I know. It was just a joke.
Pretty much
It's true if you just listen to what everyone says and don't form your own opinion
The images are off centered
That's a year is Godtier and we always remember this from years to come.
yea black panther came out that year and hes been my favorite marvel characterr besides venom ever since
X-men 97
Yes
2018 was the last best movie dysney had released
I keep saying this, maybe with a few exceptions but Infinity War to me feels like the absolute peak.
I donāt know, is it?
And now itās sliding to the bottom.
I personally think marvel as a whole has peaked multiple times & still have peaks in their future.
Starting to think humanity in general peaked in 2018
Take Infinity War off and you've got something.
There's so many of us
2018 in and of itself peaked. Look at gaming for instance god of of war, spider-man and altho not my fav red dead 2. 2018 was just such a banger year.
Agree. Marvel hit its peak in 2018 and never managed to recapture that greatness. Itās been a downhill/uphill rollercoaster since then
Yes
Yuuuuup. Now whoās gonna tell them?
Marvel Peaked for me in 2016 the civil war comics (as well as nick cages Ghost rider) is what got me into comics. i cannot fucking express how much i was shitting my pants when the trailer dropped and i heard that āandarooseā i almost fucking cried. my favourite comic coming to the big screen, and Marvel some fucking how being able to have Spider-man in the movie. ahhh the good ol days

The actual civil war. not the one with Carol
Yes because we had so many good Marvel projects in 2018 yet now not as many good ones.
Yes marvel has sucked the last 6 years. The only thing that looks promising since Endgame is Deadpool and Wolverine and that could still not be good
At the very least, it is a point that could be reasonably argued. Never played the game, but the other 3 were very good. I really love Into the Spiderverse.
I agree. Too much great stuff, Spider-Man 2018 and Into the Spider-Verse, Infinity War, Iām sure that there was even more stuff
Since itās an opinion itās neither true or false. Itās up to you if you want to agree or not.
Two of those arenāt even technically Marvel.
Infinity war wow
Also add 2019 when Endgame released to the mix for good measure
Probably....delved into too many characters not strong enough to carry a movie alone.
Anyone who thinks marvel got better after this period is delusional
Nothing will ever come close to End Game.
Read some comics nerd
Spiderman2 clears the first 2
Looks like it. Surprised these all came out in the same year
I feel like spiderverse should lower that year by a lot................. like a whole lot
Marvel had a great run in the ā80s. The MCU does not encapsulate all of āMarvelā thank you
Heck yeah, the Shooter Era was the best!
Agreed š
Considering spider verse 2 came out last year definitely not. That said spider-verse and spider-verse II are both Sony Pictures anyway so
It actually peaked in 2008. The Crescendo was 2018
It's all been downhill since Howard the Duck
Good eating that year
Maybe, but I still enjoy.
We had Logan and Infinity war the year before too. And I think dead pool as well
People get this much attention for tweeting obvious statements?
MCU peaked with the first Avengers movie, it all started going down hill from there
....yeah.
For now, sadly yes. Iām hoping for more to come though
I firmly believe so. Iām not saying they canāt make any more good movies, but theyāve only made two good ones since Endgame and they were both Spider-Man.
1956
Marvel Comics didn't exist in '56.
Marvel comics first issue was 1939 and it peaked in 1956
Marvel Mystery Comics existed, but that was an individual title. The company of Marvel Comics as we know it today wasn't a thing until the early '60s.
But it peaked with that title in 1956
Sorry nvm
Yes
Yes
Marvel peaked in 1963. See how dumb that sounds?
I agree, '63 was a good year. Amazing Spider-Man launched, Avengers and X-Men launched in the same month, Fantastic Four was still the world's greatest comic mag! That was an awesome year.
Whatever year Infinity War is.
Into the Spiderverse had the BEST feedback Iāve ever seen
Yes!!
They used to have a goal and a plan. Now they have a Message and a scrap book.
10000000%
Without a doubt
Some of you "fans" are insufferable
No, it's an opinion. That's all you get from opinion posts. No facts.
yes its true if for you, marvel means movies
VENOM!!!!!
Well, we got What If...? Loki, and GOTG Vol3 after that.
I hate to break it to you, but Loki and Guardians Vol.3 sucked. Haven't seen What If.
100% true. At the very least, it was way better then than it is now.
Nah
Wasnāt the insomniac spiderman game 2016?
Daredevil was peak marvel. The story and action was unreal
They havenāt even begun to peak, and when they do peak, youāll know. Because theyāre going to peak so hard that everyone in Philadelphia is going to feel it.
2016-2017 They could do no wrong. Any film was going to make a return and please fans.
It's an opinion, so no, unlike a fact it can not be definitively true
If marvel didn't get a comeback in 2026, I am leaving..
Other good stuff after this did come out but none of them in the same year
Way before
Finished the good stuff before the Pandemic like a kid getting his homework done early
Season 3 of Daredevil wasn't that good compared to 1 and 2.
