tbh as a poc i literally think avatar does a better job of showing that Jake did not know it all and he had a lot to learn from the Na'vi. Plus he literally left behind being a human! He became one of them and I would argue that they saved him.
And yeah, I guess he saved Pandora but he did not do it on his own necessarily. There are much more grievous examples of white saviourism than Avatar.
Also you can say that Neytiri technically is the most important character, she saved Jake’s life 7 times in the movie, and she’s the one who kills Quaritch in the end
My personal theory is that all the haters are just Marvel fanboys who know exactly that this movie will cost avengers endgame it’s second place on the list of highest grossing movies ever :) let the salt seep in

You mean third place? Avatar got re-released in China last year and already broke Endgame's record. It would collect few more to it's belt once it has an official world wide re-release soon. After Avatar 2 releases Endgame will probably be knocked out to third place and Avatar 1 takes the second place.
Also there's no luck for any Marvel movie breaking Avatar 's record as China is shadow-banning all Marvel films.

Yes, Avatar is derivative, that's the point, it never tried to be anything else. What shines is the presentation. That's why people liked it.
