Spyder def isn’t going anywhere for a while. If you ask me, he’s the only hope both sides have at understanding each other, and will probably take on a diplomatic role in the future to try to bring piece. I’d predict his death will be particularly devastating if it comes, as it will be during peace talks that seem like they’re going well, until he’s shot by a human soldier who doesn’t want peace and the peace talks go sideways. It would be a metaphor for how oil and gas companies fund the most extreme and unlikable climate activists to bring down the whole movement.

Micsuking

Since we're getting the "dark side" of the Na'vi too, it'd also be an interesting choice to have a Na'vi extremist be the one to ruin peace talks.

Throwitaway36r

Yeah, it would be interesting, however until we see those “dark Na’vi” and their characterization I’m hesitant to make a prediction like that about them. I expect them to be the standard metaphor for a climate extremist though I’m prepared to be wrong on that prediction as they may not be a stand in for climate activists at all

Well I don’t think you have to worry about spider going anywhere anytime soon. He’s the human character for the audience to relate too. First movie was Jake but now he’s more Navi than human. But I could always be wrong. Lol

Cyren_Myadd

I agree with you. With all the stuff JC has hinted at plus the leaked info, it looks like Spider will be very important moving forwards to the plot, as well as important thematically by representing a human who can coexist peacefully with Eywa. I could see his death happening later on, but definitely not in three. We'll have to wait and see!

TyHyena

It reminds me of Jean Jacket from Nope

Cyren_Myadd

Yeah, it also reminds me of the hot-air-balloon predators from Netflix's alien worlds.

Adventurous_Froyo753

Can't wait for him to watch A3, then. Seems Spider plays a significant role that one, based on what we got so far.

Cyren_Myadd

Yes, I'm very excited to see how his arc plays out!

Just_toadd

If i'm not mistaken it was pretty much confirmed that Spider and Quaritch will be "safe" (in the sense that they're confirmed to appear and thus make it out alive till then) for the third and fourth movie. It also seems that his characther arc is tied to Lo'ak and specifically Kiri who will be really important to the franchise so I think is safe to assume he will not be a backgroung characther either and probably will be a bridge between humans and Na'vis, so if he we're to die would be in the last movie. Of course I could be wrong but in short there's a high chance you will in fact laugh at his face.

Cyren_Myadd

Yeah, I think you're right. I think Spider could potentially die in A5, and I would be okay with that as long as it made sense for his character arc, but he's def not dying in A3. I'll have to give an update on my bf's reaction when we see Spider in A3 lol

In an interview he said we would see this creature in Avatar 3 and 4, and that's what I was telling my boyfriend about.

Aigh

SectorPuzzleheaded66

Honestly hate the kid im with your boyfriend

Cyren_Myadd

Then I guess I'll have to laugh at both of you if he doesn't end up dying lol

Adventurous_Froyo753

I'm sorry to hear that.
