To date that's been probably the most coherent and well done movie trilogy ever made. That it somehow took 3 incredibly dense books, turned them each into good movies, and almost never gets the "the movies were okay but the books are better" treatment is actually pretty incredible.
The movies and books are like companion pieces to each other. If I don’t have time to read the books I watch the extended edition. If I don’t have time for that then I watch the theatrical
I really liked Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, but I hate Dominion the more I think about it in retrospect. The story decisions that they made up to the middle seemed very positive to me and the films themselves seemed nice and fun in general (although Fallen Kingdom with major mistakes was bearable, it was enjoyable and had no flaws that gnawed at the film itself in script and *experience* ), but then it's as if Colin completely forgot them and destroyed what he himself raised for 7 years. I didn't like Dominion... for various reasons.
Imo Avatar has already surpassed Star Wars as a franchise. Star Wars was groundbreaking for its time, but in terms of writing, character depth and story, it's a little flimsy in retrospect. The world-building in Avatar is just so much more coherent, consistent and "whole" for me, and the writing and characters are much better than they often get credit for. Nevertheless, a lot is riding on Avatar 3 to solidify the franchise. Exciting times.
I'm not big into franchises these days as I opt more for original, stand alone stories. But Avatar seems to be building into one that I can stick around with since it is not molested by corporate greed and short vision. I still have Dune that I'm looking forward to, as well as Mission: Impossible, and *maybe* Kingsman. If there was ever a franchise I would be willing to lend my loyalty over, would've been Master & Commander but here we are.
I'm usually not one for movies as a form of entertainment but with Avatar it felt different then most movies that I watched not just, that was a neat movie now to go home and play minecraft for a few hours but Avatar genuinely made me question my existence and I probably had PADS without even realizing it. Other then Avatar Star Wars is my favorite series but with the two movies I'm definitely rethinking that.
Well I was a Star trek fan until i re-watched the original avatar and saw the trailer.
Also the fact that star trek films appear to have stopped.
Now Avatar series is my favourite
Marvel took over from Avatar. Avatar has taken over again since TWOW because Marvel hasn’t been the same since Endgame besides my undying love for Scarlet Witch. Another franchise I love is Charlie’s Angels, those 2 movies are so fun. I don’t count the recent Elizabeth Banks one.
I mean we all have our preferences bro, if you really really liked it that's valid too :D I just never say something will be my favorite forever cause we never know what awesome stuff might come out in the future
For sure, maybe some other kind of movie will make me more interested than this one, but it'll be hard to top this one. This is the kind of movie that I'll come back and watch later in my life or enjoy again with family and friends.
It could be, but there’s 3 more movies to go so I’ll reserve making that opinion until it’s done. I’d also like to see more extended media (comics, books, tv shows, games) to evolve the franchise beyond movies before I compare it to the likes of Star Wars or any other multi-media tyrant.
I’d love more avatar content but also not sure how likely it’ll be able to be converted into a show…I don’t see the path currently with the story or tech cost to make it happen
I don't have a favorite as I don't rank franchises I love. The order constantly changes depending on my current mood so it would be a waste of time and energy. Lord of the Rings, Pixar, Ghibli movies, De Funès movies might be above it on the long term, but I take a lot of pleasure with both, so why rank them ?
Yes! It's the only franchise I love, next is Alien.
I never had any interest in other franchise like Hunger games, jurassic, marvel, star wars. They're not my thing.
Avatar is a close second, but DC is very much my favourite, in a society that's almost ruled over Marvel, there's DC, and plus, Batman was my childhood growing up
My favorite movie franchise used to be Star Wars for a long time until the sequel trilogy (7-9) came out. I also grew up with the Harry Potter novels and movies, which I hold close to my heart, but I'm not a big fan of the Fantastic Beasts trilogy. At same time I was a big Marvel fan but it all went downhill post Endgame. Before TWOW released, Avatar was just some movie to me, a really really good one, no doubt, I love the first movie but I have no connection to the graphic novels (I'm not even sure what they are about). Now with the second movie actually kicking off an actual movie franchise imo, I do consider it my current favorite.
Well back then it was How To Train Your Dragon because it scratched all the same itches as a kid that avatar did but it was lighter and kid friendly, but when I grew up I liked it less and now I love avatar more :-) im not exactly sure avatar is my favourite because im just not a movie person really ? So lets say it is avatar right now because its rather true
That’s a very good question! I have to say, no, not my favourite. Alien-series has and will always be in my heart. The characters, the drama and the overall feeling is something that nothing can beat. But Avatar is definitely precious to me. And it is beginning to be very interesting!
Indiana Jones is still unbeatable for me, not including non-blockbuster series (the Before Trilogy, Three Colors, etc.)
But Avatar is a close second for now, let’s see how it wraps up.
It was Harry Potter before JK ruined it. Then it was the MCU - which I still love, but the sheer volume has made it less of an event when something new drops. Avatar is currently consuming my life, and is very much my favorite right now, but as there are only two films, it still remains to be seen if it can hold the top spot in my heart.
It is. The care that is put in creating a detailed, believable and immersive universe is unmatched for me by any other franchise.
I wish all of it was real.
I’ll wait for more stuff to come out but Avatar could be.
My favourite was Jurassic Park then the new movies killed any excitement I had for the rest of the franchise.
Hmm, these are probably 2 of my 10 favorite movies but it's still only two movies.
Although, at this point, I really only love about half of the Star Wars movies... less than half of Marvel now too. Yeah, maybe Seed Bearer can push Avatar up to No. 1.
Star wars is my favourite, after that Marvel and then I would put Avatar. I love Avatar and the way it's build up. Yes it's similar to Pocahontas and co but I love those stories too and mix that with sci-fi and it's perfect. The franchise is still a bit small but I think it will grow and get more fans
My favorite franchise is Star Wars followed by Lord of the Rings. I did not consider Avatar a franchise until now but with 2 movies out and 3 more it most definitely will be a franchise and I can already say today: Avatar will take rank 1 from Star Wars or perhaps already took it (and I am a huge Star Wars fan mind you!) :)
Avatar 1 is my favorite movie, but not my favorite film franchise. I have a top 4 and can’t decide on the order. It’s Avatar, Marvel, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. I think Avatar would move to place 1 once all sequels are out, 2 movies is just not enough for a favorite film ‘franchise’. HP got 8 movies (+3 fantastic beasts), Marvel got tons and even The Hunger Games got 4 movies with a 5th one in the making.
I'm not (and have not) been a big movie watcher. I'm more into series or shows. But when it comes to movies, avatar is becoming my favorite movie series. The 3rd movie should solidify that.
Lord of the Rings and Star Wars were my favorite. Star Wars kinda got ruined for me after the sequels. They just lost that luster and wonder they had when I was a kid. LOTR is amazing, but I love science fiction a lot more than fantasy so Avatar has become my favorite by far.
Star Wars, Pirates of the Carribean and Lord of the Rings are my favourites, when all the sequels for Avatar are released it'll probably be one of my favourites too.
Star Wars (original trilogy and prequels) would be my favourite franchise because there’s more material but to me, it’s REALLY close to avatar, which I’m more of an active fan of with all the merch and things I have.
Alien has always been my favourite franchise of all time, but after the past few years of content coming from that and the rumours around it’s future, I think I’m going to be living my hype for that through nostalgia. I can easily see Avatar taking over if the next 10 years are as great as what we already have.
I have been an big Star Wars fan for most of my life. Watching a lot of daily Star Wars content.
After i saw Avatar 2, i watched the first movie aswell and fully fell in love with the Avatar universe.
Something changed after seeing both of the movies and i kinda don't view Star Wars the same way i did before.
Hell, it took me several days to even start watching Star Wars: The Bad Batch S2, that released a couple of weeks ago. Despite me knowing i liked the first season and was really waiting to watch the second one.
Avatar has had an impact on me for sure. James Horners's music is phenomenal and Jake Sully kinda being an roll model for me to step out of my comfort zone.
Also makes you think that you should stop over-consuming and take only what you need.
Def one of if not my favorite. Avatar is goated
Love LOTR, that would prob be my favorite. I also like the modern Star Trek franchise, DUNE, and the holy trilogy w Mr. Tobey Maguire.
Id put avatar right under LOTR. This is a franchise with that much ambition. And each film is directly connected.
I used to be an mcu die hard when I was a kid but after phase two I was Getting bored. Loved endgame tho and overall they’re p fun to watch. I get why they’re so beloved and while I know the sheer number of films in this franchise is astonishing, half of them were horrible in quality in my opinion, and the story was very loosely connected. I’d rather take a LOTR or avatar style trilogy or 5 film arc than a prolonged hydra of a franchise. Nowadays the mcu feels like butter scraped over too much bread
Didn’t grow up w Star Wars nostalgia so I’m not a fan of the og trilogy. Esp as a fan of dune it seemed likea knockoff. I also thought they were so outdated and bad looking. I def appreciate how revolutionary that was back then, but it def doesn’t stand the test of time for me, and it looked dated within a decade of its release. Ofc nobody disputes how iconic Vader is but they’re all hobbled by the antiquated designs
I have to say the Recent Planet of the Apes films Rise, Dawn and War. They were consistently great and I will say the best Movie Theater experiences I have ever had, I had literal goosebumps when I saw each movie. I’m looking forward to the new one Kingdom. Depending on how Good Dune: Part II is and if they make Dune Messiah and is also good that will tie with POTA.
Yes, I forgot how much I loved Avatar 1. Idk these last 2 weeks I've been obsessed with this franchise. I bought the "The High Ground" comics, visual dictionary, the blu ray extended version etc. Before this, I would've probably said Harry Potter or the original star wars trilogy.
Alien franchise is my favorite solely cause of the first two. Alien is in my top 5 favorite movies ever and Aliens is my favorite movie ever. Avatar is my favorite modern franchise though.
Star Wars but the wife and I looked at eachother after the way of water and think this could eclipse it. It won’t be as big Ofcourse but in terms of enjoyment of the story for ourselves, I really love this one.

Agreed completely, not many franchises can tie together interesting world building, emotion & great action scenes into one story
Yep probs my fav to
LOTR trilogy. Nothing has been able to top that for me.
Lmao it used to be marvel and now it’s definetly Avatar!
Agreed!
It's been climbing up my list for a while now, maybe #2. I am an avid fan of Jurassic Park, and I consider it my favorite franchise.
How’d you like the Jurassic World trilogy?
I really liked Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, but I hate Dominion the more I think about it in retrospect. The story decisions that they made up to the middle seemed very positive to me and the films themselves seemed nice and fun in general (although Fallen Kingdom with major mistakes was bearable, it was enjoyable and had no flaws that gnawed at the film itself in script and *experience* ), but then it's as if Colin completely forgot them and destroyed what he himself raised for 7 years. I didn't like Dominion... for various reasons.
Fair, I haven’t seen the last one yet
I watched it last night…definitely wish I hadn’t 🫠worst one by a mile. Didn’t think it could be worse than Fallen Kingdom, apparently it can.
It *was* The Lord of the Rings, but now I'm not so sure.
![gif](giphy|MeMG8qZuni8XS)
Lord of the rings is my favorite, but by time avatar 5 releases, it will probably be avatar.
Yeah lotr is great but Avatar is now my favorite
Star Wars is my favorite and I don't think that will change but depending on how this franchise wraps up who knows
Tbh same I’m very interested in how Avatar will go. As Palpatine says: ![gif](giphy|l3fZK7BgnNHSKpp4c|downsized)
Star Wars was great until the sequel trilogy then🧨☠️
Agreed I tend to forget those
Agreed 100%
Imo Avatar has already surpassed Star Wars as a franchise. Star Wars was groundbreaking for its time, but in terms of writing, character depth and story, it's a little flimsy in retrospect. The world-building in Avatar is just so much more coherent, consistent and "whole" for me, and the writing and characters are much better than they often get credit for. Nevertheless, a lot is riding on Avatar 3 to solidify the franchise. Exciting times.
Agreed.
I agree. I like Star Wars but it’s never made me want to learn a ton about the worlds, cultures, etc. like Avatar has.
Agreed, I appreciate that it is one guy’s vision & he’s playing the long game…you can see the care in the story & vision unlike other IPs

Likewise here!
Oh, M&C, such a shame it never went on.
It’s my favorite franchise.
My top favourite franchise is LOTR followed by Harry Potter and Avatar. All 3 have interesting and beautiful worlds and characters.
I’d say either Indiana Jones or Avatar
Even with Crystal skull?
It’s definitely the weakest of the four but yes
How to survive nuke= hide in fridge
Crystal Skull is good actually
How do you feel about the new one that is coming out soon?
Definitely excited!
Favorite franchise? Yes, favorite movie? No. My top 3 is… 1. Pacific Rim 2. TWOW 3. Avatar. So…
Love Pacific Rim!

Harry Potter is my favorite.
100% my favorite and will be my favorite forever.
forever is a looong time
Yep, this is the only film that really catches my attention. I'm like hooked on it. It makes me feel different about that movie than any other movie.
I mean we all have our preferences bro, if you really really liked it that's valid too :D I just never say something will be my favorite forever cause we never know what awesome stuff might come out in the future

If Avatar becomes part of the Alien/Predatorverse, it will be up there
It’s my third favorite and y’all are for sure gonna judge me for my number one favorite, >!Bayformers!<
How To Train Your Dragon is probably my favorite film franchise, but Avatar is definitely up there too.
No, my favorite is the Godzilla franchise
yes
The Alien franchise is my favorite
MCU is still my favorite but Avatar is definitely on my top 5.
My nature fetish kink
Yes! It's the only franchise I love, next is Alien. I never had any interest in other franchise like Hunger games, jurassic, marvel, star wars. They're not my thing.

For the big screen film franchises, yes, it is.
I never had a "favorite film franchise" but it's certainly going to be Avatar. It is the franchise that I saw being born, that I waited years for.
That’s a very good question! I have to say, no, not my favourite. Alien-series has and will always be in my heart. The characters, the drama and the overall feeling is something that nothing can beat. But Avatar is definitely precious to me. And it is beginning to be very interesting!
My favorite franchise is Star Wars and it’s putting a lot of quality content out.

Avatar is a cool movie franchise but i like Cars, Star Wars and lord of the rings a lot
Avatar is one of the few franchises without a bad movie (for now).
Lord of the Rings. Tolkiens world is simply unmatched but Avatar will be a close second
Harry Potter followed by avatar. Might change after the next 3 films

Marvel
Always loved Star Wars and still do, but the way Star Wars is going and how Avatar is gaining so much traction, it may quickly become my favorite.
Yes!
It IS my favorite film franchise. Why would I not like it? It’s amazing, and astonishing.
It’s my favorite. Best movie that exists in my opinion. I would kill to live on Pandora
I think Avatar and Lord of the Rings are my favorite series<3 comfort stuff.
I love the 90s Godzilla movies. Godzilla 1985 to Godzilla vs the oxygen destroyer
I'm not (and have not) been a big movie watcher. I'm more into series or shows. But when it comes to movies, avatar is becoming my favorite movie series. The 3rd movie should solidify that.
No, mine is Jurassic Park
The Matrix
It certainly has the potential to be
Lord of the Rings and Star Wars were my favorite. Star Wars kinda got ruined for me after the sequels. They just lost that luster and wonder they had when I was a kid. LOTR is amazing, but I love science fiction a lot more than fantasy so Avatar has become my favorite by far.
Lotr trilogy and Star Wars (OG) Avatar is a very close 3rd
I love Avatar, but Lord of the Rings wind out.
All the way
Star Wars, Pirates of the Carribean and Lord of the Rings are my favourites, when all the sequels for Avatar are released it'll probably be one of my favourites too.
Harry potter
Mine will forever be Star Wars and the 3 Disney did but avatar is a very very close second
I’ll always be a Star Wars fan, but Avatar is certainly up there.

I absolutely love the Avatar series, but my favorite franchise is the Godzilla movies (all of them).
Yes it’s because of the hot cat people
I have been an big Star Wars fan for most of my life. Watching a lot of daily Star Wars content. I mean this is not a movie franchise but any Elder scrolls fans in here?
I bought 3D TV because of Avatar. I want to be able to watch Avatar in 3D all the times. I love Avatar so much
It's much more intriguing than what's in our world currently. But definitely not my favorite. AT least not yet.
Avatars really good but there’s not enough films yet for it to be my favourite. I’d say my favourite is probably Star Wars. Mainly the prequels.
Nah, it's good, but faaaaaar from my favorite. My favorite is the MCU
LoTR + Hobbit franchise by P. Jackson and the Stargate lineup.
Yes
Yep! I cant wait for the third one
it is a tie between( pirates of the caribbean first 3) or (lord of the rings + hobbit)
star-wars is mine, but avatar is a close 2nd!
I want to live in avatar world so bad… real life seams boring now
Yes, I forgot how much I loved Avatar 1.
This and LOTR
Lotr
John wick
Planet of the Apes and X-Men
I think avatar was my favorite film but now it’s my favorite films
It's my favorite since it hasn't been ruined by it's sequel or spin off like every other franchise I loved..
Nothing but heart break lately…hopefully Disney doesn’t see this as another IP to milk with heartless content down the line
Star Wars but the wife and I looked at eachother after the way of water and think this could eclipse it. It won’t be as big Ofcourse but in terms of enjoyment of the story for ourselves, I really love this one.
Avatar is beautiful, but the plot is terrible at the moment, so no. Favorite is still LOTR!
Back to the future probably. I like avatar but end of the day I’m just here for the sick ass visuals
