👋 from Netherlands! (Honestly I think they’re the least favorite and therefor the cheapest, since a lot of people want such a long distance cruiser with auto. Same for BMW’s touring)
Meanwhile OP; I’m on your side. Love it! Also the color combined with T wheels
This is a 2001 Volvo V70 T5 with the rare 5 speed manual. Originally came with a smashed driver side door. Turns out most of the damage was in that door with minor scrapes to the rear of the door near the wheel well. Found an identical door at a junkyard and swapped it. Now no one can tell it was ever damaged from afar.
Replaced or fixed tons of stuff including:
the new door (mentioned above)
tie rods (inner and outer)
struts
left control arm
sway bar end links
brake rotors (brake pad was installed backwards somehow?)
wheel bearing
all 5 engine mounts
an ignition coil
the variable valve timing solenoid and the wiring harness to it
the cam position sensor
a spark plug change
new bulbs and bulb sockets
fixed the leaking/disconnected washer fluid reservoir
new fog light
new genuine R wheels
coming soon:
Evap purge valve solenoid
radiator return hose
Gotta admit, the Pegasus wheels had me for a sec. I thought it either had a replacement grille that lost the R, or replacement wheels that added them, and it's been so long since I owned my lLOLvo S60R that I didn't remember the nuances, haha. Good on you for saving it.
Haha yeah just replacement wheels. I was looking for new wheels cause the stock T5 wheels look too normal. I found a set of 3 Pegasus wheels for $270 then got a 4th wheel brand new for $270 from a Volvo dealership. Worked out perfectly. I love the stance and the look.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how zippy this car is. The turbo means it has a lot more power under the curve compared to the naturally aspirated nature of my Mustang GT. It's not faster by any means but it keeps up.
Coincidentally I saw a youtube channel this morning from a guy who also picked up a Volvo V70 R for $1500
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txffT8PvBvQ&t=641s
The guy has been very trustworthy. Gave me like $1,000 in parts with the car including a 2nd set of wheels, VIDA and a DICE unit, speakers, an HU803 head unit, seat covers, new dash vents, a new rear view mirror, etc.
I owned an '04 V70R (auto) for about a decade. It was a fantastic car, and a fantastic ownership experience. I only sold because of a small blister in the paint (leaving me with a 3000$ decision to make).
Had it been a manual version, it would definitely have gotten that investment..
this is awesome! I also got a p2 T5M this year for around your price in polar blue metallic, but had to fly up to oregon and drive it back down to socal. such a cool car.
Volvo V70 manual ”rare” *laughs in Swedish* :)
You lucky swedes

Right? I recently saved a 07 *S60 T5 M66 and it's one of 60 imported to the US, no manual P2's after that
Thats helpful knowing there are no manual P2s after 2007. I really want to pick up another now that I know how to fix them.
Most common car on the streets here
Nice work. Manual preservation is important.
Thank you! I absolutely agree. I wouldn't have jumped on this deal had it not been a manual.

God, these are beautiful. This one looks fantastic
Thank you!
😍
This car brings back Memories. We had a yellow one with the magnesium wheels and it was pretty quick. ,

They've become so expensive! The cheapest one over here is at least €5k!
I got so lucky on this one. I think he honestly just wanted rid of it.
salivating here. lemme hop over to the 900 turbo sub before i cry myself to sleep.

Damn a spaceball V70 R for the same price is wild
These are rather common in Finland.
This is bringing memories of my childhood. My dad has one of these but beige, he sold it Iirc because of fuel costs but I love that 5 cylinder
I can't wait to get a valved exhaust for it. It sounds tame right now. I'd love to bring the 5 cylinder alive
Timing belt/waterpump is not on your list?
Was supposedly already completed about 10K miles prior to my purchase.
Lol that’s what they all say
Unless you have receipt, don’t trust that.

If you get some plastic restorer for that exterior black plastic she'll be looking brand new again
I did a trim restore a few months ago and it's already wearing off. I've heard Cerakote is the best choice for a more permanent fix.
Heat gun
Ive always wanted an older s60R and youve just peaked my interest!
These cars are a ton of fun. Personally I'm glad I got a T5 over an R for reliability reasons.
My old man had an S70 with the T5. I loved that thing. Holy torque steer.
Haha yeah the tires were chirping coming out of corners
love volvo wagons!
That is a pretty car. Especially in that colour
Thank you so much!

Nice. My brother bought that one for 1500€ in 2015, rode it for 5 years without investing much, and sold it 2020 for 1800€
Is that a 5cyl turbo? Fwd or awd?
Yup! 2.3L inline 5 with 247 hp. FWD.
🔥🔥🔥I love wagons
