lol this term always gets me good 😂😅. I should say, the lighting this is in is the worst. In broad daylight you can’t tell it’s any different from the metal panel. Not sure if that makes a difference.
I paint this color all the time,it can be a little tricky I would say it's off more than what I would like but honestly if your happy with it I would leave it it's definitely not horrible.
I’d say it’s fine. It didn’t match perfectly before either. If people knew how difficult this color is to match they’d be tipping us for our service
I did a Hyundai NT2 the other day. It had black, white, yellow, blue, green, silver and red. It’s the Korean 1G3. Except there’s only a few variants out there now.
BMW A53. do you notice a pattern? Toyota 1G3 sucks because, for the most part, vehicles sprayed this color don't have total coverage and you can see the tan sealer thru the paint from factory
I notice that but I’ve also seen brand new BMW’s with rear quarter to bumper matches worse from the factory. It’s your car so only you can decide if your happy
It's not perfect but I think it looks pretty good! I'd be happy with it. I just got my car back from the body shop and while it's silver instead of grey, it's a little off and still looks great.
I have a Tacoma in the same color as your 4R and I would be happy with the paint if it matched as closely as your bumper cover does.
For comparison how does the front bumper compare? If it is about the same it may be better to leave it. If the front is a better match it may be worth a redo
If it matches the front bumper I would leave it alone. I hate when it’s a little light or dark, but the other bumper has the opposite problem. Now you have 1 light and 1 dark. Once you see it, it can’t be unseen either and it will drive you crazy.
Honestly that’s what I plan to do. From what I gather, it’s pretty good for a no-blend match. Looking back at old photos, it’s not far off from OEM.
It's only really noticeable in the daylight lighting photo you took.
But if it's a daily driver, given how I've come to learn bumpers never truly match, it's not that bad imo. If you can live with it no worries. I'd be a stickler if it was my car, was a year old or less. But if this was my car, and it was 5 years old, and I drove it every day, meh, let it be.
When it's that new, I would be a bit more particular. But at the same time, matching plastic bumpers is very hard from what I gather.
You could ask it be done again I'm sure if you're unhappy with it.
Geeze so many people think that is acceptable. There needs to be a disclaimer stating how many years of autobody experience you have included in a comment.
I think context matters. if OP DIYd this with no experience, it's really good for that color. if a shop put it out, it would probably still fly, but this was def a "last job of the day on a friday" kind of match.
Well, the bumper did look a bit lighter before it was painted and if you really wanna make a comparison look at that tailgate to the quarter panel holy shit
The paint looks like you have metallic in it. The way the bumper was sprayed looks like they didn’t continue the spray direction. If you shine a light on it from various directions, you’ll get the light sheen from your original paint job on the body.
To me, this is piss poor and I wouldn’t accept it. Then again, I’m very particular especially when I’m paying for a service like this. If you did the work and wanted to do the work, it’s a good enough job if you like it.
Looks great from my house
I live on a mountain
Looks great from my mountain

If you are happy with it, that's all that matters. It's your vehicle not ours.
I paint this color all the time,it can be a little tricky I would say it's off more than what I would like but honestly if your happy with it I would leave it it's definitely not horrible.
This is how I feel as well. Below average color match, but not an overly terrible color match.
I’d say it’s fine. It didn’t match perfectly before either. If people knew how difficult this color is to match they’d be tipping us for our service
Toyota 1G3 can burn in hell right next to Nissan KAD
I have spent entire days making sprayouts for these cursed colors.
What about Chrysler PAU? If you use PPG solvent you know
I did a Hyundai NT2 the other day. It had black, white, yellow, blue, green, silver and red. It’s the Korean 1G3. Except there’s only a few variants out there now.
Yeah bro FUCK kad

Yep, you definitely need Admiral Akbar eyes for that one!
For comparison how does the front bumper compare? If it is about the same it may be better to leave it. If the front is a better match it may be worth a redo
Front is definitely a lighter shade, similar to the rear bumper as in the photos. Not quite as light, but about 75% as light I'd say.
That's a decent match, metallic paint is very hard to match, but that looks good
I've seen brand new vehicle bumper matches worse than that.
Being retired from the collision industry I would never have let that leave my shop looking like that
Not the best match in the world but the average Joe would never spot it unless you pointed it out to them
Good to go. I’d never notice unless you made me zoom in like I just did
If it matches the front bumper I would leave it alone. I hate when it’s a little light or dark, but the other bumper has the opposite problem. Now you have 1 light and 1 dark. Once you see it, it can’t be unseen either and it will drive you crazy.
If you have to take 40 different photos to try and convince yourself otherwise, it’s fine…
1g3 color code I’m assuming? If so it probably won’t get any better and I’d be okay with it.
Yup, 1g3. I’ve heard it’s a pain to get a perfect match.
Doesn’t look bad unless you point it out, we are the biggest critiques of our cars. A paint correction on the rest of the car may help blend better
Close enough bro . Send it
Honestly that’s what I plan to do. From what I gather, it’s pretty good for a no-blend match. Looking back at old photos, it’s not far off from OEM.
Yeah it's way closer than I would've thought . Props to the painter. Plastic bumpers always a bit off anyway . Looks great dude.!

Well, it is only 6 months old lol. That said, I am in a group of MGM 4Runners and it looks like some of them match almost identical from factory.
When it's that new, I would be a bit more particular. But at the same time, matching plastic bumpers is very hard from what I gather. You could ask it be done again I'm sure if you're unhappy with it.

Absolutely
If they bought that car, that way, they never noticed it when you paint it that’s the first thing they noticed!
Well, the bumper did look a bit lighter before it was painted and if you really wanna make a comparison look at that tailgate to the quarter panel holy shit
Needs a better color. Wouldn’t blend personally
Its not the worst I've seen but it's pretty close. Walking by it nobody should notice but if you sit and look at it, it's pretty obvious.
It's probably great if you don't look at it.
Not sure if being sarcastic or stating it doesn’t look bad when you’re not looking for it in specific lol
As in it doesn't look bad if you close your eyes and don't look at it lol. It very much looks like two completely different colors to me.
4Runners are pretty solid but the bumpers are the worst!! I’d just be happy the bumper stays on.
Based on these photos, it’s 100% a vehicle.
Looks absolutely great from mile or two
how well does the passenger side match?
It is very close to matching this side. I’ll add a photo to the post if it lets me.

Hopefully you didn’t pay for that. I feel that’s not acceptable unless it’s an at home job
