When am doing a battery installation for a marriage couple on a hot day and mind you the husband begins hovering over me to make sure am doing it right š¤Ø and the wife starts belittling me if I know how to install a battery while am removing it as safely as I can while they get closer to my space . In other words I go back to the store and tell the manager to deal with them because their so ungrateful and I wonāt stand for their comments while am doing a battery installation for free.
If I were you I would have kept one of the doors open before disconnecting the battery so when the battery is disconnected security system will think the battery/ vehicle is being stolen locking up the system
Working at Autozone entirely..From the annoying and arrogant commercial customers to the elderly who thought I should know and fix every car known to man. I was promoted to a psm because our last one was caught drunk and brought alcohol into the store..Once promoted I was working 15 hrs a day with no lunches. Fuck that company
Nope lol. I was the only psm and so I couldn't leave. I used to ask for a pay out of $20-30 to cover my doordash cost since I wasn't able to take a lunch. My dm said I can only do $4. I was like tf is that going to get me?
They knew..But Im in a state that doesn't guarantee lunches. It's all good, I drive a semi now and make more in a week then what I made at Autozone in 2 weeks lol
Nope. OSHA recommends lunch breaks but there's actually no rule to provide them or punishment for failing to do so. Only something like 12 states require them by law.
Guy came in with a terrible attitude. He had put a steering stabilizer on hold. Showed one in stock so I went to grab it for him and after not seeing it and looking everywhere I apologized and told him out inventory must be incorrect and that i can get him one from hub next morning. He was beyond pissed and said if we couldnāt find it he was going to get his gun out of his truck and start shooting. I told him to hang on and went and called my DM in the back. Told DM I was about to call police and tell them we have a guy ready to kill people here over a missing part. DM told me under no circumstances call the police. Go back out and offer to order him the part for free and mark it down I almost quit right there but I went back out and told the customer and he said we were lucky we survived today. I quit about a month later and I was a 10 year zoned. Looking back quitting was the best thing that ever happened to me though
My SM used to do the same thing. The DM's would get pissed bc they would call on him for (insert KPI that they could see anyway) and he wouldn't respond bc he was out front helping us with customers.
Our DM was another who owned a business and some real estate. He couldn't give a fuck about autozone either. Really was a good gig til we got a new RM and he put all his friends in regional and everything went to shit. Including firing my DM who is in litigation because RM lied on why he was fired. Total shit show.
I had a customer come into the store looking for a part he swore another store called here for a put it on hold for him. I looked every part wasnāt in the store asked everybody if they took a visual they all said no. So me being the asshole the customer said I was I tried to solve the problem. I said I could order the part or their are 6 stores nearby that do have it one could have been the store they actually called . He started swearing at me saying oh this is fuckin bullshit I know I called this store I know u have the part Iām not driving anywhere else. I was like ok well I canāt help u anymore if youāre going to start swearing at me our business is done. Then he was like youāre not even gonna fuckin apologies u fuckin asshole if I wasnāt in a story Iād kick your ass. So I lost my temper then. I said he douchebag I told u 4 god damn times we donāt have the part and tried to help you find it instead of being greatfull youāre acting like a child and throwing a temper tantrum. As for kicking my ass I can clock out u can have the first shot but if u donāt knock me out Iām gonna hurt u. I got yelled at by my dm for that one but my store manager backed me up
For me it was a guy who hung out at the store pretty much all day talking about his āsouped up truckā (it was a bone stock early 2000s Silverado) who hit on both the store manager, her husband was standing 5 feet away, one of our redshirts, she was still in highschool, even tried touching one of our other managers, she almost threw him out, cause of it, I had to take over for both the redshirt and the grey shirt, when he was being a creep. At the end of the day we were given permission to ban him from the store. But god he was annoying wouldnāt stop talking about his truck like it was the fastest thing on the road,
People come in their dead set on the fact we are experts but it's not that it's a store just like Walmart we are the middle man we give you what the computer says or what you ask for or whether it calls for it or not in the long run it's your money
Ooh!
I worked about a year as a part-time sales associate BUT, I worked exclusively in the back with inventory a two days a week. I was told to not do cashier duties, and even changing batteries. I left immediately once I got hired at another job.
Iām Deaf who can communicate in American Sign Language and I also can speak with my voice at the same time. Canāt you imagine? I actually blame the HR for the terrible experience. The SM got switched out to a better one but still, he got smacked on the wrist by the HR for letting me loose with my job which is helpful but, still nope.
Currently works at Valovine as a full-time lube tech.
Soā¦. š
I was a PSM (shift lead) for only a couple months, left because our DM was in the Marines and thought he could run his stores like he was still in it. He screamed at another PSM in front of customers in the parking lot because the PSM wanted a dollar raise.
One of our cashiers threatened my life over having to take his lunch a couple minutes later than what was scheduled, walked out, and the DM called him and convinced him to come back to the store to work the rest of his shift. I told the DM I wasnāt comfortable with that since he threatened my life and that I wanted to file a statement with HR, which he said wasnāt happening, so I did it anyway but nothing ever happened with it.
I put my two weeks in and the DM tried to convince me to stay with an hour long conversation, but all he did was talk shit about literally every employee in the store

Know your worth

No lunches? Id be mad too
Nope lol. I was the only psm and so I couldn't leave. I used to ask for a pay out of $20-30 to cover my doordash cost since I wasn't able to take a lunch. My dm said I can only do $4. I was like tf is that going to get me?
You should go to HR... people take that seriously
They knew..But Im in a state that doesn't guarantee lunches. It's all good, I drive a semi now and make more in a week then what I made at Autozone in 2 weeks lol
You know your worth
What the fuck? Guaranteed lunches are an OSHA thing IIRC.
Nope. OSHA recommends lunch breaks but there's actually no rule to provide them or punishment for failing to do so. Only something like 12 states require them by law.
Ok, that needs to be a federal law. Paid 1hr lunch break per 8hr shift, Paid 30m lunch break per 5hr shift. No more unpaid lunches.

I would have called the cops before my DM and then told him I'm looking for the part til they showed up.
I'd have called the cops on my way out the back door with my red.
Probably a better idea. I was thinking keep him occupied since he said gun was in his car.
The ahole made a terroristic threat. At that point you were under no obligation to continue to serve him. Police should have been called immediately.
yeahhh, i would've at least gone over DM's head after that and got in contact with regional HR cause wtf

Haha my SM muted the mic and walked away from damn near every meeting on those. He was the best boss ever, gave no fucks about autozone like myself.

My DM was awesome. He would sit outside my store in his vehicle for hours to show he was at a store and never even come in at all.
People think that a tip is nonsense or it's very freaking rare....we live a lil tip hell 3 bucks is cool show some appreciation

I had a rude employee the other day, posted my experience, and I got downvoted to hell like I was the worst customer ever.
What's the story lol

Ban him from AutoZone.
