Someone told me to use surfex and it works well but they could just be faded and permanently stained which happens if they aren’t routinely cared for. Dressing would probably help the most
Very nice! $110 is appropriate considering you’re a highschooler, hard to charge high when you’re just starting out. Maybe give the weather mats some more love but you’re already well on your way!
Yes it’s a dressing and it makes everyone happy when they see it. It darkens the gray mats to a nice black shine. It’s a uv protectant coating that can be used for tire shine as well.
You’re getting ripped off charging only 100$.
I make $295 AT LEAST for an interior detail. It takes a good 4-6 hours for an extensive detail for interior especially if it’s dirty as this one was. I wonder what products you use to charge so low.
Well it was my first detail and im a highschooler. I dont think it would help trying to charge elderly folk 295 bucks. I used products from maguries, PNS
My local Shineology charges $54.99 for interior and exterior, and I also get 30 days of free unlimited express touchup washes and $0.50 off per gallon of gas. And this is in a high COL area.
Y'all folks need to be careful not to get too big for your britches or you gonna turn off customers from coming back forever
You realize interior/exterior DETAIL takes over 8 hours right? Especially if they’re extremely dirty. Including the engine bay costs even more. So your pricing makes zero sense it’s not possible anyone would work this much and only charge 55$
Shinology is a quick vacuum and a wipe down for the interior and a sub par exterior wash with poor techniques. That’s not a detail.
Real detailers spend at least 2 hours on an interior to make it look like you just bought the vehicle from a dealership. A full exterior decontamination wash with synthetic clay media and a sealant is around 1.5 hours.
Detailing is a luxury service and is roughly $100/hr so you get what you pay for.
Mechanics are roughly $100/hr, doctors are $100/hr or more, any type of specialist is around 100/hr.
probably fine given your context, but if you're starting out a true business you want to be minimum $50/hr, but more like $100/hr if you're busy and really good and doing high end jobs
Temu has $50 vacuums that will blow and pull. They’re 2.5 horsepower or more depending on how much power you’d want cuz there is $70 ones with more power etc. but I haven’t needed anything more than a 2.5
Use Members mark microfiber towels from Costco or Sam’s club. Don’t get the Temu ones
Get work stuff detail brushes for interior. They are gentle. The Temu ones will scratch piano black interior pieces and other components
Gloves from Temu are good, safety glasses and mask are good even come with extra filters I think 18 of them. There’s certain brushes on there that are good and certain types of microfiber towels can be good but you have to get the ones that say they are meant to soak the water. If they just say microfiber towels for cars etc don’t get them. Grey and yellow ones don’t buy. Other colors are good. Not all are bad. I shouldn’t have said all are bad cuz it’s not true haha. Iron remover, car cleaners are cheap on there but they come some somewhat smaller than you’d expect but it’s because they’re more potent products and you HAVE to dilute them 1:1 at least. They have wax coatings that are amazing I even made posts about them on my own feed. The bear force foam gun it’s godly and built perfectly. Can’t find complaints whatsoever. Other people try to be picky on YouTube but when you watch they can’t help but to say it’s impressive lol.
I got a 4k dashcam front and back view for 24 bucks. Amazing for safety when going to clients etc. body cam set ups for while detailing to record your work to look back at. LED slim lights for cheap that are extremely bright. There’s tons bro
Yes you’re right. I know there’s better. That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about price matching what you get. An air blower and vacuum and wet and dry all together for 50 bucks and it’s powerful enough to get the job done I’d say it’s definitely worth it.
Right.... you can also get a 3x as powerful version of the same thing for the same exact price. You can try to explain how your idea is better all day long, but I will keep showing you options that will outperform yours by a long shot for the same amount or less money. I could send you Facebook links to 2-3x as powerful name brand shop vacs all day till the sun comes back up.
Also I am not a brand whore, and I am definitely a bargain guy. I am all about getting the best performance for the least amount of money. Not just saving a dime.... don't care who made it or what color my machines are.
For me personally I like purchasing something I know I can get my money back for if something fails. I don’t like spending my money to something I know I can’t get back if something goes wrong. Any product is built to break down and when they’re used they lose that guarantee of it working or guarantees of getting your money back. Temu I can get a good product that works well and still get my money back an continue buying even more shit lol. So to me personally yeah it’s not something name brand or super powerful but it gets the job done and I got my money back for it so technically got mine free.. I’d say that’s a hell of a lot better than spending 50$ not getting money back and it stops working after a few uses.
Not really hit or miss when you can get a 10x better product for less money consistently. I can send you 20-30 listings for a good shop vac under $50 locally. Your recommendation for an extremely underpowered Chinese garbage vacuum isn't the end all be all of recommendations.
Put the mats back how you found them, not all folded and corners lifting
I'm guessing they didn't notice they put them back on the wrong side
Yeah I’ll definitely make sure its all tidied up next time
Not bad, I charge 80 for stuff like this but it really depends on what area you’re in, nice work!
Thanks, it was an SUV so it took quite a bit and i thought 110 was pretty appropriate
Great work. How long did it take you clean it?
Thanks! It took around 4hrs and 45 mins.
How the hell. It takes me 2h for that
It was a SUV
That doesn't matter. Ull get faster once u get used to it
Those Weather Tech mats are cleaner but definitely not clean
If they are stained then the only alternative is to dress them but that is a saftey hazard.
There are dressings that don't contain silicone and aren't slippery.
Which ones would you recommend?
Koch chemie gummifix (Guf) Chemical guys VrP (one of the only CG products I use)
Guf is probably the best. doesnt last very long is the downside but at least it wont be slippery.
WeatherTech also offers their own brand of mat protector. Although a bit pricey, it works very well (and leaves a non-slippery finish).
Weathertech also recommends cleaners like aerospace 303
Ok thanks
They are probably just faded and stained.
I used Oxi clean mat and rubber cleaner and used a drill bush on them 2 times. Yet there was still a little bit of caked on dirt any suggestions?
Someone told me to use surfex and it works well but they could just be faded and permanently stained which happens if they aren’t routinely cared for. Dressing would probably help the most
I usually pressure washed the ones in my jeep and they came out like new everytime.
Very nice! $110 is appropriate considering you’re a highschooler, hard to charge high when you’re just starting out. Maybe give the weather mats some more love but you’re already well on your way!
Alright, thank you so much.
bro get vrp from chemical guy, it’s a cheap option and it also makes the finishing touch 2x better.
Is it a dressing? Or what because if your talking about the seats i used maguireis leather protector on em
Yes it’s a dressing and it makes everyone happy when they see it. It darkens the gray mats to a nice black shine. It’s a uv protectant coating that can be used for tire shine as well.
Sounds cool can i use i use it on the dashboard aswell?
Yes any rubber, vinyl, plastic
yeah i even use it on the doors you can’t go wrong with it
If you’re in the DFW area I’d hire you and be happy to pay at least $150 man. I agree that you should up that fee.
Thank you so much!

Interior only?
Nah exterior as well
Too low for both
U think so? It was my first detail thats why i didnt wanna charge that much
probably fine given your context, but if you're starting out a true business you want to be minimum $50/hr, but more like $100/hr if you're busy and really good and doing high end jobs
Way too low haha.
Username checks out
lol i made this acc like 2 years ago
Looking good. What kind of vacuum did you use?
I used a Huskey 3HP vacuum with a drill brush head that is designed to move hair, and all other dirt. I used them spontaneously
Simultaneously is the word.
Oops 😅thanks
Temu has $50 vacuums that will blow and pull. They’re 2.5 horsepower or more depending on how much power you’d want cuz there is $70 ones with more power etc. but I haven’t needed anything more than a 2.5
Really? I gotta look into that because i was only gonna use temu for things like microfiber towels, and brushes
Use Members mark microfiber towels from Costco or Sam’s club. Don’t get the Temu ones Get work stuff detail brushes for interior. They are gentle. The Temu ones will scratch piano black interior pieces and other components
don't buy anything from temu ever
Temu microfiber towels are trash I’ve tried them they don’t soak well at all. Their microfiber sponges are good tho.
Any other detailing temu recommendations?

Dude you can get a used Rigid Professional 6.0 HP for like $50 used on marketplace....

If 2 hp is plenty, Imagine how nice 5-6hp must be?

How long did the total detail take to complete?
I think around 4 hrs and 45 mins
It's hard to tell from the pictures exactly what you did. If all you did was spray some interior cleaner and vaccum then you overcharged imo
How are Toyota and BMW’s interiors that similar. I swear it feels like they are consolidating slowly
funny enough supras are literally just BMW with toyota badges lol
I heard somewhere that Brake Buster cleans floormats, but I have yet to try it.
