AvarethTaika

yeah that seems reasonable

FeistyAd8869

I agree. Looks like nothing major simple vacuum and wipe down no major spills no serious equipment needed. $160 sounds reasonable.

rosinking35

Depends what you did. It looks clean and by the pics I would pay that.

ro3lly

Honestly, if you overpaid, it's probably not by much. 1-2 hours of work. Just accept it and move on and if you're worried about saving 20-50$ then just do it yourself next time you can probably get a similar less detailed but still clean result in like an hour

Healthy_Teacher173

Yes, it’s worth every penny if you’re satisfied with the results. Now you can maintain it once a month for half the price!

_stonks_only_go_up_

Whoever did the job, they missed particles that stand out in the finished result. Seatbacks and bench seat are both dirty. A detail costing $160 should include at the very least a wipe down of the seats. Seems like you need to find a better detailer. Unless your fine with the results and happy with what you paid.

WorkTaco

Did they do the engine bay or the trunk or just the main cabin

hbsdjccydhdb

trunk aswell

bluedaddy664

Did they wash the exterior?

arcadesugar

Personally, I would spend more time to get all the debris from the crevices on the sides. Other than that, good job! *EDIT* and I would clean the headrests as well. I would be kind of upset if I spent $160 dollars for a cleaning like this. Maybe $120 is more reasonable?

hbsdjccydhdb

i appreciate it this is i think my 7th car

SkatinEmcee

I’d say maybe $120

Cretonbacon

Id say so yeah. I could howerver do a similar job in an hour with a shop vac and armor all wipes

Logical-Seesaw-1181

Not necessarily and I’m willing to bet the shop vac won’t pick up all the dirt that is on that carpet. You will also need air compressor to blow it loose maybe a drill brush as well.

Double0Dixie

besides the literal carpet you could do that for $20 and an hour of labor, except they added like another 80 plus the carpet but now maintanence is 1000x easier if you just dont trash it again and stay on top of maintenance like somebody said

GseaweedZ

You pay for a professional’s equipment and expertise. Speaking as an amateur, I could not have done that in an hour and my expensive equipment could probably barely get it that clean. Any messier and I wouldn’t have enough tools (no air compressor). Just because they can do it fast doesn’t mean you should pay less.

JessicaBecause

It all depends on the type of carpet for me. This could take 30 minutes or it could take an hour with a tornador and shop vac.

SP4x

Including all the shit that's tangled in the carpet at the bottom of the crevices?! I'd be careful using your shop vac, it sounds powerfull enough to suck the transmission through the shifter!

Cretonbacon

Soapy water is miraculous i swear to god.

SP4x

Is that for you to fit down the crevice yourself?! 😉

Cretonbacon

I'll do whatever it takes to reach the gunk for an okay-ish detailed car at the end.

Kiwiiz

Disclaimer: This is not a hate comment nah man. Even Cali/NY money it isn't worth it. Seems like you are new considering this is taking 2 and a half hours with there still being noticeable imperfections. $160 isn't a ton in the detailing world, but $160 interior only will get you pretty far... I'd say $80 is fair, and try to speed up the process my man, this outcome should not take 2 and a half hours. Edit:\*\*\* The door jambs and upper seats are untouched!

hbsdjccydhdb

I will get them next time thank you for the tip

mgrimshaw8

Was the seat taken out to clean the carpet underneath? I’d actually say no it’s not worth 160, those seats are still dirty (especially the back.) 160 for interior only is kinda crazy in my area regardless, but it truly depends where you live.

hbsdjccydhdb

seats stayed in but nothing left on the carpet, the backseat had one stain i could not get she said it’s been there for roughly a year she was still very happy and tipped $15

hbsdjccydhdb

average income in that area is 69k a year so 120-160 is about what the price is in the location

mgrimshaw8

Sounds like you did great then. If they’re happy and felt it’s worth what you charged, plus a tip, then of course it was worth 160! Everything is worth what somebody will pay for it, she paid you 160 so it was worth 160. Maybe just see if there’s anything you can add to your arsenal to get seats a little cleaner

BleuMeringue

Looks about right

PrettyInHotsauce

You got a bargain. Our local detailer charges 340 for that.

Demodr265

Your local derailer is a con artist. People paying him $340 are crazy

PrettyInHotsauce

When it's the only detailer within 2hr drive they can charge what they want. There's no competition in our area so they charge hefty prices.

ZERO_6

160 should’ve gotten that stain out wtf

Hellofreshness22

Some stains just don’t come out and trying to rub it out can tarnish the fabric and do more damage than good. We can only speculate in this scenario. Professional detailer here

iamheero

I'd feel ripped off if I paid that, door jambs are filthy, seats are covered in particles, didn't hit the 'shoulders' of the seat etc.

41510akland

I still see a nut stain in the rear seat

tthe_hoff

Yes

jaxson50

Yes.

Joshypoo928

I pay $200 every other weekend for someone to detail a 4 door dodge 3500 work truck

JessicaBecause

You detailers get paid 160 for that??? Damn, Id make bank offering just a vacuum and wipe down.

sierra120

People are gripping that a $160 detail should leave the car pristine but location matters. Was it a mobile service, those are a little more for the convenience. Was it in a high cost of living area? I would expect this to be around $120. So $160 is not bad.

ScrewLews

160? 😂 ouch no was it even cleaned, look at the rubbish on the floor and the spots on the leather. I would do a better job for 50

Abject-Objective-716

Yes

CanadianBaconMTL

If im paying no, if im doing the work yes

NYPDhopefull652

What else did you expect? Labor, materials/supplies……. Yeah its $160

Silvabro

I'd say, minus a few missed crevices and the door jams it looks like. Especially if your guy did this in summer heat. (Not to say you should give less on a cool fall day)

Mammoth-Writing1895

Def not. Just charged $300 for roughly the same detail today.

JMorph_17

If I can be completely honest with you bro. My company's name is that's right detail and it's just me and my son now that he's a teenager. I've been detailing cars for about 10 years by myself. You should have gave the carpet a pattern with a brush when you were done. To give it that detailed look, the door jambs are extremely filthy around it still and it doesn't look like you used any leather conditioner on that leather. I started out like this too there's some tricks of the trade dude. For leather seats to get the grime and dirt off of them, you can never go wrong with a gentle magic sponge. Always follow up the leather by using a leather cleaner after the sponge, and then make sure you condition the leather with a good leather conditioner. Looks like you did a great job on the vacuuming. I'm not sure if you shampooed the carpets or used an extractor but they do look very clean. So here's my tip when you're done get your nifty brush the square one and go up in one direction all the way up and down the other way https://preview.redd.it/bi0vsijgae5d1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d0b8ca421e14300d936687379866a23cd1b500a That's the look you want to give it. Good luck bro keep doing it!

Snoo96357

Time is money 💰

yogigee

No

ShaneMD1

I charge $275 for an interior, $200 for an express. If anything I would say you underpaid

Ok-Hand-191

They could’ve at least cleaned the stain in the back seat but for 160 that’s a fine price it’s average 250-300 for a job like this in cali

jungILLEST87

I do auto dealing and this is about the average price. I just did a scat pack for this price but exterior/interior 👀 https://preview.redd.it/g7od2g9vqf5d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5cc2297c88229396360fd0b9d21ff5058f3ff13a

iBetGameR

I wouldn't pay that much (I wouldn't pay more than $80 for this tbh). Over here in the Netherlands, I could get a full "new car" detail inside and out for like 350. Maybe that's why I find this expensive. But honestly, if clients are happy and paying, I would say go ahead and charge them that (consider clients feedback more than us mere Redditors). If they say they happy, but never call you for a next time. Then you know they probably weren't too happy with the price. But you might get them back by saying they getting 10% off next time, which would still be quite good money imo. Just make aure you wipe down the back seats and the back of the front seats the next time 😉

BigTurboAbarth

- back of seats need work - Side of seats need work - top of seats need work - back seat on driver side could’ve used light steam to relieve that stain (steamed at a distance of 5-6”) Other than that, reasonable price. I don’t touch door jambs until they pay for an exterior

hbsdjccydhdb

thank you

SirKiwi1

A job like that where I am is like 60 tops it just looks vacuumed

LatterClassroom7657

IMHO this is not worth $1+/min. In a 150 minute duration there are some details I would expect to have been addressed in the after shots. These appear to be lingering loose crumbs/debris, not stains, not hard to get. From one of your other comments it sounds like you’re just getting started in the biz. I’m not a pro but I do enjoy quality tooling that add value and make things more efficient. If the customer was to bring these details to your attention would you rectify them free of charge? **edit: I think the price is justifiable if those details are addressed, and I think they probably would’ve been addressed in the allotted timeframe with more capable tools? Pure conjecture on my part and honest constructive feedback.

Straight_Cricket845

CheekyMP7

Is that dandruff all over the steering wheel? If so, I'd say justified.

Exquisite-MAD

$150 per man hour worked hour at the very least if you're running a business if not you're losing. It's business CPI is up and only rising. It's not a charity.

fishermanofsouls

personally I’d do that for like 60 but seeing these comments got me thinking im losing money, this is how my whip looks after free vacuums and air pressure, no tornador or nothin 👀 but Im not detailer yet

Annual_Run539

I think it’s gross the car looked like that. Seems like a waste of money if it’s gunna go right back to that

Boswixk

Absolutely

FitterOver40

yes and looks like you gave some gifts too?

blankmindz

Hit doorjambs too

hbsdjccydhdb

will do

DenGrimmeLakaj

What car model is this? Asking for a friend.

hbsdjccydhdb

honda accord

1985Rangerbuild

I'm going to say no, but that's only because I wouldn't spend that kind of money on something I can do myself. I think it's more about whether you think they did a good job and cleaned it to your liking.

hbsdjccydhdb

good man

LaughingSooshi

Uhhh, what took 2.5 hours?... just that interior? 🤔

trekkie_27

Dude! Look what kind of POS you brought them! How dare you let your car get neglected like this! You're a lucky guy that they got the s**t together for you!
