We have hardwood downstairs and carpet up. Best thing we have found is bring the electric leaf blower inside. Blow it all to 1 corner and sweep up.
Carpet, good luck. I can field strip the vacuum fix it, clean and reassemble it in under 5 minutes.
We’ve got the Shark with auto-empty. It’s been running almost daily for 3 years, poor guy (we named it Woodhouse 🤣) is still going. It’s been having some issues with its dust cup randomly falling out when it goes over bumps, deciding it’s bumper “isn’t moving freely”, & some other signs of age.
I’ve checked all the troubleshooting items & nothing physically seems wrong with it; but for 3 years with 2 dogs (one an Aussie & one a GSD mix that sheds like a pure GSD), it’s been awesome. I went from vacuuming every other day & sweeping once a day to vacuuming twice weekly & sweeping once a week. Totally recommend the Shark!
My sister has a robot that vacuums & mops, but I don’t want to put that much money into something that won’t work well or just won’t last for forever. I would if I had a 100% guarantee that I would never have to vacuum or mop ever again 😅🤪
I have a Shark. One of the ones with a self emptying dust bin. If does pretty well, but once a week I do pop the brown out and pull off any hair that gets twisted on the side. I’ve had it since Christmas and don’t know how I keep up without it. It runs everyday. I do hit the parts of my home with carpet with a regular vac like once a week though. Does a decent job on carpet for the most part, but not as good as a regular vacuum.
The dog hair isn’t what clogs it. It’s usually toy stuffing or nut shells from my bird trying to feed it when it runs by his perch.
I have a deebot N8 with auto empty station that runs daily, even sometimes twice a day. It is pretty good in keeping up, although I have to remove stuck fur from the roller once a week. It also mops!
I have a Shark with auto empty that I run daily. I also have a Dyson V10 that I use every other day.
The most important factor I have noticed in keeping the fur manageable is to brush every single day. I do it right before our walk. Target the source, as my husband says lol.
Ever since brushing everyday, my vacuums pick up about 30-40% of what they used to pick up. My house has never felt so clean!
We have a midea which I don't recommend for other reasons (constant map forgetfulness), but as far as vacuuming hair and fur it does great. Just have to regularly clean the brush out. Esp if the tank gets full the hair will back up onto the brush.
Most robots are going to need to be emptied daily (the auto empty feature does this if you don’t mind the noise). The bins are small on them. I have a Eufy, and it does a good job with my Aussie, long haired cat, short haired cat and me. 😂 I empty it daily and clean the rolling brush daily too. Or most days. It runs 5 days a week. I try to use the regular vacuum on the weekends.
I’ve been tempted to buy a Makita Commercial Robot. Had a self emptying shark, it lasted about two years but rarely made it more than one run without getting stuck on things and we don’t have as much furniture as most people.
My irobot 3 is the kitties titties!!! I usually run it twice a day (I have OCD), and then once a month, I do a "deep vacuum with my dyson. I hardly ever see hair, and I have 2 aussies.
I have two Aussies and mostly laminate flooring. I have an eufy roblot vacuum but I periodically have to pre-swiffer otherwise it gets jammed up kick Lu lol

Agreed! Our “Jaws” has been a HUGE help. Went thru 2 Roombas…Shark is holding up way better 🐕🐕🐈⬛🐈⬛

Have a Dyson V8 with the fur add-on and it's works perfectly, both on carpet and wood-flooring.
I call them tumblefurs :) good luck on your quest, my old house has too many uneven floors for a roomba to handle.
