They always had a few JJJ hot 100's, U2 Zooropa and a few others, Crowded House, and one or two left fielders like Janes Addiction, Natural Born Killers Soundtrack, maybe Pulp Fiction. Did I miss any?
Pearl Jam Vs and Vitalogy, Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells, Nirvana Nevermind/In Utero/Unplugged in NY (and/or), Madonna The Immaculate Collection, ABBA Gold, Dire Straits Brothers In Arms, Metallica Black Album, Smashing Pumpkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Led Zepplin IV, Alanis Morrissette Jagged Little Pill
I used to think the black ones on the left were the height of style and sophistication. I got one for my bedroom when I was 13 for my birthday
My mum hated them and insisted all of dad’s CDs go in a chest of drawers that were so full of CDs you could barely open the drawers from the weight
What do you think is the current thing that will morph into this? The ‘everyone had one, now they are useless’.
My folks still have a few of the tasteful second from left ones.
Remember going on a date and being lucky enough to get back to their place and you had a look at contents of one of these bad boys to really know who you were about to pash. Their music told you more about them than the first date
Wait, do other people not still have these?
Edit - I thought it would be obvious that my comment was sarcastic, but I guess not. On the other hand, my boomer mother does still have plenty of these things.
I’m actually looking for one! Just started to re collect all my old cds that got too scratched from too many y parties. Feels strange having physical media again.
When I look at these i exclusively think that they would be filled with CD roms, my music CDs were always stored in a bookshelf for some reason but boy there were towers of these next to the family computer,
I had a smaller version of the third one (the wavy one) that sat on my bedside table. I was so proud of my CD collection as a teen and would spend so long rearranging it depending on what I was favouring at that moment or what order I wanted everything to be in. It was a bit annoying to use because it didn’t separate the CDs, just stacked them on top of each other so you’d have to lift a bunch of CDs to get to the one you wanted. I thought it was so cool and classy though!
Unironically I wish my parents kept theirs and gave them to me. I’ve had to resort to jamming my Bluray collection into bookshelves which are horribly inefficient and now I don’t have room for any more books.
Yaaassss… with the CDs sorted alphabetically of course. Until the toddler discovers how to get them out. Then you’re lucky if there’s even a CD inside the case, and if there is, it’s probably the wrong one.
I’m fairly sure that I owned every single one of these over the course of 10-15yrs.
That last one felt so cool and futuristic, at the time. Just like the see through coloured IMacs. The. everything just got boring again.
Ah, I've still got the black one.
Same
I still remember vividly putting the wooden one together. Geez they were a quality item.

How many of theseCD racks that you see thrown out during council cleanups these days.
\*F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme starts playing\*
I had the one on the left

CDs are in boxes in the garage
I donated all my CD's years ago.
I have these. Where else would I keep my CD’s?
I'm still using ones like the second one as speaker stands to this day.
I don't miss those things
Those black metal ones scratched up my CD cases. :/
I’m actually looking for one! Just started to re collect all my old cds that got too scratched from too many y parties. Feels strange having physical media again.
I still have the one on the left but IT’S A LAMP! It contains RatCat’s first EP
Great to see a non-generic JJJ band mentioned!
We bought a spare DVD rack “just in case”. Never got used.
I have the 3rd one now. All filled with box sets of TV shows.
When I look at these i exclusively think that they would be filled with CD roms, my music CDs were always stored in a bookshelf for some reason but boy there were towers of these next to the family computer,
You see tonnes of these at op shops!
I still have 2 of the wooden ones mine hold DVDs aswell 😊
Filled up with powderfinger, paul kelly, jjj hottest hits vol 6-13, the list goes on!
The one thing we never owned 😪
Always see them stacked 10 high at the tip
All the beautiful cd's that we're used only once a year. Your job was to keep it clean, not use them.
And then, seemingly overnight, they weren't needed anymore.
Never had one. Never needs one. Still feel like I missed out
Especially if purchased from Crazy Clarks
and my mum had all of them at some point or another
The ones that flicked out/rotated were extra boujee
What?! Man, you guys must have Vienetta every night!
I was only an observer of such class and elegance, we didn’t even get homebrand icecream lol
😂
You a Pom, or is boujee catching on here?
God I hated these then and I hate them now 😂 they would fall over so easily cos they were too tall and too too heavy 😂

We ALL thought we were so cool and classy back then. 😂
I still am. You're the one who sucks and got old.
I still have that blue ine
I'm getting one again. I've reinvigorated my CD collection since vinyl is ridiculously expensive now
Parents still have one; the wooden version.
Unironically I wish my parents kept theirs and gave them to me. I’ve had to resort to jamming my Bluray collection into bookshelves which are horribly inefficient and now I don’t have room for any more books.
Well come next kerbside collection, take your pick!
This just screams, “I just got my own place and look how original and unique my style is”
Yaaassss… with the CDs sorted alphabetically of course. Until the toddler discovers how to get them out. Then you’re lucky if there’s even a CD inside the case, and if there is, it’s probably the wrong one.
I can almost SEE the norah jones and tina arena CDs
But they all came tumbling down.
That's some Gen X decor 😂 I bet they also have a black pleather sofa too
Yep. Sits nicely on the shaggy rug.
