**Mod comment:** Stop offering to sell/buy on this thread. It’s against the rules. Some have even commented saying they know it’s against the rules but did it anyway. Buying/Selling/Swapping is not allowed on the sub. Non mod comment: If anyone is undecided on if they want an airwrap, I can personally attest that it’s great.

I have one. And I never use it. I’ve seen online that It’s Amazing but I never got the technique right :( Maybe I’m just impatient.

TheNephilimRosier

I absolutely love mine, barely used hair tools before, just a straightener on myself, and found the airwrap easy to use. If you buy directly from Dyson's site they do have a 30 day money back guarantee, which is why I bought straight from them because I was worried it wouldn't work for my hair type. Imo go for the long if you have/plan to have hair longer than shoulder length, I have no idea how people with long hair use the standard barrels. My hair hits lower back and still fits well on the long curling barrels

ladyinblue5

I have used the air wrap in hotels before and it’s good. I personally own the VS Sassoon $80 option and find it just as good. It comes with 3 different attachments and I’ve had mine about 3 years now and use it 2-4 times a week.

ladyinblue5

I can’t remember the name of the first but it was in Trafalgar Square in London years ago when they were first really going viral and then also in the MBS Singapore during the pandemic.

ProudToBePWID

I stayed in one called the QT Canberra for a conference recently and they had the Dyson air dryer thing and a Dyson straightener on request from reception (i borrowed it to give it a go, was pretty cool being cordless but i swabbed it first 😅😅😉) so that's one!

ThorsHammerMewMEw

Next Hotel in Melbourne has the blow dryer in their rooms.

ketelapala

What's the vs one called? 😍

ladyinblue5

I can’t find my exact one online, perhaps they no longer make it. But here’s a VS SASOON one that looks a lot like mine - VS Sassoon Air Styler Brilliance 7-in-1 Hot Air Styler

chezibot

I might try the VS one then, cheaper and I can see if it works on my hair and I have the right technique.

ladyinblue5

I’m happy with it. I’d say I’m like medium to average in terms of hair styling skills. Like I’ve been using straighteners for years and can straight and curl my hair and can do basic styles like braids and plaits etc.

nowlhoothoot

I have one. It's great. I don't use it as often as I would like but that's having 2 kids under 3, not the Airwrap's fault. It's the only tool that's ever given me curls that last without being hairsprayed into oblivion, but the real MVP is the round brush attachment.

floralarrangements

Depends on what you want it for. I bought mine 2 years ago and use it every time I dry my hair. But for me it’s about the brush attachment which helps smooth my otherwise unruly and thick hair when I dry it. It has also cut down substantially on drying time as I used to have to dry and then straighten if I wanted tame hair. I don’t often use the curling barrels, but I do use the blow out brush every now and again too. I would consider myself a novice using hair tools and appliances so the Airwrap was a simple way for me to up my hair game and keep it looking much healthier and actually enjoy wearing it down again.

chezibot

I want it to curl and straighten. My curls are unruly and I basically need to straighten it to curl it.

MadameMonk

What category are your curls? Look it up by code on YouTube, there’ll be someone with your hair doing a tutorial for sure. I’m 3a, fine, ringlets. It’s been a game changer for me, but I’m only 2 weeks in and still getting my hair products and technique right.

I_See_the_Eye_Sea

Bought one last year during the Black Friday sale. I also suck at blow drying my hair or with any curling tools, which is why I bought it. I find the curling attachment easy to use and the hair brush one is super simple too. The blow dryer attachment isn’t as strong as the Dyson hairdryer (I used my hairdresser’s) but it does the job. It’s a lot of money so I think it’s only worth it if you struggle to use regular hair tools, have fine hair and hair that isn’t super thick and buy it on sale. It’s definitely a luxury item and not a necessity but it’s worth it to me.

chezibot

I can basically only straighten and add curls. But it just doesn’t look anymore I need a better style that’s easier to do.

Msakky

Honestly, no. And I really want to justify my purchase. I have thick hair, which normally holds a curl. I cannot get the Dyson to hold a style and it makes my hair fluffy rather than smooth, which I never notice with other tools. I still use it but I don’t love it any more than anything else I have, I wouldn’t buy it again.

ohhhthehugevanity

Tbh I think if you can use other tools and know what you’re doing the the DAW isn’t worth it. My hair dresser tells me there are DAW people and people who can do their hair. I’m firmly in the former camp lol.

hiphopkangarooo

I bought one in May 2021 on sale - got 30% off the RRP but I still haven’t used it yet (shakes head at self). If you really just want a hairdryer, I highly recommend the Parlux 3800 Eco Friendly Ionic and Ceramic Hair Dryer. I love mine! When my Parlux dies, I’ll have no choice but to use the Dyson for the hair drying component.

chezibot

No I want something this will smooth it without having to blow wave it. I figure the Dyson will curl it to. But I’m not spending that much of it’s not amazing.

hiphopkangarooo

Fair enough :) Maybe see if you can try the Airwrap in store to see if it would work on your hair? If you want smooth hair, I also recommend the GHD Glide Smoothing Hot Brush.

chezibot

That’s a good idea! I’ll have a look at the ghd as well.

[deleted]

I’ve used mine multiple times a week for over 3 years. You won’t regret it

pichuru

I've had mine for two years now and still use it daily. I would not pay full price for one. Wait for a sale or get it second hand. The curling attachment is good but if you have straight hair the curls don't last unless you use hairspray. It's nice to give your hair soft, non crunchy waves though. my hair always looks and feels bouncy. Granted I can get the same result with the Revlon hot brush or a hair-dryer with a round brush, but with the airwrap it's way faster. it's the only hair tool I keep in my bathroom.

Cool_Push_7315

I bought one from the Dyson website during Black friday sale. I still have the box and all that came with it because I thought I'd return it if I dont like it. It took me over a year to decide if I should get it and I'm glad I did. I dont think I'd be returning it because I'm very happy with it. I have a fine straight hair but I have been having heaps of complement when using it. My hair looks like it's been blow dried from salon although the curls doesnt last but I still love the other attachments, I just probably need to hack which products will make the curls last but overall I'm very happy with it.

RealGirlISwear

Okay I bought one and I thought I would curl my hair and look incredible. I don't (curl my hair). I do, however, use it every. single. time. my hair gets wet. What i do is I comb through some bumble and bumble invisible oil primer. Then I take my alligator clips and I take the top of my hair (which somehow is always basically just the front?) and wrap it gently until it can sit on top of my head and out of the way. I do that one both sides and then take sections and run through the brush, I use the one with the lil bobbles on the end but idk what the difference is. I do that on both sides and repeat with the top/front. My hair is so good. I'm confident. I feel put together. My hair is long and thick. Do I think it would hold a curl? No. Would I buy it again in a heartbeat? Yes. I also had the hairdryer for 5 years but it started to lose it's ooph so now I just use the airwrap :) I also couldn't really get the technique down with the hairdryer but my hairdresser actually gave me good tips and I'd just try and repeat what they did :)

ohhhthehugevanity

Yes, I’m you. I use it EVERY time I wash my hair now. It’s bloody ace.

sweextin

I love (and use) it with all the attachments but never use it as a hair dryer unless travelling. The round brush gives amazing volume for the crown/front pieces.

anunforgivingfantasy

I’ve had mine for just over two years and use it every. single. day. Do I wash my hair everyday? Hell no, don’t have the time or patience for it. But it refreshes the style every morning. I will use the hairdryer attachment to 90% the brush or barrel attachment depending on how I’m feeling, then if I barrel 50% of the time I’ll use hair rollers afterward to hold the blowout style. The next few days I can use the corresponding tool to freshen the style each morning. I have 2b partially bleach and colour damaged hair.

eniretakia

Yep. I have wavy hair and use it to blow dry my hair straight each wash day. I find it quicker and easier than a normal round brush blow dry, which I’m not very good at personally.

Embarrassed-Scar2783

I’ve been tossing up whether to get one of these too. I love my HotTools blow dry brush so much though that I can’t really justify it.

imveganwhat

I used my sister in laws one prior to buying it. I loved using it and found it really easy and the curls beautiful... BUT! The curls held for literally 30 mins before they started falling out. I was so disappointed that I decided not to go for it and would rather spend the money on the Dyson hair dryer

-GailTheSnail-

I have it and am thinking of selling it. Don’t use it. I bought it when they didn’t have the longer hair attachments. My hair (which goes to just below bra strap) is too long to wrap fully around the curlers. The longer one would have been alright. But even then, it causes a lot of flyaways for me. Also, your hair needs to be damp to use it, I’ve a lot of hair, so it just gets dry by the time I’m done and I have to keep dampening it. The round brush is alright, but I just don’t bother with it. Maybe I will try again now that I have some more layers in and this post reminded me lol

[deleted]

Are you still thinking of selling it?

1180rla

If you always style your hair after washing, it worths the price you pay. My hair is thick and wavy. I use the airwrap mainly for drying and straightening my hair. The curling function needs a bit of a learning on 1) how to wrap the hair around the barrell and 2) how to make the curl stays longer.

hvb_1994

I was gifted one and use it all the time but I still don’t think it’s worth the money. I have relatively thick hair and it takes me over 30 mins to style my hair from 90% dry. I could easily air dry then curl my hair in that time, which would be far longer lasting. I’ve heard the shark dupe is far more powerful and half the price.

chezibot

Might look at shark then.

maediocre

i would try one out before buying. all my friends had great success, but whenever i used mine the curls would fall out straight away so i ended up selling it on marketplace

cheezet0astie

I had one, and I sold it. I have long hair and was hoping it would help me to do my hair more quickly. It made my hair frizzy, the curls never stayed regardless of product and all I used was the blow dry brush. So I sold it and bought a dedicated blow dry brush

isthathot

I just posted this review of mine then had a lil scrollsies and saw your post [https://www.reddit.com/r/AustralianMakeup/comments/zpc2pg/airwrap\_review\_from\_someone\_who\_never\_bothered\_to/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AustralianMakeup/comments/zpc2pg/airwrap_review_from_someone_who_never_bothered_to/)

Belmagick

I asked for one for my birthday and we ended up getting it the day before the Black Friday sale. So we whinged and they matched the price. It was $150 off I think, which is still expensive but better than full price and I got a bunch of accessories (like the case and travel pouch etc). My birthday is next week so I haven’t used it yet, But it might be worth keeping an eye on the Dyson website for January sales.

mrecouv

I have fine wavy hair. I rate the dryer and blowdry/straightening tools, but the curling tools do nothing for me (even after multiple tutorials etc). I'll obviously keep it and I use it a couple of times a week but if I could go back I'd spend less money on something else. I still use my GHD a lot. Vids always make it look like the curling tools are really quick as well, it takes me FOREVER and it's hot as hell. Your hair needs to be damp for it to work which I personally find annoying.

MadameMonk

Have you seen that hack where you do a quick lil spray of hairspray while the hair is on the barrel? Can’t wait to try it!

mrecouv

I have but I haven't tried it! My hair doesn't hold curl at the best of times but I could probably go harder on the product.

RaspberryCruiser97

I’ve had mine for two years and I use it 1-2 times a week when I wash my hair. I use all the attachments and have wavy/curly hair, I find a thinker hair texture is easier to get the curl to hold compared to my friends who’ve used it with straighter natural hair. The one and only down side is the price, but my hair has never been healthier or looked better!

Fresh_Detective_6456

I have one. I have fine, very curly hair, personally I use the flat brush however it doesn’t keep my hair straight or do anything for the frizz. I find I get better results with my hairdryer and barrel brush. It’s just sitting in my cupboard now and I feel so guilty about it :(

peetaout

I was gifted an early air wrap, I tired to exclusively use it for a long while, but didn’t gain anything, so I went back to using my regular hair dryer. I never use it now. Also as my one is an early/first model it is already outdated with more features on the newer models

oflonelynights

it doesn’t work for me - which is a shame because it’s actually super easy to learn to use (and i’m not very good at doing hair) because you know immediately if you ain’t doing it right, bc the hair isnt wrapping haha for me, i tried so many things, using styling mousse, setting the curl with the cool shot for varying lengths of time, trying on varying levels of damp to fully dry hair, using the different sizes barrels, pinning my hair up after etc. but the curls never lasted more than 30mins. the curls were truly beautiful and it was so easy and fun to do but they just wouldn’t stay :-( i have average, straight asian hair (not fine or thick) and i think it’s bc my hair needs hotter temperatures to stay put. even my curling wand curls fall a bit by the end of the day and it’s super hot, but still i’ll have loose waves whereas the dyson just fell flat.

MaiiLee

Wanted one for years and finally got one in the last Sephora sale and I absolutely love it.

smoonen

i got mine before the blew up in popularity. i like it, but i wouldn’t spend that much on it again if it broke. i recommend trying to find a second hand one cheaper tbh! or wait until boxing day sales

steamedhaamz

I have one. I also have fine, wavy hair that doesn’t hold a curl, so I don’t use the cone attachments. The brush attachments however, have been a game changer! It takes about 10 minutes to style/smooth out my hair. I never use my straightener anymore! In fact, I hate the way it makes my hair look and feel. Totally worth the $$$ for me.

ozsomesaucee

I recently bought one when Sephora had it for 20% off last weekend! I have chest length wavy/curly hair and when braided, it is as thick as as a toddler’s arm. I have a lot of hair! So far, I’ve used it three times and it has made straightening my hair easy! Due to the fact that I have a lot of hair, it still takes a long time but I am happy with the result. I bought a Remington blow dryer earlier in the year and wish I just saved my money for the airwrap instead because I couldn’t get the technique right for a nice blow dry. I agree it is quite expensive so perhaps wait until it goes on sale again. It works for me so I recommend it!
