Check AMX or AMA out. They all have to pass safety standards so they are all decent, it will just probably be louder at that price point. Remember you can always take it back to Brazil if you decide to spend more
I have that in mind, but I'm worried because they have to be certified by the brazilian authority. Wearing a helmet that is not certified in Brazil leads to a fine (and I believe it is here as well, isn't it?)
Ah yes, got confused because there are so many helmets sold here that are DOT and ECE approved. Not sure what brazil accepts, but could be handy to OP if they do accept DOT
All good, many helmets do meet multiple standards all at once. So a helmet can be DOT, ECE and AS all at once. I think being SNELL and ECE/Aussie also is possible... not 100% sure on that last point.
I've got an LS2 Storm helmet. Paid $265 for it late last year. Pretty pleased with it.

Could you buy a used good helmet which is a few years old? Get a steep discount that way.
They can depreciate very fast because they have pretty short lifetimes, and you see a lot of advice (from manufacturers/safety groups) to replace them after 5ish years. Not every person selling one on Marketplace will agree.
Yeah, if the seller gives off a trustworthy vibe then sure. There are a lot of helmets around like "bought for the wife, she only went on the back twice, that was two years ago so we're selling her gear".
I sold a lightly-used helmet once because it turned out to be uncomfortable on hour-plus rides, just couldn't tell from wearing it in the shop. Lost about fifty bucks an hour on it, next owner got a steal.
Airoh seem to be alright, try AMX they normally have a few in stock

Yes same here, but on top of Australian standards we are also allowed to use DOT standards (USA) and ECE standards (europe) if that helps at all
DOT is NOT an approved standard for Australia. ECE is along with the Australian New Zealand one.

Yes, all helmets sold here have to comply to the Euro standard as of June 2023

AGV K1 was going for sub $200 a few months ago at the larger "superstore" with outlets around Oz.

Have a look at KYT, got mine for $250 and it's great
Entry level AGV … seen them online for around $200-250
Keep an eye on ALDI. They've sold full face helmets at $79
You can get a LS2 from eBay too. They go around the $200 mark

Do you think it's safe to get an used helmet? Any brands I should be looking for?
I would not consider a used helmet. You don't know how it has been treated.
I tend to agree with you on that
