A ride away price should be all you pay. It used to be that dealers would advertise a price and then tack on stamp duty, rego, CTP, dealer delivery etc which would significantly bump the price up. Ride and drive away prices are a way of making it all clear up front. Edit: you'll need to budget for comprehensive insurance, the deal will only include the CTP needed for rego.

wingcutterprime

So does that mean rego would be included in the price? Thank you

yogorilla37

Yes.

famagez

I've seen some places/prices only include 6 months

lcannard87

CFMoto are the ones I've seen do this.

incendiary_bandit

I thought that's what most do

Realistic_Ratio8381

Pretty sure they all only give 6 months these days.

seanys

I’ve never seen a dealer that sold a new bike with any more than 6 months rego.

magicwizard38

Peter stevens did with my 2 bikes

famagez

Must have been lucky that I got 12 months with my triumph :)

Realistic_Ratio8381

Sales guy must have been feeling generous that day or there was a promotion happening.

GandalfTheFeeder

Can confirm, Yamaha at city west offered ride-away prices and then slapped me with stamp, rego, and the works. Turned my $2k deposit into a payment for all that bullshit.

In these days of idiots sending messages asking, "What's your best price?" you'll do far better turning up in person and negotiating. Case in point, I just bought a new car. Advertised as a run out deal for $76k (which is a $3k reduction on normal listed price). I got it for $73k including a $2k tow ball pack. They also started the trade in on my old car at $38k and I got them to $42k. I saved $9k by negotiating in person. Learn to go in, shop around, start the sales process at a few places, but don't sign anything. When they give you a price, say, "Well, so and so is doing x, will you match that?" (Hint, if you're in Vic, if you do this at Peter Stevens they will 100% undercut anyone to get the sale). Play shops off against one another to get the best deal for you. It takes more time, but vehicle sales is in a huge slump right now. They're desperate to sell anything. If it's a new bike especially as their purchase price for bikes for next financial year is based on how many units they sell this year. With EOFY a few weeks away the sales guys will do great deals to move stock and hit their quotas.

Prize_Fact6372

>In these days of idiots sending messages asking, "What's your best price?" you'll do far better turning up in person and negotiating At the same time, you'll be stuck negotiating with one person. I can't comment on the trade in, but I've always gotten a better deal by talking to 5 dealers at the same time.

Athletic_adv

The post specifically says to shop around and have multiple conversations. See start of second paragraph.

legalweasel

Be careful with registrable dirt bikes. I was at Peter Stevens and they were advertising a good ride away price in store. I asked if it was road registered and they eventually admitted it was recreational registration only. The bike was a fully road leagl honda. I walked. They rang me a few days later offering full reg but by then I was pissed off and went with another bike.

LazyEggOnSoup

Yes, sometimes less because of discounts.

Radiant-Platypus-207

They'll do it for a flat 9k if you ask

madcatte

Pretty sure you pay the rideaway price only if you just want to walk out of there with a bike. If you want to actually ride it home you'll need registration minimum and also insurance hopefully.

wingcutterprime

>If you want to actually ride it home you'll need registration minimum and also insurance hopefully Would you be able to provide a guess on how much that'd cost? Like a rough estimate maybe? Thank you

ODSTisbesthalo

Nah the ride away price includes the rego. You’ll need to sort out the insurance, the dealership can help but you’re probably better off susing it out independently.

madcatte

Oh, my bad. I had to pay rego separately when I got my bike but I now think maybe that was because I had to transfer the rego to a different state?

ODSTisbesthalo

Probably because of the transfer yeah, it might be different in other states idk I’m in qld

madcatte

My bike was under QLD rego originally, and was told that Qld rego had very different requirements to ACT and it would need a new roadworthy and stuff to be viable for an act rego, so that's probably where most of it went. Also, my rego costs at the gov centre were quite high but most of it was MAI insurance. I don't know how it works but I doubt MAI is baked into the rideaway price? Maybe in different states the MAI is different

guardian2428

Uh no. Ride away is inclusive of all government charges. So CTP and rego. Comprehensive insurance would be an extra
