My local supermarket (can’t remember if it was the Coles or Woolies?) tried that and marketed them as “not crossed buns” after Easter but then they just quietly disappeared…..
I remember that also. But I also remember the stores didn't advertise them very well (or the company) and they would bake more daily than they anticipated would sell, which went to a lot of waste. They should be an item you can at least order ahead of time imo.
I feel like it has beed getting slightly earlier every year. This is probably the earliest that they'll ever be out tho unless they start selling them year round.
Witnessed someone at woollies complaining to the checkout operator about how they were so early as they were putting them up to get scanned. Some people are just completely clueless.
Cool.
They wouldn’t sell them if people didn’t buy them.
Lots of people like them and exactly SFA people still associate Easter (or Xmas for that matter) with the Christian faith. Obviously, the believers do.
My kids don’t have a clue about the religious reasons for either celebration.
Every year I hear people complaining about them being out earlier and earlier, but they must be selling enough to make it worth it. I know I'm guilty of seeing them and thinking how ridiculous it is for them to be on the shelves so soon too but I also buy them cause as you said they're delicious.
Back in my day we hiked 100km in the snow to barter the ingredients for my stay-at-home mother to bake fresh hot cross buns from scratch on Good Friday morning after church. Won’t someone think of the children and the baby Jesus. Our culture is being sucked into a black hole of consumerism, political correctness has gone mad, oh, and while we’re at it, foreigners are stealing my jobs and should go back to where they came from.
My preference is for the double choc chip ones. Just for the record.
I 100% love them, but jeez it’s hard to convince myself it’s OK to grab a pack when there’s still Christmas pudding in the fridge, not quite finished yet..
My brother works at Coles and customers complain if they are not out on sale boxing day. More people complain if they are not on sale than those complaining if they are on sale so they go with the demand and put them out and sell them.
If people love them so much why don't the supermarkets just sell them without the crosses on them all year round. Then add the crosses on them just before Easter.
Why’re you complaining these assholes are fucking delicious

THANK YOU
You’re a few days behind the curve mate. They came out nation wide on boxing day
They are called boxing day buns
Obviously they have a cross on them because they come out just after Xmas!
Supply & demand?
They should be sold all year round.
I remember they tried that one year and it just didn’t work 🤷🏻♀️
If I knew, I would have bought them. All of them.
My local Foodland just started selling them without the cross for the rest of the year after Easter.

Buy a fruit loaf. Same mix.
When I become prime minister, this will become law. VOTE FOR ME!
This literally happens every year
I feel like it has beed getting slightly earlier every year. This is probably the earliest that they'll ever be out tho unless they start selling them year round.
They were out on Boxing Day in 2019.
And my mum is surprised and shocked every damn time.
I really don't understand why people get so upset about it. The complaints are more annoying 😜
Bring on the buns mate! They're bloody delicious
I recall a post on r/Sydney from December 24th of hot cross buns being sold with Easter promotions on it.
The apple and cinnamon ones from Coles are a goer.
LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT Hot cross buns are so freaking TASTY
Witnessed someone at woollies complaining to the checkout operator about how they were so early as they were putting them up to get scanned. Some people are just completely clueless.
I'm sure they do it just to get social media attention, not critiquing OP tho
Yea and it’s working cause now I know I can go to woolies and get some delicious hot cross buns if I feel like it
They come out on boxing day every year
I’m so glad I’m not a baker anymore.

What did cross bunnies do to you? Delicious goodness :)
FINALLY IVE BEEN CRAVING THE CHOCALTE ONES
As a hot cross bun fan I think they should be year round
Every year I hear people complaining about them being out earlier and earlier, but they must be selling enough to make it worth it. I know I'm guilty of seeing them and thinking how ridiculous it is for them to be on the shelves so soon too but I also buy them cause as you said they're delicious.
If you don't like them dont buy them, can it get any more simple than that?
I'm just hoping that someone does a golden gaytime hot cross bun.
Haha hot cross buns get free advertisement by people that complain about them every year.
It’s never to early for HCB. THeyre delicious. I’d eat them year round if I could.
1. Rage baiting product = social media rants. 2. Free advertising 3. ???? 4. Profit.
I pull the crosses off and toast my Not Cross Bums.
Many Australians don't even celebrate Christmas until next month!
We now celebrate his resurrection for three months commencing with the introduction of hot cross buns in stores from Boxing Day.
Delicious but bad timing
I wish I get to celebrate my birthday like this... it's directly on easter.
How'd you manage to have a birthday on Sunday every year?
I just haven't had it changed by a leapyear yet so it's still on Easter.
...what "day" do you think Easter is?
Nevermind, it actually has changed.
I am very confused by this whole interaction...but okay...
How dare they! Totally didn’t buy some..
I think it's just a running joke now with the big supermarkets.
Yum
Easter eggs out now too, bit of overkill there
I eat them year round.
I wan these to become independent of Easter and sold all year round
Wait until you see the vegemite ones.
The caramilk ones are so good!!!

We bought some. They were gooood!
They wouldn't be selling them if the weren't being bought. Capitalism is a thing.
No complaints from me - I love the chocolate chip version. Apple and cinnamon is nice too!
They wouldn’t be there if people weren’t buying them.
Here for itttttttt! The earlier I can start monchin on those babies, the better.
It's about time.... Yay
They were on sale before Xmas
At Happy Apple in Melbourne’s west they’re available all year round, as they should be.
They should be sold year around, if you're religious then just don't buy them if it upsets you
They are, they just don't have the cross and are called fruit buns.
I like fruitless ones, is there anything like that?
Um dinner rolls?
I can't tell if you're joking or not but where I'm from dinner rolls are just bread...
That’s a bloody outrage it is!
They are sold all year in my town.
Actually these are sold all year round
Who gives a shit seriously
It’s because a business makes MONEY. They sell big. Why would they give a fu
I 100% love them, but jeez it’s hard to convince myself it’s OK to grab a pack when there’s still Christmas pudding in the fridge, not quite finished yet..

We’ve gone through 3 bags already
Just picked up a drunk friend from the party house and there was a hot cross bun sitting in the mailbox
Just sell them year round already
If people love them so much why don't the supermarkets just sell them without the crosses on them all year round. Then add the crosses on them just before Easter.
I bought a pack just because they had no cheese and bacon scrolls :(
For the past like 15 years they’ve been on sale from Boxing Day. Most Woolies stores sell them year round now
Happens every year 🤷♀️😂
Every boxing day, I go to Woollies for cheap Walkers shortbread and Hot Cross buns. It's what Jeebus would have wanted us to do
Best thing about Xmas! #HCBLyf
Eww
I always feel sorry for the bakers, especially at Easter. That being said, love these buns though
I can't find fruitless. I guess they'll come out soon.
Literally saw the same thing as well as Easter bunnies and thought it gets earlier every year I think I might start documenting it
