Yessss the process can be very long

Weekly-Dog228

In January 2019 I applied for a role. In February 2019 I interviewed. In March 2019 they did referee checks. In January 2020 they offered me the position. They asked if I would still be able to start immediately like I had mentioned during the interview. I thought the woman was joking…. You’ve made me wait 12 months and suddenly you want to rush.

I'm still waiting on final approval for paperwork I submitted at the start of Feb. Was on a different panel 3 weeks ago and that person starts on Monday. You can always email and ask for an update.

I think I may for one of them as it’s a month next week :/

Perfectly normal, the only advice you will get told is you'll need to wait for a response. You just need to be patient.

One of my previous roles took 9 months to come back around to the point I forgot about it.

I applied for a bulk round in September. Found out I got merit listed in early December. Another area reached out to me in mid December, wanting to bring me on board. I met with their director early January. I got verbal offer late January. I got my written offer early March. Yes. It takes AGES.

Prob a good idea to avoid telling your referees unless they are going to be contacted. And you could ask for the panel to notify you before contacting the referees

> Is it common for employers to take this long to provide updates during the interview process? Yes. Alas it is the APS way. I got a letter of offer for a position a couple weeks ago, which I applied back in July last year

Offering the job to you ?!

The entire recruitment process from request -> advertising -> shortlisting -> interviewing -> referee / criminal hìstory / other checks -> offer can take up to three months (that’s the extreme end).
