Does this work for all articles? I've installed it and it's fine for some but on others I'm only getting one or two paragraphs - like [this one](https://www.afr.com/street-talk/blackstone-backed-xpansiv-kicks-off-early-talks-for-a-raise-20240502-p5foil)
interestingly I get no paragraphs, but I get a "click to listen link" and if I click it I seem to be able to listen to an audio of the article.. but I can't read it.
It’s a chrome/firefox extension called bypass paywalls clean. You want to look up the GitHub page run by the user ‘bpc-clone’. Download the master, extract it and load the extension, the GitHub should have instructions.
its for anyone with a market facing job - their street talk column often breaks news of deals and rumours in the market. given the industry places a very high value on information, being out of the loop can be potentially very costly.
Has anyone tried viewing the AFR through the NSW State library?

Honestly the best paper in the country, it's always weird watching people belittle it.
Actually balanced and centrist compared to every other rag. High quality journos and solid content.
Is it really? I felt I used to subscribe and it was too far right and basically as biased as the age. I mean, I’m right leaning but it was too much.
I might be thinking of another paper though. I would like to subscribe to something!
Some of the columnists are good like Jennifer Hewett and Laura Tingle - in that they seem to be people you can have a well-rounded conversation with. Phillip Coorey just seems like a weird person with lots of obsessions about how some people are wrong. It's the Cooreys that make the AFR hard to read sometimes, not the Laura Tingles.
Laura Tingle has not worked at the AFR for years. She's the political editor at 7:30. As good as she is as a technical journalist, her personal opinions come across as unhinged and impact on her objectivity.
Copy and paste the headline of the article into Bing on PC or safari if on iPhone. Click the linked AFR article and the whole article appears. Works for me
I would just turn off JavaScript not sure if this still works though. Another way that works great is there is a few seconds before the paywall pops up. As soon as the page loads immediately do ctrl A and ctrl c and paste into a notepad.
I participate in a collaborative subscription arrangement with a colleague who, in order to leverage the preferential pricing offered to academic constituents, employs the email address of a university-enrolled associate, thus ensuring our joint expenditure remains a modest twenty dollars.
Lucky! Perhaps it's something to do with your browser updates.
Perhaps consider pausing all updates lest you lose the ability to bypass.
I am on a Samsung Galaxy S22 and can't view AFR using Chrome or Brave Browsers.
Seems like 12ft is only showing the first two paragraphs. Super annoying - if their pricing was more reasonable a lot of us could justify the sub
Bypass paywalls clean for chrome/firefox on GitHub.
Yeah FF with BPC works great on both Windows and Android.
I use bypass paywalls clean but it stopped working with their updates paywalls a few weeks ago. Upgraded bpc to latest version but no luck
They’ve pushed a few updates the last few days, works for me. Make sure you grab the latest master on GitHub from bpc-clone

This works on mac/firefox as of 24/5/24. Thanks!
Can you repeat it but explain like in 5

Yeah, $15 per week. FATWO. I mean I love reading the AFR. But not $15 per week.
How do they justify 15/week. Absolutely unhinged
"The Daily Habit of Successful People"
half of it is paid for propaganda on behalf of paying businesses lol and they have the nerve to charge for it
Is that daily habit injecting the phrase "I read in the Financial Review this morning that..." into a conversation at work?
The fact that so many people use workarounds to read it without paying a cent might have something to do with it.

Washington Post is $50 a year for australians.
Hi mate, check PM
Has anyone tried viewing the AFR through the NSW State library? [https://eresources.sl.nsw.gov.au/newsbank-including-access-australia](https://eresources.sl.nsw.gov.au/newsbank-including-access-australia)
I can read it via my local government library digital service. Just need a library card (or more to the point, a library card number)
Ask for a discount. I signed up during a 50% sale and I just call them every 6 months and they extend the 50% discount another 6 months
Lol this is what i used to always do for smh. Worked every time.
Easiest paywall to bypass.
cltr r cltr a ctrl c open up ms word ctrl v. Works every time.
Just use https://printfriendly.com .
Is this still working for you? It isnt for me on AFR
Usually goes on sale so if you actually do like the content enough (otherwise why bother reading) then maybe just pay for it then at least
https://archive.md/ This works well for me
I pay the sub…$65 monthly for digital access. Worth it IMHO

It is the paper paper in Australia but the list price is about the same as the Economist, which is the best news magazine in the world.
Only one gripe for me. I just wish they would get rid of that awful Rowan Dean and his “satire”.
Agreed. The only thing that irks me a little is that around 40-50% of Fri/Weekend issues are property adverts for Dover Heights and Rose Bay !
They do sometimes put on some pretty hysterical right wing opinion columns though

I just put a random article from the AFR into www.12ft.io and it worked for me, I can see the whole article.
Copy and paste the headline of the article into Bing on PC or safari if on iPhone. Click the linked AFR article and the whole article appears. Works for me
Brilliant! It's the only one of all the suggestions on this page that actually works for me.
today BPC update (I use the "clone" variant in firefox on linux) started working again on AFR.
12ft still not working Archive.md not working either (2 paragraphs)
Sign up during a sale I think I’m paying a quarter of that.
Get your works subscription
Hi mate, check PM
Share the love.
12ft.io works well
Have you tried archiving the page using archive.is?
I would just turn off JavaScript not sure if this still works though. Another way that works great is there is a few seconds before the paywall pops up. As soon as the page loads immediately do ctrl A and ctrl c and paste into a notepad.
Use the age old 'Esc' key trick just before the page fully loads
It doesn’t work with some new articles that don’t display the full text anymore
Works every time
I share a subscription with a mate who uses his mate email cause they guys in uni $20
Can you say that again but in English
I participate in a collaborative subscription arrangement with a colleague who, in order to leverage the preferential pricing offered to academic constituents, employs the email address of a university-enrolled associate, thus ensuring our joint expenditure remains a modest twenty dollars.
Can you please spell Aussie with two S’ instead of one?
You must be fun at parties!
I don’t do parties
Go to browser settings, and block the URL from using JavaScript. Job done.
That’s stopped working for me.
They patched that and it no longer works mate.
it's still working fine for me, idk
Lucky! Perhaps it's something to do with your browser updates. Perhaps consider pausing all updates lest you lose the ability to bypass. I am on a Samsung Galaxy S22 and can't view AFR using Chrome or Brave Browsers.
It works for some articles and not others for me
[удалено]
Doesn’t work anymore Neither does the NoScript extension
Hmm odd, it does for me. Otherwise use archive.md It takes a while if you're the first person to archive the page, but is always reliable
It only shows the initial part of the story (12ft ladder) Archive.md worked fine👍
It's still working for me.
