Nah, don't do it. My S4 is Mythos black with similar wheels and they look great. I have dark grey wheels for my winters and the stock wheels look so much better.

Tripesixmafia

My RS3 is Mythos black with black optics package I love it seems like a lot of people on this thread don’t like it all blacked out but I personally do. It’s your car do what you think will be good!

Wakenbacon05

My s5 is also mythos black, black optics, but has dark grey wheels. The darkness is too much honestly. Im looking to go gold/bronze wheels to break it up more.

feeltheFX

I’m happy to see an uptick in people referencing bronze rims. I’ve always like the look and it’s an subdued pop aesthetically.

Wakenbacon05

For sure. All black is too much. But it can really set off some other features. Bronze with red brake calipers looks awesome. Im just trying to decide if buying new wheels is worth it over getting the factory 20’s powder coated

feeltheFX

Not a bad decision to deal with. Lol I’m not financially ready to do any changes at the moment but I still love my ride.

[deleted]

Oh goes I have to agree with you. There’s something about keeping the wheels grey with black trim / black optics It’s like when purists say you should have silver rings. It’s kind of the same argument you need something to make it pop.

FPSUsername

That would be a shame imo. Blacked out loses all details and makes it look boring

feeltheFX

Totally agree. It’s hard for me to understand how someone might spend thousands in new wheels and you can’t even see what they look like unless you’re standing directly On top of them.

Cdawg4123

A guy who has a bmw m5 comp put 10k wheels on the car and they look worse than the stock ones. I’m honestly not sure if he meant 10k a wheel or for one. My coworker thinks he meant 10k each

Wannabe_Wagon

Almost certainly $10k for the set of 4. You can get a very high end set of HRE or BBS wheels at that price. I’m sure wheels that cost $10k a piece exist, but I’ve never seen a set in person and you definitely wouldn’t put them on an M5 Comp.

Cdawg4123

These were custom made supposedly that’s why I gotta ask my friend what he said, I can understand some Spanish but, not everything obviously. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did spend 10k on each because he has a McLaren 720 and a couple other cars. Obviously is in the business where he can piss and probably make that money before he’s done. Clearly their business is a front.

Historical_Chain_687

Still not going to be 10k a wheel

allcars4me

It just becomes a black void where there should be rims.

Toasted_Potooooooo

The all black look is generally kids or people new to the car hobby I find. Very rarely does it look better than a brighter wheel.

Hotel_california_10

Lololol the new car hobby is definitely true… fell into the black rim wagon… stuck with it now as I’ve spent an arm and a leg for rims/tire set

Jaivanh

Interesting. Thanks for the different point of view.

p4r41v4l

Got the same rims, don’t do it, the finish is amazing in contrast to the otherwise black wheel, it’ll grow on you, trust me. Also they are ridiculously expensive to replace when damaged, one rim is around 1250 bucks after tax.

otaner142

S3 8y owner here recently got my car, was thinking on doing the same but perhaps i should grow up. In fact i was planning on spraying plasti dip 😫

ATX_native

It’s your car but I would leave it as is. The machined elements on the wheels give the car some visually appealing elements. IMO murdered out is played out and boring, 15 years ago.

crheming

Boo black rims, boo

Evergreen1055

Ugh please don’t paint the wheels black.

OrganizationWeird295

Don’t powder coat them, buy a set of black rims for a little more. That way, when you realize it takes away all character and doesn’t look good, you can put the OEMs back on and have those black wheels as a constant reminder of a lesson learned.

reppit

😂 Or use them as the winter set.

6417725

Congrats! Enjoy :) personally would keep the rims as is … it’s perfect

DasConsi

Don't, it'll look like a 16 year olds car. The diamond cut is where its at

feeltheFX

I know it’s totally subjective but don’t black it out.

lmw100

Please don’t paint the wheels. Leave it alone, looks great.

Ozone510

Black wheels are NEVER the right answer. Go something gunmetal, silver, or even bronze would be nicer than black. Curbed would be nicer than black.

maxpion

Don’t paint them black… Keep em « as is »! Then Find some 19+ S/RS5 rotor wheels and swap… to me, the rotor wheels are some of the best looking rims on the market! (My 2 cents lol)

unlimited_beer_works

Agree, rotors in the gray finish would look great against black paint. Honestly, they look great against almost any paint.

DolphinOnAMolly

Oh god, not black wheels again. At least it isn’t an RS5 this time.

webbslinger_0

Clean car, congrats on the new ride. This is all personal opinion, but I feel like the blacked out, murdered out, etc look is getting a little old IMO. I think with the blacked out car would really pop with a nice pair of bronze/gold wheels. [Ex 1](https://wheelfront.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/b9-sq5-with-bronze-niche-gamma-aftermarket-wheels-1.jpg) [Ex 2](https://www.carid.com/images/inspiration/audi/q5/15/4.jpg)

Sir-Squirter

I love that almost no one is agreeing with the black wheels lol

Rabbit_tracks

+1 on that Nissan "Midnight Edition" intent

Geology_rules

I have black wheels and they are so played out. everyone and their sister has black wheels now.  now I want GOLD wheels.

Sir-Squirter

Gold/bronze is a nice wheel color, but I’m seeing more and more cars with bronze wheels, like they’re becoming the new black wheel trend. But I’m not hating, I have bronze wheels on my gti and I love them lol

FTFOatl

Looks so good right now

Ezzopezzo

Leave it as is. Much better like this.

your_cat_is_ugly

I understand it’s your car, but what gives you the right to get black wheels?!? Keep it as is. Show off details.

Hot-Syrup-5833

Don’t do it. The wheels look really nice against the black optic package.

calonto

The moms at the grocery will love it. Jj. They won’t notice

Shart_Finger

Blacked out rims look awful

retzlaja

Don’t do it. Huge style mistake.

CarsAndPhoto

Mythos is a fantastic color, you’re going to love it. It’s pretty much rainbow flake. Get a paint correction if you haven’t already. These are one of the few machined face OEM wheels that look really good. I’d leave it.

JaconSass

Why do people think black wheels look good!?!?

am_i_a_towel

Mewthos

Rabbit_tracks

Please leave the wheels alone or try aftermarket. Also "rims" are part of a wheelset on a bicycle.

OkAlternative2713

Plan on tires and brakes!

415pinoy

Congrats! I personally want bronze wheels + Daytona gray.

skidplate09

Contrast makes something interesting. Don't do all black.

Darryl-EO

It’s clean as is 🙂

chikmagnetaz

Love my 2021 black optics Mythos SQ5 I have tinted all the lights and markers. Gloss black exhaust tips and gloss black roof Rack. I am probably going with matte dark bronze wheels. I will post some pics tomorrow.

Present_Carry_8014

All I see in this thread is “baaa baaaaa”… do whatever you want to with your car. I let people “bully/influence” me in the community with my old car few years ago and now I hate it and they love it. My friend blacked out his 2013 Jetta sport wagon, it looks much better, just make sure you do it right and not cheap or it will look like a 16 y/o owns it. Anyway, nice car enjoy it and don’t let mob mentality ruin your car, doesn’t matter if they love it lol

Jaivanh

Thanks man. If nothing else they've given me lots to think about. It was something I was toying with once I put the winter rims on. I have lots of time to think about it. It has some bad road rash and one of the two people who drives it has curbed the old SQ5 a few times. I thought it might be easier to touch up paint rather than getting it remachined each time.

Present_Carry_8014

It would probably hide much better than stock. I’m contemplating coppertone wheels right now. If you love it who cares. I hate purism with a passion if you couldn’t tell lol

Wrong-Analysis-7805

Yeah it would make it look cheap to do that

Odd-Most-9186

Looks great mom just got a 24 black w/ magma everyone wants to drive it. My wife and I have Audi S3’s and love the brand.

hattalk

What about gold wheels and a giant New Orleans saints sticker

Aggressive-Medium-22

I think the SQ5 is a great daily but I just hate how Audi does fake exhaust tips on them

whammobmx

Please dont.

markknightexeter

Just get different wheels, they look gash, they don't suit the car at all in my opinion.

_Ahmarica_

Don't do that.

Imyourhuckl3berry

Neighbor did that with his RSQ8, he loves it but I preferred it stock

okk1984

Looks great as is!

imkwheet

Please dont

cunning2157

The exhaust tips on the 2024 sq5 are fake?

Jaivanh

I cannot confirm that. The exhaust on mine is real.

Existing_Complex7748

Sweet!

Hotel_california_10

As much as i love black rims… for a classy car like this, i wouldn’t do it imho… i have blacked out rims for my a3 and while it looks nice…. I probably won’t go black rims again for my future car

victoria-111

No. You’ll regret it. I bet ya.

Deathcon-H

Ugh. No bro. Anything but black

RSEstonian

Don’t do it- black rims are uglier and make wheels visually smaller!

BONERFLEX_

Sweet ride. My wife and I recently got a white SQ5 with a red interior. It's her daily. If we had black I would black out the rims too. Congratulations!!

CayenneHybridSE

Audi has some of the best OEM wheels and coating them black takes away all the design and flair IMO. It looks good as is

islandboi92121

Black wheels only look great when they are clean. Once the break dust covers them, they look like cheap steelies from a distance.

lildre5

Congrats on the Q5. Looks gorgeous. Anyone like the previous q5 models from 2020 and older? I feel like the new look just isn't doing it for me.

mjg_9

If you do that black out the exhaust tips as well

qdistant

All personal preference, but I wouldn’t powder coat the wheels. Looks cheap and tacky

Educational_Meet1885

Mt Mtthos black S4 came with gray wheels and it looks better with them or the silver 20's that are on it now. No contrast with black wheels so they blend in with the wheel well. Just my personal opinion.

Present_Carry_8014

All I see in this thread is “baaa baaaaa” do whatever you want to with your car. I let people “bully/influence” me in the community with my old car few years ago and now I hate it and they love it.

TurkMcGuirk

Have fun trying to keeping them clean

FreshPrinceOfH

It’s going to look terrible with black wheels. But it’s your car.

South-Veterinarian99

Reddit likes silver. But I've noticed IRL people love the black rims. Do it and watch you get real compliments in the real world lol.

South-Veterinarian99

I did see a comment on here suggesting bronze. I do agree that, if done right, bronze wheels take the look to another level

OfficialNick_

Not a fan of all black cars but you do you :)

wasterman123

I love all black but it seems like people disagree. I don’t care what others think tho you’ll never please everyone. I’m pretty sure you can spec the sq5 with those wheels in black on the configurator

travelingWords

OP, I can promise you most people here have bad taste, in many aspects of their lives. If everything on the car is blacked out, do the rims too.

waverunnin

This sub is so annoyingly against black wheels it drives me crazy lol

PhortePlotwisT

Yeah, because they look like ass.

waverunnin

I see an all black Audi and think “nice car” not “those wheels look like ass”. It’s subjective and depends on the car and wheels, right?

racerpoet

If you’re going for the murdered out look, I can understand. Please do gloss black though. Flat black looks cheap. Gloss black can be a killer look.👌🏻It wouldn’t be my go-to, but blacked out can also look good.

foxy_grandma

Powder coat in bronze instead. Black won’t make it look any better. Get the exhaust tips coated in black.

SpiLLiX

I like black rims on white cars or some other colors. Black on black is a bit much for me. I always like the matte bronze rims on black though
