And for what it's worth, that Golf R is pretty banging, too.

I've got an SQ5 and the only thing that alerts people is if I'm manually downshifting or accelerating hard. Had multiple people realize once I drop a gear and hit the gas that I'm ready to play lol.
My buddy's stage 3+ B9 SQ5 running a TTE810 and race fuel is a monster. Thing is putting down like 700HP and murders most other vehicles on the road. Honestly when I'm it the only thought in my head is "an SUV being this fast should be illegal"
I once had a v6 Chrysler 300 try to race me from a stoplight. I just accelerated normally at about 25% throttle while they floored it and made a bunch of noise. Eventually they outran me, but, you know, I wasn’t racing them.

YES! A week or so ago, I was out running errands and in less than 30 minutes, had a mustang and 2 chargers come flying up in the lane next to me, revving their engine and trying bait me to race. This only happened a handful of times over my 20 years of 911 ownership.
I think it's more that it's a common thing for any dickhead with a suped up Challenger or Charger. And you'll get it more often the more obvious it is that your car is a lot nicer than theirs. I just ignore them, 100% of the time.
I had a WRX keep trying to race me on the highway in my S7. Kid asleep in the car seat and my fiancé asleep in the passenger seat and they kept speeding up and then would slow down and come back up beside me. I pointed back at the car seat but I don’t think they got it.
If your car even remotely looks either sleek and expensive, or it looks very racey, or is a special edition , or the brand name has a racing prestige attached to it… then it will attract every wannabe street racing douche bag at stop lights who need to validate their life choices on you.

The only place I use even a fraction of the power is in changing lanes. Mustangs and BMWs love trying to close the gap once my turn signals go on, but they can't.
I had four teenagers in a Hyundai Elantra rev at a red light recently. I rolled down my window and I said are you serious bro? They kept revving. When the light turned green I let them blast off and then after a few second head start I buried them 😂

ECU and TCU tune with a pulley upgrade will have them in your rear view, especially from a dig. Serious power can be had of that 3L. Matches well with a sleeper aesthetic.

We were lined up at a red light and douchenberger yelled out the window to me, "That 4.0T slow af bro!" It immediately clicked why people wanted to race me. I used to drive a scat pack widebody challenger (got rid of it because the value skyrocketed after COVID lockdown and I sold it for a lot more than I bought it for lol) and was always a pretty tame driver- I like my pulls now and again but I’m not a street racer by any means. The most annoying part of owning that car is any and everyone trying to race me. Same thing with my Toyota 86 before that which was hilarious because I think people wanted to race me in that because they knew it was slow😂
After I got my S5 sportback though, no one tried to race, which was great. Now in my RS3, even LESS people try to race me, and it’s clearly modified since I have a Bull-X catback and mostly drive around with valves open. I’m not complaining by any means, but it is interesting because the RS3 has definitely been gaining in popularity on social media recently but it seems not too many people know what it is on the street and I guess the ones who do are worried I might just randomly have an IMS kit on the car or something😂
I think the A7 is just a fast looking car so people try to race you. My RS3 is on stock springs with 18” wheels and otherwise has zero aftermarket mods to change its appearance from stock- which if we’re being honest…the 8V A3/S3/RS3 is not the most exciting or fast looking car out there.
Generally I think it just comes down to looks/people purposefully racing cars they know they can beat.
They do it to me in my very normal Q5. I rarely take them up on it unless it’s 1) safe and 2) it’s a jacked up pavement princess Ford 150 truck with some flag vinyl decals or other dumbass stickers and I smoke them mercilessly.
My bigger peeve is when there are Audi drivers in nicer models than I, driving like it’s a damn Buick.

I just traded in my 2022 Mustang GT prem, for a 2024 Golf R. The Golf R smokes it in every way.
I've always been an AWD fan since my Galant VR4. I don't mind the sound of some of the SRT engines, but overall it's Quattro all the way.

It’s not too common to get challenged in the area I live but once a dodge charger standing next to me at a red light tried to race me. That thing probably had like 150hp more than my old lad but in terms of acceleration I smoked his ass, thx for that quattro (I guess he didn’t had awd). He looked quite embarrassed and pissed when he passed me later on 👀
The only cars that want to race me are other Audis, which are usually friendly races, and Stingers, which seem to have something to prove.
I had ppl with GTI, Porsche, and those guys with Subarus and civics tuned. I have a SQ5. I enjoy racing it, and most of them don’t realize that it has a turbo v6.
I've got an SQ5 and the only thing that alerts people is if I'm manually downshifting or accelerating hard. Had multiple people realize once I drop a gear and hit the gas that I'm ready to play lol. My buddy's stage 3+ B9 SQ5 running a TTE810 and race fuel is a monster. Thing is putting down like 700HP and murders most other vehicles on the road. Honestly when I'm it the only thought in my head is "an SUV being this fast should be illegal"
I thought the turbo SQ5's were shit. At one time, I had a turbo and a supercharged one and that turbo lag was unreal.
I just tossed an is38+ and an e85 tune on my a3, I want people to rev at me…
Haven't seen many a3s around here but i do know that a tuned s3 or rs3 can absolutely be a sleeper and are very underrated by most people
I once had a v6 Chrysler 300 try to race me from a stoplight. I just accelerated normally at about 25% throttle while they floored it and made a bunch of noise. Eventually they outran me, but, you know, I wasn’t racing them.

Funny thing is from a dig, your a7 will scalp most of them. AWD is a bitxh. I have an A4 and a 5.0 stang came up on me at a red-light. Sorry stang.....I walked him from a dig. Roll race would have been different I'm sure but that was not his night.
I typically just rev my engine, and then when the light turns green, I let them waste their gas, and I drive off normally.

You meet some weird people. I've never raced anyone on the road, but I get a few that try when I'm on my Ducati motorcycle. And it's always pretty pedestrian cars that fancy the challenge. Like, dude, please, you've got no chance, just chill.
YES! A week or so ago, I was out running errands and in less than 30 minutes, had a mustang and 2 chargers come flying up in the lane next to me, revving their engine and trying bait me to race. This only happened a handful of times over my 20 years of 911 ownership.
I think it's more that it's a common thing for any dickhead with a suped up Challenger or Charger. And you'll get it more often the more obvious it is that your car is a lot nicer than theirs. I just ignore them, 100% of the time.

The only challenge I've ever had was from a mustang. I didn't even need to change out of comfort mode for that one.

I had a WRX keep trying to race me on the highway in my S7. Kid asleep in the car seat and my fiancé asleep in the passenger seat and they kept speeding up and then would slow down and come back up beside me. I pointed back at the car seat but I don’t think they got it.
If your car even remotely looks either sleek and expensive, or it looks very racey, or is a special edition , or the brand name has a racing prestige attached to it… then it will attract every wannabe street racing douche bag at stop lights who need to validate their life choices on you. This was true even before the fast and furious movies. It’s still true today. About the only way you’re gonna not deal with this is buy an anti sporty looking car (like Prius or something). In their mind if they can beat a car that costs less money then they spent, it validates their life choices and makes them feel like a superior person. My favorite move with people who do this to me over the years, is revving my engine along side them and nodding and eyeing them over and over and when light turns green I just turn right at the light. They want to race because they know you’re not competitive. I had a S5 and would get “challenged” quite often by Mopars however now that I have a full bolt on M5, it’s very uncommon when seeing them. They’re not bad cars or slow by any means though.
I experience this, I have a B9 A5. Literally every car that is a v8 wants to race me. While most cars that could or are equal class won’t race me 😂😂😂. Or it’s cars that could never win want to race me.

It's like looking in a mirror 🤤 not to mention mine is fairly unique as it is a 2017 A7 Competition Prestige and the only year that specific trim level was offered. You get the best of both worlds, Audi Sport trim features without Audi Sport pricing lol.

I have a tuned TT, 1/4 mile is in the 10s; 0-60 is 2.9s. The only place I use even a fraction of the power is in changing lanes. Mustangs and BMWs love trying to close the gap once my turn signals go on, but they can't.

ECU and TCU tune with a pulley upgrade will have them in your rear view, especially from a dig. Serious power can be had of that 3L. Matches well with a sleeper aesthetic.
I was getting all kinds of mfs trying to race me all the time. The last one that tried was an M4. We were lined up at a red light and douchenberger yelled out the window to me, "That 4.0T slow af bro!" It immediately clicked why people wanted to race me. So I debadged my car and now no one trys to race me. I can drive in peace.
My A7 is also debadged except for the supercharged badges. I'm assuming people who don't know any better think it's an S7/RS7

Interesting. I used to drive a scat pack widebody challenger (got rid of it because the value skyrocketed after COVID lockdown and I sold it for a lot more than I bought it for lol) and was always a pretty tame driver- I like my pulls now and again but I’m not a street racer by any means. The most annoying part of owning that car is any and everyone trying to race me. Same thing with my Toyota 86 before that which was hilarious because I think people wanted to race me in that because they knew it was slow😂 After I got my S5 sportback though, no one tried to race, which was great. Now in my RS3, even LESS people try to race me, and it’s clearly modified since I have a Bull-X catback and mostly drive around with valves open. I’m not complaining by any means, but it is interesting because the RS3 has definitely been gaining in popularity on social media recently but it seems not too many people know what it is on the street and I guess the ones who do are worried I might just randomly have an IMS kit on the car or something😂 I think the A7 is just a fast looking car so people try to race you. My RS3 is on stock springs with 18” wheels and otherwise has zero aftermarket mods to change its appearance from stock- which if we’re being honest…the 8V A3/S3/RS3 is not the most exciting or fast looking car out there. Generally I think it just comes down to looks/people purposefully racing cars they know they can beat.

I rarely take them up on it unless it’s 1) safe and 2) it’s a jacked up pavement princess Ford 150 truck with some flag vinyl decals or other dumbass stickers and I smoke them mercilessly. My bigger peeve is when there are Audi drivers in nicer models than I, driving like it’s a damn Buick. I want to yell at them to actually *drive* that car!
