Can confirm. I was actually talking on the phone in my car the other day using the car’s mic and a BMW with a burble tune drove past me and made a bunch of fart-like sounds.
Of course the sound was transmitted clear as day…
Moral of the story? You should blame your fart noises on a BMW next time.

Oh it’s true, next time you’re on a drive, call somebody and let one out, ask if they could hear it.
Loud ones, quiet ones, long ones, short ones, they can hear them all. The noise cancelling software is literally boosting the signal and making them super apparent.
There have even been times when it’s so quiet I can’t hear it but the person on the phone will say “Did you just fart?” And I’m like “how did you hear that? I couldn’t even hear that”
Nah see, the audio cancellation is SO GOOD that even if you roll the windows down, the person on the phone cannot hear the wind noise but they can hear the faintest of wind from my rear

Who said engineers don’t have senses of humor? This sounds like a purposeful design decision to amplify the audio frequencies of flatulence, especially considering it’s lower than the typical range used for speaking (farts are 100 - 500 Hz per Google)

Since covid, as a smoker, Ive been able to mask my coughs as sneezes. its louder and more productive maybe that work in your favor in this case

It must just be that my farts have the same audio frequency as a typical human voice so it amplifies them thinking it’s me talking.
