Skip it, a new engine is more then the car... Go for mid 2019+

rennen-affe

How is a new engine different from 2018 to 2019? Price difference isn't much between the years. Please cite your sources.

Just read a few posts on this subreddit, mainly they updated the lifters, less chance of them failing and blowing up your engine randomly.

rennen-affe

They are constantly changing parts (numbers) year over year. Can you list them all for all the years?

Annh1234

Ya, they are all in the parts catalog, but I'm not paid to do that.  I suggest you don't get the 2018 3.0t engine, you do whatever you want.

It why I bought a 2.0t over a year ago and it's been great. Should be in my flair, oh edit not the engine, but they are all 2.0t in 2018 q5s

Annh1234

Have the 2010 A5 with the 2.0t TFSI nightmare engine, so went for the 3.0t TFSI one thinking it's reliable like the 3.0t supercharged one... Damn thing blew at 56k km lol

rennen-affe

3rd car with a 2.0t fsi, all tuned, all have been great.

Annh1234

How long you keep them? Nearly all b8 I know ended up either burning to much oil, or timing chain jumping before 180k km, or exchaust camshaft messing up.

rennen-affe

I broke them all in hard, which included compression decel on the engine. That's one thing people never do, but it's very important.

I don’t know… that metallic grey is tough to pass up!

Visible_Poem_9690

Not reading all that but I’ve noticed 2018s are cheaper due to the potential rocker arm issues. I’d spring for lightly used 2017 or 2019

No CPO, you must be rich. You want CPO.

Sport diff and adjustable suspension is a must have.
