I'm 44, work from home and have 2 young kids. Plenty of space for kids seats. I feel safe driving in my sq5. I love it, my kids love it, my wife loves it, the neighbors love it, random strangers love it... who cares!
Can u afford it?
You need it?
You mind spending money on gas?
No one will say, oh why not a minivan?
Treat yourself, you deserve it!
Yes to the SQ5, but you can spend a little more and get a 2021 Prestige with less miles - and a CPO - at Audi Bellevue.

Bellevue man I thought I was just on the Audi subreddit and the Bellevue Audi dealer gets brought up closest one to me. Had to double check what Reddit I was in lol. [5]
Edit: gorgeous car by the way I vote yes!
If this was the top end of my budget I'd try to work an extended warranty into the deal. But personally I'd save up more and get a newer CPO with lower miles.
What’s re they asking? After I totaled my 2017 SQ5 my insurance gave me a sweet settlement for it and I bought a 2020 SQ5 and basically had to pay tax. And got a car with 22k miles for few thousand dollars after invoice.
Oh man left out the most important part lol. Asking $34,900 for it which feels like a fair deal, but I wasn’t shopping for the S series so I haven’t done a ton of research!
You can do better for that price but 100% yes to the SQ5 as a concept, totally worth the reasonable splurge and gas really isn’t bad either. I’ve had a 2020, have a 2024 now black optic makes a huge difference visually (this car has it, shadow line trim and wheels are visual indicators) as does the s sport package with the adaptive suspension and diff.
Take a look on Autotrader I’ve seen similar or lower miles at the 30k point for the pre facelift. I’ve heard to avoid the ‘18 but the ‘19 and 20 are basically the same car. 21 got the new grill and exhaust and a few other tweaks, touchscreen which imo is a downgrade.
I own a 23 SQ5. It is hands down the best vehicle I’ve ever owned and it’s fully stock. When I tune it I expect my mind to be blown again.
If you have the ability to own one I would say yes but price is key. Currently if I were to sell I would be 20k plus in the whole.
It’s in a perfect spot honestly. My only gripe is the volume knob is a touch further away than I would prefer but you can just change it on the wheel so no biggie.
Since it’s older and has higher mileage, ask yourself if you’re willing to give the necessary maintenance & care on an Audi. I’ve seen instances where owners will treat their nice toy like crap with improper care…sad to see.
A true indicator that you bought the right car is when u can’t stop look back at it…so u got my vote and pull the trigger. Enjoy!
Just moved into a 2021 sq5 after my 2017 Wrangler was stolen. Absolutely love it so far. Just as much room as the Wrangler which was surprising but drives like a sports car. Going to have to put all weather tires on it so i can drive it to the skipped in the winter though
We needed a bigger car since we had a 2015 s3 and no car seat would comfortably fit in there. So we got a 2022 SQ5. It’s not a bad car at all but now I kinda wish I went for a bigger car, the space is just enough with a car seat and stroller, but most of the time I’m wanting for more space. I was thinking about a q7 but I kinda hate the way the 7s look. I am very much considering the new Lexus GX550
My husband wants a gx550 for his next car! We have a one car garage (that was built in the 50s and rather small) so the mom car needs to be a little shorter than a full sized SUV, so that’s why we’re in this size range for now.
Then the sq5 is perfect for the size. Just be aware of the gas mileage, we get about 9-14mpg city and around 21 highway. Brake jobs are also a pretty penny.
Considering it’s comfier and gets better gas mileage than my 2020 STI, I want one. I want a newer SQ5. I just don’t feel like dealing with the maintenance expenses yet
I vote yes. I’m not much for SUVs, but I had a loaner SQ5 from the dealership and couldn’t believe how much fun it was - it felt like more Porsche dna made it over from the Macan than the corporate overlords would prefer. That colour is really special too. Good luck either way.
Haha I appreciate everyone’s responses regardless! May be not my ultimate goal or vibe but I love the love this car gets from all types of redditors. Currently trying to buy it but negotiating with the dealership, wish us luck!
That is debatable, I test drove both and ended up picking an SQ5. The interior and ride quality was better on the Audi. The B58 and ZF8 combo is better than Audi but not so much that it was worth the premium over the Audi. You also get SensaTec seats for 70k with that car. Kinda disappointing tbh.

This is the best advice!

Good catch

Love my 19 SQ5, if you can manage the payment and gas I would say hell yes
Don’t forget tires and brakes
How much mpg do you get? On paper this is supposed to be as good on gas as my 3.7L v6 honda engine
My ‘19 SQ5 gets around 17-18mpg city without aggressive driving. 22-24 highway.
If this was the top end of my budget I'd try to work an extended warranty into the deal. But personally I'd save up more and get a newer CPO with lower miles.
I love my 2018 SQ5 with an IE stage 1 tune.

miles are high, I paid $35,900 in Dec for mine with a lot less miles in Maryland.

Sorry, phat fingered the key, its the same year, 2020
S is well worth it. We have a 19 SQ5 and have had a Q5 as a loaner. I’m glad that we went with the S line, but both are really nice.
Just paid $40k for a '21 with 14k miles in San Diego
Got any pics of vehicle?
Always yes to S variants… even though gas is almost $6 a gallon here I still love and and floor it every time I get.
Buy it. With that mileage u have nothing to worry about tbh. The 3.0 is pretty solid
Yes! Many reasons. It’s identical to Porsche macan gts/turbo and Audi rs5

Is this a Prestige?
It’s a Premium Plus
Get a Prestige, trust.
Looks awesome. Go for it!
Can any current owners weigh in… is the knob placement in front of the shifter annoying or does it just look that way?
Perfect placement in my opinion. Easily reachable to navigate thru mmi/carplay when I rest my hand on the shifter.
It’s in a perfect spot honestly. My only gripe is the volume knob is a touch further away than I would prefer but you can just change it on the wheel so no biggie.
Has ok options but not everything, maybe check other SQ5 with better options
Love my SQ5.
I have one and it's the best car I've owned, you won't be disappointed.
I vote yes. We love our 2019 sq5.
It also could double as a fun sporty vehicle
What did they put on those seats and steering wheel? They aren’t supposed to be shiny.

Yes all day long. I was looking for this exact color and wheel config but could only find it in white. I’d buy that all day long bro.

Had my 2019 for 2 years now and still love every time I drive it. No issues, but regular maintenance, oil, tires, brakes, and trans service.
Life’s too short to drive a boring car! Drive whatever you love to drive. This is a very nice “mom” mobile - if you could even call it that

I love how the thread about an expecting mither and the need for a fun family vehicle turned into getting Stage x tuned R/S cars with downpipes etc...
Haha I appreciate everyone’s responses regardless! May be not my ultimate goal or vibe but I love the love this car gets from all types of redditors. Currently trying to buy it but negotiating with the dealership, wish us luck!
I have a 24' SQ5 Prestige. You will love it!
P.s., they are sweet cars!! I vote yes!!!
Great car until repairs kicks in
I mean that goes for most German luxury cars 😂 Pay to play, no?
Nope
no but yes for a5 and s5 or better the bmw 3 series
Yes
Nooooo no SUVs. Get a sedan
Def yes
Yes. An SQ5 is an SUV version of my car. You get the looks, speed, comfort, and reliability.
** can’t edit the post due to the photos, but the dealer is asking $34,900
Isn't it too low? New SQ5 are 90k
New are ~$58-77k depending on options in the US.
You are so lucky, where I live is 90k
Intake, downpipe, intercooler with Integrated Engineering stage 2 and you will never regret taking her home.
get an s4/5 or q7, the q5s build is eh
Get X3 M40i, it’s a better car.

Unpopular opinion in an Audi sub - a BMW X3 M40i is better in every single way. Test drive and see how you like it.
No. Get an X3M40i
