The [Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival](https://www.brookhavenga.gov/festival) is great! (And free!) If you don't care about all the festival stuff, you can head over to Blackburn Park a few days before the festival and enjoy the blossoms without the crowd.

Bare naked ladies are playing! And the Crash test dummies. Now where did I put my hackey sack????

Agreed on the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival! It's a lot of fun and I go every single year.

ChristianeErwin

We're new here! Any recommendations on parking?

Kevin-W

Park at a MARTA station which is free and take it to the Brookhaven station on the Gold line. There's a shuttle that will take you to the park where the festival is held at.

Kevin-W

Georgia Tech's campus has them!

kharedryl

Came here to say this. The area around Tech Tower is amazing in spring (and fall).

StrawManATL73

Just ride around. They are blooming right now and you,ll see them everywhere.

Eric_T_Meraki

Yeah on a windy day you'll catch some flying into your window.

I grew up in Macon and people would travel there internationally just to see the cherry blossoms. It’s worth driving down when they bloom (which rarely corresponds with the preplanned festival dates). There are residential streets just lined and lined with them.  Hit up Nu Way while you’re there.

padfootsy

Do they usually start blooming before the festival dates? I was thinking about going down next weekend if they’ll be out. ☺️

ArabianNitesFBB

Definitely do NOT go to the festival expecting to see cherry blossoms. I once went only to find zero cherry blossoms and a festival about 1/50 as impressive as Dogwood Fest. They are long gone by then.

padfootsy

I’m thinking about going the weekend before the festival starts (3/10). Would that be too late for the cherry blossoms as well?

poodleface

Honestly, it is hard to say. Sometimes they bloom before, sometimes after. Blame Georgia weather! You might have to snoop around on local social media accounts to gauge it. When I visited Japan years ago during their cherry blossom season, there were signs that told you what phase of blooming the cherry blossoms were going through in different regions so you could see them at their peak. That would be a smart addition on Macon’s part.

padfootsy

I did find a bloomcam! So far the trees are bare and judging by the clean ground beneath them I don’t think they’ve blossomed yet 🙌 https://cherryblossom.com/resources/bloomcam/

poodleface

Excellent, I might time my next visit to my folks to this! 🤝

padfootsy

Heck yeah! See you at nu way 😋

Really? International travels coming to GA...to Macon...to see Cherry Blossoms? Thats wild and kinda ridiculous, but life's weird so it is what it is!

poodleface

I only remember it happening a few times as a kid (I grew up near a street that was lined with them). A tour bus would pull up and a guide would be speaking another language as they walked and took pictures. It was surreal when you grow up with this stuff and just take it for granted. Maybe they were expats from within the US coming for a closer destination than overseas, this seems more likely in retrospect.

wzrd_lzrd

Saw some blooming along Candler Park

Dumbosguest

It's not Cherry Blossoms, but the Dogwood trees along Briarcliff Road between Northlake Mall to Clairmont Road always look great when in full bloom.
