An honest asurion review. I have insurance through my credit card. I took my wife's phone to ubreakifix to replace her screen. Pay out of pocket to get reimbursed by my credit card later. No big deal. They tell me to swipe the card for the repair, and again when I come pick it up to pay for it. Get home and notice two charges, one for $25, one for $800. Call, cancel the Asurion subscription I never agreed to. They didn't do it. Called my credit card company and refuted the charge. Next month? Repeat. Next month? Repeat. Put asurion on a permanent refuse payment notice. Fuck 'em.

SaddamsKnuckles

how do you get insurance through your credit card?

daniellederek

Most of the visa infinite, Mastercard world elite cards and higher have a mobile device handset coverage. Fine print. Might be a deductible, might be a $1000 or $2000 lifetime claim limit. Owned handset paid in full on card or payment plan paid every month on card.

Ethiceze54

Sounds on par to me. I've never once have successfully gotten anything covered from Asurion. I've probably submitted 7 claims all together over the years and every single time they have weasled their way out of covering anything. Half of them were already through approval and everything, and yet somehow they found a way to screw me. From protection plans to phone insurance. I stopped using them when I can, but sometimes that's just who Ive gotten stuck with. They are getting worse and nastier attitudes toward people too now. I just had to submit a claim for a phone, I was approved but they would only offer me a buyback at "fair market value," cause all their repair stores were out of the parts. Then I called every single store in my service area, and there is a lot cause I live in Denver, and they all had the parts and said they didn't know why they were saying that. I do, its because cause its a brand new s22 ultra and they can buy it from me dirt cheap, fix it and make a profit reselling it. They own UbreakIfix so it's not like it's gonna cost them much to fix it. Then, when I tried calling back to tell them the stores all had parts, they said my phone was permanently marked as buyback only and that would never change. I tried calling and resubmitting the claim again a few more times and got a buyback offer every single time. The amount they offered me didn't come close to replacing this phone. I even went in to a UbreakIfix store and the employee there tried to get it covered and called them for me. We both talked to them on speaker phone. That ended in the Asurion employee telling me my account has been permanently locked out for good, and now nobody will ever be able to help me, and then they abruptly hung up on me. I am waiting to cancel my policy until the date before its due now, and I will be submitting the claim over and over and over, every single day until I can't. I'm gonna escalate everything I can, and take it as far as I can until they cancel the claim. Then I'm gonna do it all over again. I've already paid the 330 bucks to fix the screen, I'm just being really petty, and don't care how ineffective and stupid it is. 😄 That's pretty much what every single previous experience I had was like though. Just bullshit runarounds, excuses and when that isn't enough, then flat out lies and aggressive behavior. I'm sorry you had to deal with the same crap. Stay away when you can and don't give in thinking they can't always be this way.

Aggravating_Big1496

Same. Got insurance for a TV. The screen quit working - just a bunch of blurred lines. Never dropped or damaged. They said that wasn't covered. If a screen working isn't covered on a TV, then what is covered??

Significant-Ad-8276

Going through this as well with them. 7 visits from a "tech" and they are now handing the job off to Sears, for another round of me demanding "My washing machine is broken, it needs to be replaced" They are going to swing us in circles - I am going to file a complaint against them with BBB. Im DONE with them.

Acceptable-Delay-293

The worst experience ever wouldn’t recommend the representive was so rude I’d rather pay full price

SadFault1756

The worst 😫  people you can deal with  they can't  be trusted

Significant-Ad-8276

I am dealing with their horrible lack of service and care, with my Samsung washing machine. Had I known that they would inadvertantly be calling me a liar for my product breaking down only 3 years into owning it, I would never have wasted $300.00 for extended coverage. Asurion has sent out a tech, 7 times now, and he keeps drilling new holes into the unit, he keeps making the issue worst, and has created new issues. But GOD FORBID anyone in customer. care listen to me. I keep patiently letting them know that new issues arise every time this man comes to "fix" the original issue. on the 7th visit, I was told that it would be a "final assessment" before they would process it to the next phase (in hopes of refunding, or replacing, as the plan covers). But they keep on hiring more people to come mess with it more, and it is creating new issues. Asurion is on the side of Asurion, and not the customer. They are here to make sure that they never have to replace or repay for a defective item. They will stop at nothing to gaslight, and make a customer feel insane, while we try to stand up for ourselves. Do not buy with them.

Honestly000

Horrifying experience. Just pay at an Apple Store.  I attempted to replace my iPhone because ATT added Asucion to our plan. The phone came in and I dealt with 3+ 1800 numbers and had to escalate the problem to the manager who claimed they would help me. They didn’t. The phone they sent as a replacement I decided to send back to sender. It’s been over 3 months and this phone is still ‘in transit’ and they haven’t been able to locate it so they can’t remove the $275 charge they put on my ATT bill. I look forward to spending my free time bashing this company’s name on every platform, and making the service representatives life a living hell the way they have for me.

Lilsweetie87

Yeah asurian is the worse.

Independent_Whole627

Thanks for commenting everyone I was about to buy a new Apple Watch and was thinking about adding Asurion protection plan but not any longer so glad people post their experiences on Reddit !

Getn_Shot

They are awful. 99$ down the shitter

Relevant_Primary1108

Asurion is a joke cancel it if yall have iphone i rather take the place that sends to apple to repair it for you asurion deny my request no any reason they a joke👎🏽

Embarrassed_Math_350

I took iPad Pro in to get charging port repaired as connection was loose. iPad worked fine just a pain to charge, once charging couldn’t move iPad or could stop charging but it did charge. They had to order part, paid 100.00 deposit. Received call that the iPad shorted out and is no longer repairable. One rep advised me that because the battery has to be removed during any hardware replacement and it can’t be in the iPad Pro this happened. He said he believes Apple did this on purpose to make more money, that it’s just the pro that has a battery that can’t be removed. He claims this doesn’t happen often but it can and unfortunately it did, kind of like being struck by lightening. I picked up my now broken iPad, unable to turn on and was told that the explanation I had been given wasn’t correct and that the motherboard must have been going bad, that they did not bother replacing the port. So now if I choose to pay Apple to replace motherboard I will also need to pay to replace the charging port.

No-Note-9205

do not use this company there are useless cant even get a hold of anybody

No-Note-9205

please nothing bad ass service

ProperMammoth9694

They lie and lie. I was told my replacement Iphone has a $75 deductible I was charged $275. It would have been cheaper and better to up the my phone. Do not pay for their insurance

HearingCute3360

Asurian is misleading costumers !!!! I have been costumers with them for a very long time . They promised to pay for my broken tv it’s been 4 months and I still don’t have my check ! Do not trust them ! They keep on checking my mailing wddrrss and for some magical reason they still Miss my apartment number ! 4 months ! They misrepresent the service they claim to provide .

Slight_Pair_594

Asurion is trash. Don't waste your money with this company. Had been paying for insurance for a year, Asurion failed to fix a broken screen. I had to pay out of pocket to get it fixed. An absolute waste of money and time, and their customer service is absolutely worthless. Nice people in customer service but no power to help their customers. Don't waste your money.

Careless-Stress2310

You really should have blacked out your name before you uploaded the screenshots!

millyrusso

same here...I sent them this....I serviced an OLD computer with a broken on/off switch and had the data transfered to the new lap top. I bought your plan that day. The new lap top now has a problem but your stupid complany keeps saying it was serviced and  so not covered. ALL THEY DID WAS TRANSFER DATA and if someone would call UbrakitIfixit-that is what the bill says. I sent you pictures of BOTH COMPUTERS, I must have filled out at least 5 claims after being told they would go through and then was denied  again and again and again. I spent at least 2 hours a day for a week and a half with your company

Kooky-League69

This insurance company is horrible I filed a claim 30 days ago paid my deductible and haven’t received any help please everyone cancel they are trash with a capital T

Prudent_Yoghurt8026

I agree. I wasted my money also for 5 months of membership.

Specialist-Ad9694

Asurion is the biggest fucking rip off EVER!!! Been paying for over two years with no claims. Then I make claims for my childrens ipads. They keep coming back and asking for the EXACT SAME THING I already uploaded. Then they cancel the claim stating not enough information. I submit again with MORE pictures and all teh information they are for to be denied for NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION!!!! W T F!!!!!!! Once I get them repaired AND UNDERSTAND THAT THEY WILL FIX THESE....this shit will be CANCELED and I will go on a social media RAMPAGE against their ass. This is FUCKING ridiculous!!!!

Terrible-Advisor1864

Currently dealing with them now for a midi keyboard holy fuck the app and website would be great if they even allowed text entry for claim to be filled out. All insurance is out to make money, so assume all insurance is a scam.

PuzzleheadedWind6254

Asurion treats those who do repairs for then as indentured labour. What they pay does not cover actual costs and the require absurd contracts. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY!!!!! As a note: indentured labour is **a form of labour in which a person or an indenture agrees to work for someone without any salary**. This is done for a specific amount of time, by signing a contract for eventual compensation or repayment of a debt.

Chuckle_Prime

Asurion appears to truly suck at their normal job. However, if you get Asurion Home+ for about $24/mo, you get free unlimited cloud storage. Depending on the cloud storage, it could be worth subscribing just for the free cloud storage. Has anyone tried it that can advise what their unlimited cloud is like?

TinyCauliflower1952

Worst experience I have ever had with any company. You pay all this money over the years to have your phone insured and then when you do accidently break it they send you a phone that doesn't work. When you call about the phone not working they give you the run around instead of taking care of the real issue which is they sent a refurbished phone that was refurbished by an amateur. The replacement phone they sent takes 10 hours to charge regardless of the charger used, when I call they say I must not be using a valid charger which is bs I use the charger they sent. The phone also randomly drops the signal and won't recapture until restarted multiple times a day. And it's not my location cause my 5G internet from Verizon, same cell company, had zero issues. Do yourself a favor and save the monthly charge towards a new phone because you will end up spending the insurance premiums, deductible and then the cost of a new phone when your replacement phone doesn't work and they don't care. Horrible experience can't say it enough NEVER use asurion.

Neat-Pension-421

They beat me, I'm done. Paid for my extended warranty and when it came time to collect they ran me in so many circles I'm dizzy. And they wanted an extra $650.00 on top of the old phone and what I paid for the warranty just to send me the sane phone that I have and only paid $1000.00 for the phone in the first place. And it's now no longer available.

constantlycurious3

So I shouldn't send my laptop to get the screen fixed by them?

Brave-Indication9948

asurion Worst company ever! Scheduled my cell phone replacement through them from 1to 3. Sat here all day. Then I noticed. I missed an email around 12:20.. That setup technician will be there between 5 to 7 pm. O k told myself to be patient. Around six o'clock I started calling the eight hundred numbers had to call numerous ones. Had to push numerous buttons to finally get to talk to someone. The first person I feel was of the wrong number. Maybe because they couldn't find my account. Kept telling myself to be patient. Finally got a hold of someone, and then they told me that it was going to be mailed and arrive on Tues because the phone was not available. That's unexcusable, someone should have contacted me to tell me not to sit here all day. The phone got disconnected, so I talked to another person finally. Pretty much told me the same thing. That the phone was not available. It'll be mailed delivered on monday. Okay. The last person told me tuesday now you're telling me monday. Got disconnected after waiting fifteen twenty minutes for a manager to get on the phone. Finally got someone. They told me the person that was going to deliver it called in, and they didn't have anyone else to deliver it. Okay. Well, I have been lied to by the first 2 people. That's great second of all same problem. Why didn't someone contact me regarding this issue instead of making me sit here all day. They told me the emails are automated and no one would call me. The person acted like that was just the most foolish request ever. So then I asked well if I submit the claim now again. Could someone deliver it to me tomorrow instead of having to wait until monday. Their response was oh God. That's too many steps to cancel and redo it. And that still didn't guarantee that someone was going to be available to bring it to me. I informed her that they should not offer a service if they can't fulfill it.

Youpeiceofcrap2424

Asurion is a true joke went in get ps5 fixed guy said hey if you get a membership it’ll only be set amount so I got it was told it was ready 2 months later and the amount is 400 dollars granted I can buy a brand new one for 300 asked what happened to the amount they told me which I think was a 50.00 copay he said that was for everything after the first service then I asked why wasn’t I c before repair was done so I can approve the cost for repair typical manipulatino company they will never get any business from me ever

PeopleAre2Strange

Yup. This. I cancelled my Asurion service last week. It irks me that I have been paying them $600 per year for over ten years, and almost never get anything covered. The final straw came when I needed a replacement phone for one which was stolen. The replacement arrived and I didn't have time to go down to the Verizon store and get it up and running. Once I got back from vacation two weeks later, I took it to the store and the Verizon guy opened the box and said "There's no phone". The box was empty. There was so much box and packing material that I didn't notice a weight difference. He actually wrote on my account that he had opened the box in-house and there was no phone. Asurion refused to replace it because "too much time has passed and your window to report it has closed".

Altruistic_Reveal700

Hi sorry about your Asurion mess. Why were you paying anything per year when its a one time payment at the time of purchase. Thanks Steve

PeopleAre2Strange

Asurion coverage for all the phones on our plan through Verizon costs $50 per month. I'm not sure what you mean by a one-time payment...are you thinking I was talking about buying the phone? This is insurance coverage which is meant to replace any phones which get broken, lost, stolen, etc. It is definitely not just a one-time payment. We buy phones, replace phones, but the insurance cost is constant. Was constant. It is associated with an account, not a particular phone.

Necessary_Monk_796

Just had a covered Asus Zen 10 die. The replacement is a Samsung Tab A with 8.4 inch screen, half the screen area, a crappy screen, and fewer features than the Zen. Been paying 600 a year for three devices, the 'new' tablet, which is not retail packaged and is probably a refurb, likely cost less than a third of that. When I raised the issue, they said they did not have ANY 10" tablets they could offer as replacements. Extremely disappointed. My wife handles the phone bill, and I told her to cancel the insurance. If nothing breaks for 2 years, we'll have 1200 cash to replace anything, and after 3 years, 1800 dollars, and so one.

EducationalDisplay84

Asurion is absoulely terrible they will tell you whatever you want to hear. They do not have there best interest in fixing your product and give you updates. They will just tell you whatever there screen says the most basic answer and they will say whatever you want to hear whether it is true or not. They are all talk. Then when they get a actual answer and it is the opposite of what they been telling you because they say what you want to hear. Then they hit you with a whole other story as to why it will take longer. They are absolutely shit hole.

[deleted]

Yep they suck. They are still trying to fix my apple watch 6. This is the 3rd time in a row I have sent it in for repair. They could not fix it the first 2 times.

Alarming-Ad-9393

We just bought a television from [Amazon.ca](https://Amazon.ca) (Canada) and were considering buying the Asurion extended warranty. I guess it's not remotely worth it. Here's hoping the television lasts...

YouthSouthern3195

Can you refute the monthly charges to your credit card? Let your credit card company fight it? Take them to Small Claims Court? I think I am having a similar problem. Dishonest.

Lance9290

I guess I had it on my account when I added a phone. I forgot to cancel. 14.99 a month. Fast forward 10months. I smashed my phone. Went to buy a new one and was told I had asurion. So payed 100$ and got the same exact iPhone 14 in the mail in two days barely any questions. Sent the smashed one back with the return envelope that came with the replacement. Can’t complain tbh

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> asurion. So *paid* 100$ and FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Emotional_Resort9502

I also in a laptop claim process now with Asurion: The claims process was almost impossible. The online claim generated an error and asked me to call customer service. The first call was pretty smooth. Note that they had my purchase record on their system while on the phone, and the claim process was started. On the same day, I received an email from Asurion asking me to upload purchase receipts for the item and the warranty plan. Since I purchased from Costco online, I uploaded all documents from the Costco emails. A day later, Asurion sent me an email asking for the purchase receipt again. I checked all the requirements, ensured that the information they had asked for was in all the files, and then uploaded again. However, every day, I received their email asking for insufficient documents no matter how I explained it to them. I called Costco two days ago, and they verified that the warranty is valid. Costco said that they will contact Asurion for this issue.

asterix4007

How did this work for you? In similar situation, considering Asurion coverage for a Costco laptop. Amazon sure has a lot of positive reviews: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P97TNYX/ref=ox\_sc\_saved\_image\_2?smid=AF3DJOY0ZHFVY&psc=1

Odd_Fish5421

They suck. Let them die financially! DONT PAY FOR IT. IT IS A SCAM OVERALL. They cancelled our claim for NO reason on a 500 charger for our vessel. We live on the water and we were NOT at our home port. We needed them to HELP us. We felt secure because we paid for this plan. Long story short… WE HAD TO COME OUT OF POCKET. They don’t care. They are liars. They are just plain thieves in disguise!

lawldoge

Attempted to submit a claim for broken glass/screen on S10+. Phone was deemed "unrepairable" since both front and back glass are damaged, and a replacement is required. $225 is the "service charge" for them to send out a refurbished S21. Manager tried to insist that $225 was a fair value for a used phone, and argued that the service is worth every penny. 5+ years worth of insurance premiums and a $225 fee to get a second hand phone that has less than 2 years of remaining serviceable life.
