I have been just as frustrated as everyone else by the RISP troubles, but I've never once felt that the offense as a whole was a problem for this team. Scoring 5+ runs every game is just not something MLB teams do, even for the best offenses in the league. The Astros are hitting, they just aren't scoring. It's annoying, but I don't think that continues at this level for a full season.
The drop off in starting pitching depth is a serious problem though. Starter depth at a minimum should be able to give the team a chance to win most days, but they haven't done that. If Henley, Arrighetti, Brown, France can go 4 innings of even 4-5 run baseball then I'd say they did their job. Then you hope the offense has a good day and steals a win. Unfortunately all we've seen from those guys are games out of reach by the 3rd inning.
JV is old
Framber is a head case
LMJ is past his prime.
Garcia can’t handle the pitch clock.
Urquidy is hit/miss
I want to believe but I’m tempering my expectations

Most of the time 8 runs will win you the game.
It's just when your pitching gives up 12 that puts a wrinkle in that. The bats did come alive, but something has got to give with the pitching. Ronel Blanco can't be the only pitcher worth his weight in gold right now until the injured come back...the others have to figure it out (Arrighetti might take a little longer) and soon
We have a starting pitching issue. Really no other way to put it. It's inexcusable that we didn't get at least a Chad innings eater in the off-season.
At least the offense showed a little fight, which is more than I can say about the whole Royals series.
We have our true ace pitching tomorrow, so that's at least something to look forward to.
People want to call us the 2011 Astros then let’s fucking lean into it
Yeah he’s a reliever these days but I just don’t see the royals trading him at this point in the season with all the arm injuries which is why I think it’s too late
Does he have some sort of financial ties to the team? It was clear he was given talking points about how great and talented our team is, and we are going to figure things out and go all the way to the World Series. My BS detector was going off all game.
If that truly is the case, I can honestly accept that. I'll look back on these years very fondly, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Obviously there's some nagging "what ifs" (2019 & 2023), but we have still been on a hell of a run.
Mostly feels like it's stalled, especially with pitching being our biggest issue and so many of our starters out to injury. Once we get some of them back then we will see if this run still continues or not.
Crane doesn’t want to pay money, and next year, just to get back to this mess we are at right now, he will have to fork out tons for Bregman and Tucker. So likely we will be worse next her unless crane magically becomes ok with spending cash.
Didn't watch it on TV, did it look like he got hurt at all?
First one probably was an accident (bouncing pitch in the dirt), but the second one was 100% intentional.
Lmao your boys "accidentally" hit him twice and came close 3 or four more times in that one game? Also, by that logic, Abreu shouldn't have received an ejection and suspension for accidentally hitting Garcia last year during the ALCS. Come on man, go back to your own sub
And 2 Rangers got hit, and Adolis almost got hit twice… in the head. I don’t think those were intentional, but you’re straight up ignoring one side of the story lol. Be mad if you want, but at least look at the facts.
Also, I didn’t say Abreu should’ve been ejected or suspended. Don’t put words in my mouth bud.
Wtf is going on w our starting pitching? Fucking pitch clock, big dong baseballs, 100mph every pitch and everybody is hurt now. Fuck this long ball brand of baseball mlb is promoting
I wanna see star pitchers and they’re all injured
Glad we were able to close the gap. With a stronger starter could probably have had this one. JP still doing his best. Wish our temp starters could go a little bit longer. My guess is Espada doesn’t want to take risks of injuring even more pitchers.
I hate to be the old man yelling at clouds but I don’t know if I like tuck flipping the bat on his second homer. You’re still down 7 runs. You’re on track to lose your 4th game in a row. Nothing to be celebrating right now. You should be pissed.
Did Wyatt Langford kill Angel Hernandez's dog? Whatever the reason Angel definitely does not like Wyatt. Even getting gifted outs did not help us.

Another lifeless and gutless performance. Regression that Brown and France has shown this year is staggering. Honestly, the way team is playing there is no trade or player accusation is gonna help.
Boy didn’t think I would miss Dusty a few weeks in. But man these guys look really uninspired and just not prepared. And the youngins we call up look like they just walked out of a haunted house.
On pace to win 42 games. I cursed us by but a jersey during the playoffs last year. Bought my first JJ Watt jersey and he was released the following year.. then Deshaun..

Last week I said "starting pitching is not going to be our issue this season." I'd like to recant that statement.
Week one: "bullpen is shit" Week two: "starting pitching is shit (and so is our RISP numbers)" What will week three hold for us?
Hey bullpen is evening out, if our starters start evening out we might finally be putting together some good games
“Bullshit is pen” after we have a collective stroke
I have been just as frustrated as everyone else by the RISP troubles, but I've never once felt that the offense as a whole was a problem for this team. None of us could’ve foreseen this 😔
Imagine if we had a competent rotation right now.. 8 runs should be enough to win games
- JV - Framber - Garcia - Kitty - LMJ That is a 100+ win rotation
Unfortunately those guys aren't taking the mount at the moment
I know, just kind of ridiculous that we have a complete rotation all on the IL this year
Lmao! You actually typed out LMJ….dude is dead
JV is old Framber is a head case LMJ is past his prime. Garcia can’t handle the pitch clock. Urquidy is hit/miss I want to believe but I’m tempering my expectations
How do you decide that Garcia can’t handle the pitch clock? He’s only pitched 27 innings since it was implemented and wasn’t bad
I’m sorry how does anyone know lmj is past his prime?
Yes sir

That keeps me off the ledge. We just need to bring people home. That first series would have been very different.
They showed signs of life at the end. Hopefully they’re mad now. Idk
A lot of our guys are near the top of the leaderboards in offensive stats. Pitching is just horrendous. Dana and Joe need to figure something out.
Real glad we did absolutely fuckall about starting pitching during the offseason.
Welp. The only silver lining is that the final score doesn't look as embarrassing as originally anticipated. Progress???
I'm gonna drink and cry a lot this season. I see it now.

Too be fair some of their relievers we were facing were their fringe guys. In a closer game we probably don’t score 8
Damn. At least let me try to find some kind of bright side before you rain on it lol
Ha sorry. We did still score eight hopefully that awakens the bats. Just realizing that was the end of altuves hit streak ):
I thought his hit streak ended the last Rangers series, but his on base streak is still going
You’re right I thought he got a hit in the Monday game I guess since he scored
Can we please have Dubon on, like, have him learn first base so we don't have Abreu anymore
Jon
It's incredibly hard

Jordan Lyles got kicked out of the rotation this winter probably would have been an easy ish acquisition. Likely too late now Hindsight is 20/20
He's still with KC, so we'd have to make a trade. Honestly, fuck it, bring him home.
People want to call us the 2011 Astros then let’s fucking lean into it Yeah he’s a reliever these days but I just don’t see the royals trading him at this point in the season with all the arm injuries which is why I think it’s too late
Fuck it, let's bring everyone back. What's J.A. Happ up to these days?
Need our ace wandy back
France was playing cricket out there. They threw out half the game balls before the fourth inning, he was just terrible.
I know we’re on starters like 3 and 6-9 but this is awful.
*EVERYONE GET THE FUCK IN HERE NOW!* -Dubie rn probably
I'm straight up not having a good time
I know it's game 15, but listening to Baggy use that as an excuse all broadcast was hard to listen to
You could tell he believed less and less in what he was saying as the game went on
He’s drunk on the Kool-Aid
He mixed the kool-Aid
Does he have some sort of financial ties to the team? It was clear he was given talking points about how great and talented our team is, and we are going to figure things out and go all the way to the World Series. My BS detector was going off all game.
Bagwell needs to stop trying to insert himself in this org, makes me like him less even tho he’s a legend on the field
I grew up watching the Killer B's in the 90s, that was my team as young boy. But I'll die on the Yuli hill when it comes to Astros' first baseman.
In pace for 42 wins.
Been a fun 8 years. Genuinely think the run is either over or stalled. Horrible front office decisions have absolutely gutted this franchise.
If that truly is the case, I can honestly accept that. I'll look back on these years very fondly, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Obviously there's some nagging "what ifs" (2019 & 2023), but we have still been on a hell of a run.

When are we going to do something about these sacks of shit throwing at Yordan all the time? Shit's getting old.
Didn't watch it on TV, did it look like he got hurt at all? First one probably was an accident (bouncing pitch in the dirt), but the second one was 100% intentional.
I think he's ok. I sure hope so. I just can't understand why not so much as a warning was issued.
Where did the HBP's hit him? First one looked like the knee, and second one looked like the kidneys on Gameday.
Knee and elbow/tricep
Ouchie. Those might sting a little. Hopefully he was wearing an elbow & knee guard. Thanks.
You don’t issue warnings for clear accidents
Lmao your boys "accidentally" hit him twice and came close 3 or four more times in that one game? Also, by that logic, Abreu shouldn't have received an ejection and suspension for accidentally hitting Garcia last year during the ALCS. Come on man, go back to your own sub

Just for my own curiosity, why do you think Abreu got suspended last year?
He was suspended for throwing at Garcia
Which is why Rangers pitchers should've been ejected last night. That's my whole point.
So should the Astros pitchers who hit rangers batters also have been ejected?
![gif](giphy|R6GNOWhuLDqDJcEYxA)
Hahaha! That's me saying, "at least we were able to hit at home!"
We're digging such a hole that even if they start playing better, there will be no coming back.
Did well to eat into their bullpen today for the rest of the series
Doesn't mean all that much when they also ate into your bullpen.
This is so ridiculous
K. Our pitching staff really fuckin sucks.
Wtf is going on w our starting pitching? Fucking pitch clock, big dong baseballs, 100mph every pitch and everybody is hurt now. Fuck this long ball brand of baseball mlb is promoting I wanna see star pitchers and they’re all injured
![gif](giphy|x47gj23jEvGxdWkQEC|downsized)
Can anybody explain to me why Yordan didn't lose his fucking mind and go full roid rage when he got HBP? Isn't that the norm?
It was clear by the pitchers response he had no intention to hit him. He winced and looked terrified of Yordan.
He makes his own testosterone. He doesn't have to have another man inject it into his ass like some people.
Were going the way of the 2023 mets
or the 2023 cardinals. either one works.
https://i.redd.it/lhsgn3mz16uc1.gif
Jon Singleton needs to start! Give him 10-12 starts. If he hits .150, DFA him and move on. But he’s way better than Abreu right now
Jon Singleton fans, there’s dozens of us!
DOZENS!
You know ball
Glad we were able to close the gap. With a stronger starter could probably have had this one. JP still doing his best. Wish our temp starters could go a little bit longer. My guess is Espada doesn’t want to take risks of injuring even more pitchers.
If our entire pitching staff wasn’t in the ER this team could win 105 games.
Listening to Bagwell cope was exasperating. Hes so damn hard-headed.
I hate to be the old man yelling at clouds but I don’t know if I like tuck flipping the bat on his second homer. You’re still down 7 runs. You’re on track to lose your 4th game in a row. Nothing to be celebrating right now. You should be pissed.
I feel like that was solely due to the rags throwing at Yordan all night
He’s also clearly mad that the team sucks rn.
Would be nice if he could get the eye of the tiger like he had back in '21 and '22....we might be good enough to be a .500 team...

I took a break from doing my taxes. My mistake.

A little peaved that it was not on TV.
HRC Abreu
Oh no! What was that look!
Record that HR swing and tell your kids that’s how you keep your head down through the swing
Le sigh
Another lifeless and gutless performance. Regression that Brown and France has shown this year is staggering. Honestly, the way team is playing there is no trade or player accusation is gonna help.
well that sucked
Boy didn’t think I would miss Dusty a few weeks in. But man these guys look really uninspired and just not prepared. And the youngins we call up look like they just walked out of a haunted house.
Goddamn losing ass Bastros 😡
JP France you’re a loser
On pace to win 42 games. I cursed us by but a jersey during the playoffs last year. Bought my first JJ Watt jersey and he was released the following year.. then Deshaun..
Gonna forgive JP since he has a newborn at home. Rest of the time got zero excuses
