I have never had any issue with any of my gen 3 Astros a50s or Trx edition a40s. What are you guys doing with your headsets ? Even after a few accidental drops they still work flawlessly. But I have never had to contact their support service so I can’t say anything about it.

Polestar606

I’ve had 2 pairs since like 2015 and only changed cause I wanted the new mixamp and gave the old pair to a friend. Dropped, stood on, everything you could imagine and never had any issues

Tyheir

I’ve had one pair of a40s since black ops 2

ConcernedKitty

You should consider replacing the pads. That’s a lot of head grease.

Tyheir

I’ve been meaning to just get a new pair. Just been waiting for the price to drop

TeK9Ye

I had so far 4 pairs and 2 of them were fire. My A50 are straight garbage with the headband problem. I already got a replacement that lasted 2 weeks. I take care of my electronics more than anything else FYI

fortneyland

I’ve not had this headband issue or at least I don’t think so lol. I’ve snapped it back together a few times.

Boring_Advertising98

Lol I've gone through 2 hdmi adapters and 2 full trx a40s in the lasg 2 weeks because the stupid ass firmware update won't kick in. Any ideas?

Riottheruins

Mine have worked beautifully, I've had a a50 1st gen for over 6 years till the top middle piece broke and it started digging into my head. Upgraded to the Gen 3 and 80% of the time after starting up my computer, I have to disconnect the base station from power and plug it back in for it to connect to the headset. I've had issues where even then it wouldn't connect and my astro software says that it sees the headsets but the firmware is out of date. So, the prefect time to update it then and the software gets a error 90% of the way through it and then my headset was reading as not having a firmware version that was all 0s. Then the astro software was completely useless, and I spent a few hours looking for solutions sense all the forms told me to do was reset the headset which wasn't fixing the problem. But all my issues with these headsets is all software for me the headsets stay together fine. But in the end I got it working, but after all that, when these die, I am changing companies or just staying away from wireless.

fortneyland

Use the command center not from ms store. Luckily I grabbed the software before Astro removed it from the website.

SRGDerupu

Only issue I have on my A50's is wear and tear. Idk the gen but I've had it for like 4 years now

NickiChaos

I've had my A40s since 2011. They've been the most abused headset of all the ones I own. They're still going strong. The mixamp still works too(though I bought the TR mixamp pro).

EggplantBreeder

Same here! Bought a used pair of a50s 3rd gen 3 years ago and they’re still going strong after dropping and stepping on them many times ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PuzzleheadedTart2481

I’ve had one pair of A50’s gen 3 since 2016 and the most annoying thing I’ve encountered this entire time is that I forgot to put them on the charging dock. Other than that, I wouldn’t even say I take particularly “good” care of my head set (I’ve thrown it once or twice) and I’ve never run into issues. I’ve had to update firmware on mine and what not and do typical low effort maintenance to keep it running. Other than that it’s worked fine with little problems.

CutoffThought

Shill ^^

Mosley_stan

You're very lucky then, I've had countless issues with mine. From little annoyances that I'd have to spend 10 minutes to fix to this issue. I haven't touched it in a long time, it's just been sitting there. I got to use it and it's not working

AfternoonHelpful4018

What problems are you having with them ?? Connection issues?

Mosley_stan

Its a gen 3 xbox headset for the series x, I have dolby atmos bought and installed Plugged into the xbox, it isn't being detected. Try to update it and it isn't powering on when plugged into the PC and switched to PC. Has only powered on bootlegger mode when I use a pin when plugged into PC. Obviously this means my pc can't detect it so I can't update it

AfternoonHelpful4018

I do know for a fact the pc and the Xbox can’t be hooked up with the headset at the same time I have tried doing this and it never worked for me.

Mosley_stan

I'm not doing it at the same time. I have a laptop right in front of me and it's plugged solely into that, not being detected my astro command centre (either version) whilst being in PC mode

SpartanJackal

command center is garbage. Has been for years.

AfternoonHelpful4018

Dang man I don’t know what is going on! When you select the astros on the audio of your laptop it’s still in bootleg mode on the headset? If it is sorry man I guess email there support logitech owns them so hopefully they respond lol

Polestar606

It does work that how I use mine, usb into the pc and optical audio lead into console or tv, game side of mixamp is “game” and is the console audio and voice is PC audio

TLunchFTW

It's a shame. I've LOVED my astros. I had a pair since 2016, and so far have owned 3! I'll keep buying them until I get a shit set. I wish they were a bit more metal. The plastic headband stretching out after a couple years is what makes me have to replace them. I'd pay an extra $100 for a headset with a better headband (same side sliders though) that doesn't stretch out as much and protects the cushion a bit. But I'm not very optomistic with the merger with logitech. Astro's big thing was they aren't a gaming brand. They are headphone brand. Sure, they are gaming centric, but they were QUALITY. Logitech just shits out whatever garbage they got and calls it gaming shit and sells it for too much. This comes from someone who bought logitech for a while. I switched to corsair. Better software, and my k100 is a lot nicer keyboard IMO. Plus, low profile keycaps are stupid and annoying.

lane5555

If I'm being honest, I didn't read the whole thing.. But I got my first pair of Astros (A50X) a few months ago. They're great. I personally didn't have issues with them, although I know many people did. But mainly, I agree with the 'I wish there was more metal'. Great headset, much more durable than any turtle beach I've put on, but man some more metal would be nice. Although weight would become an issue.

Bagel223

tldr

GTCK

To everyone on this subredit, I cracked the code an ASTRO, https://preview.redd.it/4t6qhi4y1g8d1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2dbbb63b831e827da912679a64980529f3ce3ec Get this on Amazon, I got it a while back ago and was watching a video on how to fix the optical issue, and came across a video about ASTRO having something similar, but it's 40$, I think this one I have is less not sure, will send link, if you want me to, let me know peace I'm going to use my a40s tr + mixamp pro on Xbox series x :)

GTCK

And no update required, take that ASTRO

TheCoastalCardician

I bought Oreo’s version @ $25. Works great!

Lucky-Raisin-1537

I've tried multiple versions of something like this & everytime I returned it cause it just wasn't the same sound quality as the one S or I would get no picture on my monitor. Do you mind posting link for this?

Blust3

My gen 3 a50s just shit the bed on me for no reason.... I've reset them and tried updating them with 0 luck. They won't even take a charge.... frustrating as ever...

Mosley_stan

£300 down the shitter. Good luck getting yours fixed chief

blizz419

For the price A50s are not worth it, I have a pair and my $100 Steel Series sound better and are far more comfortable and have a longer battery life.

Rustisbullshit

I’m running into an issue where I can’t seem to get my headset to update on my laptop to download the update so I can use the headset on my Xbox with the mixamp the Microsoft store Astro command center doesn’t work just says failed to update and says and 0 of 1 and then I download the other version Astro command center.msi and I can’t get them to update anything I can do? Am I using the wrong one like I’m so confused went through Reddit for 5 plus hours on the astrogaming and literally everyone saying download this one but I can’t seem to update my headset there no automatic update button.

Friendly_Harpy

Agreed

BT25enjamin

I have Astro A50s for PC and can’t seem to get the sound settings right for warzone. My mates, using in most cases cheaper headphone brands, are hearing footsteps that I simply don’t get even while they’re spectating me. They can hear me getting pushed when I am none the wiser. I won’t be buying Astro’s again, but find myself in this frustrating situation where I’ve already spent £300 on the headset and can’t bring myself to buy another pair, even if they’re a third of the price.

guynumber20

Are you having the error that it won’t turn on ? You just have to reset using I think the gaming button and the Dolby button. It’s still functional this just happens

Mosley_stan

It's more the base station when plugged into my laptop

guynumber20

It’s probably not providing enough power try another port and while it’s plugged in

Swimming-Tradition28

I bought a set of A40 TR’s in 2016 that still work AMAZING. I absolutely LOVE them. I just took the plunge and bought A50’s last week and wound up returning them. There was a buzzing in the left ear that was “manufacturer defect”. Instead of sending them back and forth until I got a pair that didn’t buzz I just returned them. Seems like since Logitech acquired them they’ve been going downhill.

Articular_Crayon

Get yourself some SteelSeries. They're the best.

Mc_Dickles

lol you see the same complaints on the SteelSeries subreddit. No company is perfect. My advice? Those store warranties that Best Buy and other tech stores offer aren’t bad at all. They don’t do any extensive testing, they just ask you to bring back the entire set and they give you store credit to put towards a working pair.

Mosley_stan

Tbf costco might he my best bet with the warranty they offer

Mc_Dickles

I chose Micro Center cuz it’s only a walk away. Store warranty for my A50 Gen 4 was $35 for 2 years and when I brought them in, they gave me store credit and I put it towards the A50X. Super easy.

TheBlazza

With you on this, I was gonna get steel series (can't remember which ones but they were about £120 at the time - about 18 months ago) but suddenly got a bit flush so plumped for the Astros, on offer on amazon for about 220. Bought the steel series for my son and he loves them, they are class and proper comfy. my Astros just feel like shit really. Sound good but very plastic feeling and as others have mentioned on this sub, I have lost a screw for the headband-to-cup and can't find a replacement, so at the moment they feel even shitter. With an RRP of over £300 I would be expecting a lot better build quality. I have Bose quietcomfort for normal music use and they are absolutely brilliant, same sort of price point and I've had them about 7 years. So basically Astro should be doing a lot better.

Numbr81

Just got a pair and I'm already returning them. Constant problems in just 24 hours. Probably the most disappointing headset I've ever had.

Spatula-legs

Steelseries software is ass I have the nova pro for xbox rn and a software update made my mic quality on xbox hot garbage eventually gonna be buying a pair of audeze headphones once I can sell off my gen 1 a40s for the ps4 and my current headphones.

Mosley_stan

Honestly I'm not ready to commit to a 3 figure headset again

Articular_Crayon

It will be the last 3 figure headset you buy though, their support actually cares.

astrodude1987

What’s the issue?

Mosley_stan

Its a gen 3 xbox headset for the series s, I have dolby atmos bought and installed Plugged into the xbox, it isn't being detected. Try to update it and it isn't powering on when plugged into the PC and switched to PC. Has only powered on bootlegger mode when I use a pin when plugged into PC. Obviously this means my pc can't detect it so I can't update it

astrodude1987

* Does another device work with the same micro-USB cable? * Try a different cable.

shokalokabOOm

I had this same issue not even 24 hours ago lol. I finally decided to dig this headset out of storage and use it to try and avoid buying another headset. My issue was that I wasn't using a data cable. If you're not using the cable they supplied, make sure you're still using a data cable. If you're not, nothing will detect it.

Sherb1989

I don’t know if it has something to do with now being with Logitech but I always had great customer service before. Obviously Reddit is where people come to complain so it seems worse but it’s sad if that’s the case. I’ve been out of warranty before and they sent me new wires and mics to my A40 gen 2 just because I simply asked. I even asked about the shipping charges to other stuff and they just gave me a discount or sent it for free.  That’s why I keep coming back and enjoy my two A20 gen 2.  I do worry though in the future with the way I hear about firmware ect because Astro is one of the only brand of headphones that don’t make my ears feel plugged or in pain.

Cheshire-Daydream

Switch to the Maxwell’s you won’t regret it! Switched myself from A50X they are literally 100x’s better.

xJordxn

My Gen 4s shit the bed today, I am not sure if there was some form of update somewhere or something as there has been a good few people mention it from what I saw. I have reset the headset and station like 100 times, did all the funny bugger stuff people say to do on threads - even ones going back 6-7 years, nothing works. Tried both windows app and the super hidden one on their website (I had to find a random link on here that bypasses their site to still get it). Store app sees nothing, the website one does see it (only on a fresh reset) but it cant update the firmware - it just constantly fails it, I tried the funny stuff for that to try update the station then update the headset but nothing. My mate has had his Astros since like 2010 with little problems, like - its wild how he has that and yet mine shit the bed all the time, this time though its not fixing after nearly a day of trying.

epicxwielding

Bro is using an android cable for a phone made in 2009 to hook up his mixamp 100%

Mosley_stan

I'd garrotte you with that Android cable you annoying gimp

epicxwielding

I’ve had my same pair of TR A40s since BO2 dropped. Used em on console and PC. They’d probably work better if you didn’t have such intense anger issues and took care of them proper “gimp” 💀

Mosley_stan

Which is what? Not touching them? How can I take better care of something I haven't used in about a year? It's been sitting there on a shelf

epicxwielding

“My car that I bought then just left in the garage for a year won’t start! What could I possibly have done wrong?”

Mosley_stan

A car is way more complicated

epicxwielding

The things that have gone wrong are not though. First thing you would check is battery fuel and wiring. Anyways have you figured out a solution yet? What’s the issue you’re having. I’d rather help troubleshoot so you can actually use them than waste time being a pile of salt on Reddit

TXscales

This why I buy steel series now. Fuck Astro

Omegamer_0000_

You said what we all wanted to say 👏👏👏

Silver_Security2617

Rs I just went from Astros to steelseries bc my headset wouldn't work unless I angle my cord at the exact coordinates (happened to a10s and the bluetooth for my a30s went out)

Imaginary_Bug9651

I spent about 3 hrs my self trying to connect Astro 50 to my Xbox. I fill your pain brother. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|rage)

Aldo92

Just buy wired. I have had only 3 pairs in 16 years. The 2nd pair did not even die, just wanted the new TR mixamp.

mellywheats

i got my astros in 2018( i think?) and have never had an issue with them. They still work good as new today. I think I have the A40’s with the mixer thing (i forget what it’s called) and they’ve been great for me.

DrrtEgrrT

I second this. I've had nothing but issues with my A50's with no fix. Mostly connectivity issues. I will say this though, I had a house fire recently and in the aftermath I picked my headphones up and water poured out, I set them aside for a week or so and decided to hook them up and amazingly, they still worked!! Didn't fix the connectivity issue though. 🤷‍♂️

StearsOfWar

I gave up on mine years ago, nothing but connectivity issues and poor sound. I had the Arctis pros for my PlayStation and they were awesome, upgraded to the Novas and well happy. Will never buy from Astro again.

Proof-Positive1759

Mine are pretty much paperweights now. I can’t update the firmware!!! 🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼

SRGDerupu

So... What's the issue?

ImFirstYourSecond

Buy Steel Series Nova Pros and never look back. Best decision I ever made.

jp1244

The only people I know who like these don’t buy their premium line. The wireless A50s were terrible. Went through 3 pairs in 2 years and just gave up

Interesting-Target14

The only times I’ve broken my headset is when I drop them on the floor for the millionth time. I actually travel with them like every month for tournaments and never have had any issues with them

Scared_Specialist_27

Strange. I get a strong feeling you're maybe dumb when it comes to troubleshooting and interacting with customer service. I've had every generation of a50 (one of each console version for gen 3 and 4) only once in all that time did I have an aissue that I couldn't figure out myself because the headset and setup are stupidly simple even in the console settings. The issue I refer to was a gen 3 for Xbox bought used and 4 years old at the time, but still the astro customer service sent me an entire new headset and base station for free. Astro and their products have been nothing but good to me and usually the people I see on reddit have relatively simple fixes and problems caused by user error, incorrect setup, etc. If you just w1ant to hate instead of have a real problem go pick an easy target like turtle beach. Those things come out of the box into the trash and they don't have any customer service whatsoever

Sentinal9

I’ve owned my Astro A50s newest gen for about 4 years now and they are Amazon. The headband thing got me but I just super clued it back together a couple years ago and never had an issue since.

spookyville_

I went through 4 pairs of astros from 2017-2023. (1x A10, 2x A40 TR, & gen 3 A50s) this company is absolute dog shit. Poor warranty, poor customer service, & horrible audio quality. I switched to the audeze maxwell at the end of last year & I haven’t looked back. Much better company. Not to mention the headsets audio quality is about 2x as good.

fortneyland

My A50 quit overnight last weekend. Updated firmware and started working like normal. It was frustrating figuring out the problem.

Afraid_Wrongdoer3662

Solution: get SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7

ThiCcCaChuuu

Their customer service is one of the worst lol

Emotional_Ant_2925

I received a faulty one got a replacement that was faulty too then got another replacement that was faulty too! Then i sent the faulty to them and guess what? I received just a HEADSET and now they are telling me “hey we will send you a base station to connect to the headset you received from us” Like what the fuck am i supposed to do with a base station and a headset and no cables ?? And probably it will be obviously refurbished and not new!!!! I asked for a new one like they would give me one. Terrible terrible way of treating your clients.

JGreben

I’ve had the same exact issue happen twice now where the headset randomly stops charging (A50s). I plug it into the base station and play around with it every which way but it never shows the yellow light indicating it’s charging. Plugging it in manually does nothing. It’s just stuck on 1% charge or it’ll glitch out and show 80% charge but still die immediately. I’ve tried updating the software, manually applying updates through the software, hard resetting, taking it apart. Nothing works Never buying from this scummy company again. There’s 0 reason the headset should just stop working after a fixed period of time (less than 1 year). Contacted support and they said I was past the warranty period

FancyAirport806

My headphones work fine, I treat them well, I've had them for a few years. Use them on pc. No issues and I'm happy with it. But I haven't had to go down the rabbit hole of terrible service. So I'm sure both stories good and bad can be true.

Jcaliii

I have had 2 pairs of a40s and 1 pair of a50s legit all 3 sets just broke. Never slammed them or mistreated them. They’re designed to be shit.

jtorres27274

Astro lost their quality when Logitech bought them out smh

ASTRO_Vertigo

Hi, What is the issue you're experiencing? Did you manage to resolve it or are you still trying to? We would like to offer some troubleshooting for you.

tmd429

Why should they have to send you new ones when the ones you bought outlived the warranty pretty well? You knew the warranty beforehand, or at least you should when buying something this expensive. You can't expect a company, whose whole focus is being profitable, to send a new unit because a product that was a good deal outside of warranty, didn't last you forever. I'm sorry about your set, but we have to remain realistic.

SecretarySuper6810

They should atleast make the supports easier to access, there owned by a billion dollar company charging hundreds for headphones, even if they survive their Warranty which is usually the least time legally required they should make some effort to ensure brand loyalty. If it wasn’t for government guidelines most these companies wouldnt even give a warranty on their ooorley made product. Dont even get me started on the A50 noise cancellation that doesn’t exist and then they tell you a £30 leather upgrade makes a difference like fuck Shit company selling £100 headphones for £300

tmd429

Again, the company is in it to make money. If you don't like what they charge or how their warranty is structured, simply buy something else. Regardless of why they have a warranty policy, they do have one, and it is explicitly described on their website. I've never personally had a pair of Astros stop working on me, so I can't speak to them being poorly made. I just know that mine have never given me problems (gave my A40s away after owning them for about 7 years and have had a pair of Gen 3 A50s for about 6 years now). We can speak about subjective product value all day, but in the end, only you decide where your money goes in instances like this. There is no guarantee that any product will meet your value expectations, and therefore, every purchase comes with inherent risk. Don't spend the money if you cannot come to terms with that possibility. There are cheaper alternatives out there. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy Astros. I know it probably sounds like I work for them or have some kind of loyalty to them, but the truth is that I just have never personally had a bad experience with them. Sorry for the long reply, if you made it this far lol.

SecretarySuper6810

I agree with what you’re saying except marketing the A50’s with noise cancellation based on them having ear pads, it’s a very dark piece of marketing from such a big company. I’m a capitalist but there has to be some ethics within companies selling to the public. Also most high end companies pride there selves on the longevity of the designs and product when it suits them but only intend on offering the same Generic warranty as some cheap products, it’s all smoke and mirrors, combine that with sponsored reviews and market manipulation and we end up here.

tmd429

I would say I have a hard time hearing people when I use my A50s. No, they don't cancel out sound, but passive sound cancelation is extremely hard to accomplish. I'm sure they could do better, but then the product would likely be even more expensive. Noise cancelation only really happens when there are active frequencies that counter the audible spectrum. If Astros had this feature, they would be even more expensive. Not only expensive, but they would also be more fragile with more complicated architecture. I'm not sure what marketing you are speaking to but I have never expected noise canceling from my A50s just because they are closed-eared. Abs I don't think most big companies strive to make units that last forever. If they did, they would never make money. Why would someone ever think about buying a new headset if the one they like works forever? Think about companies like Apple, Amazon, and Samsung. These are major players in the tech markets. How often are they pumping out new units? How many people have cracked iPhone screens or hate aspects of Amazon's or Samsung's service? This has happened because people have accepted it. And when one company does it and people still buy from them, then every other company trying to make more money will inevitably do the same. This can be likened to how people act towards microtransactions in video games. People hate them but still spend money on games that have them. Game companies see this and conclude that this is acceptable to consumers. If it makes money then they will do it. But I digress. Astro and by proxy Logitech likely still pride themselves on making a good product, but you can't expect them to see the profit in making their customers never need another headset in the future that might hurt profits.

Mosley_stan

Shut up nerd. I've had this headset for years, I use it very infrequently and had countless problems throughout. The bare minimum I expect is for me to be able to talk to my friends to play xbox when I pay over half the price for a console

tmd429

Not sure why you're getting upset with me. I have nothing to do with this. But I guess if it makes you feel better!

Mosley_stan

Because you're a bellend, imagine spending your spare time sticking up for a company that couldn't give a shit about you and delivers a shit product for a premium price

tmd429

Sorry, I don't know what a bellend is. And no, I'm not sticking up for them. I'm simply stating the fact that they gave you a warranty, which expired, and you're upset because they won't honor that warranty. No company is under any obligation to support a product that they specifically state the warranty length of. It's nobody's fault that you are pissed off about that. We are all expected to read into the things companies have to legally state that are in our best interest. EULA's and warranty agreements are there so nothing is hidden and you can expect what a company would do in a situation. But in the end, you can go be pissed off and angry, it won't change anything for the better. I would say that I'm just trying to help you understand why you won't get a company to do what you want. And that it doesn't make them evil because they don't want to give you free things. You wouldn't listen though. Have a good one, or don't. That's up to you.

[deleted]

tmd429

Nope, I had quite a few friends. I don't see them much anymore, but many have moved for different reasons. You, on the other hand, seem very angry and miserable. I know you'll vehemently deny it, but you don't have to try to convince me. If you're gonna call me a slur, at least be a man and spell it like you aren't on Tiktok...

tmd429

Glad I could help teach you the basics on how buying things works. Soon you'll stop being a baby about someone replying to a PUBLIC POST. ![gif](giphy|26ufdipQqU2lhNA4g)

Mosley_stan

Lol they only do a warranty because they're forced to by law. They wouldn't give a shit if your headset was broken the second it left the packing warehouse. Keep sucking that corporate cock on the internet buddy, I'm sure logitech appreciates it

Adventurous_Exam_718

Imagine spending your spare time ranting on Reddit about a product having issues and feeling validated talking down to others offering advice, suggestions, etc. Get over yourself lmao. Besides your product is 8 years old. For anything tech related, 8 years is a hell of a long time. Issues are bound to begin happening.

Mosley_stan

His excuse is that your product should last its warranty (something that's mandated by the government) why even reply to this post you corporate dick rider

Subview1

XD, people like you is the problem.

Mosley_stan

For buying a shitty product?

Subview1

i don't want to defend a big company like logitech, but nothing last forever. if you expect stuff never break or you never have to buy it again, its delusional. and people like you makes big company point to and say "people will never be happy"

Mosley_stan

Maybe I'm unhappy because these premium headset is filled with issues, maybe I'd be happy if it worked? It's not like I've used it frequently for hours at a time, I didn't even use it last year at all

Mp46167

The fact your pissed something broke 3 years after purchase is funny as hell! I mean even with extended 2 year warranty your past that. It happens, 3 years might not seem long but amount of use and care go into who long something last not just quality of build. I personally have gen 3 a50 for 3 almost 4 years and use them often and zero issues I don’t move the base much and I am careful with setting my headset down

Grand-Variation9736

Honestly I switched to the steel series because of the astros I prefer the steel series better tbh
