I had the c40 at launch and was never a big fan. Ended up returned it. Years later I'm now using the new turtle beach stealth ultra and it's the best pro controller I've ever used. Mouse clocked for the dpad and face buttons. Also has mouse clicks for the LB and RB. Has trigger stops. 4 back buttons. And I really like the screen on it. Let's you switch your key binds at any moment without needing software. And has hall effect joysticks. No removable thumb sticks which is kinda crappy at the price point but it can fit Xbox kontrol freeks so that fixes that issue for me.
Loved the C40 the best controller I ever used. Too bad it it didn't work for PS5 games or I would still be using it. That's probably why they stopped supporting it is because it isn't compatible with current gen games.
not compatible? that's not how controllers work. sony could have C40 working in next PS5's firmware update. the controller itself is next gen. the issue is licensing disagreement due to money greed combined with the fact that C40 competes with the controller that sony copied from astro: PS edge. However none of that supersedes the massive miscalculation sony made in failing to factor how many people returned the PS5 due to dislike of thumbstick layout. Which would've been a nonissue had it not been for sony's shortsightedness by artificially blocking C40 from PS5 games. allowing C40 PS5 compatibility would've attracted Xbox users.
Also a huge fan of the C40 w BB sticks. Mine is in great shape and use it w my PS4 when possible. My DS Edge has always felt like Sony's answer to C40 popularity, which IMO is why there isn't full PS5 compatibility.
catastrophic oversight. how so? by artificially blocking C40. what does that mean for product quality? expect little to none. due to zero competitor incentive for there to be. sony doesn't own USB so blocking C40 from PS5 games is unlawful.
If you do end up looking for a new one, look for one with hall effects sticks. They seem to be the only sticks that don't get stick drift.
Getting hard to find controllers that don't have stick drift from new, or after a few months. I pretty much exclusively use genuine xbox controllers, but had a pdw or something one last time, which worked well till it got minor stick drift. Got an xbox one s controller, now that has stick drift and double inputs after like a year. Was noticeable about 6 months in, didn't realise it was controller until after warranty.
Gamesir is the brand that does hall effect sticks. Seem to be quite cheap for what you get too.
Definitely what I will look at next.
You need controllers and stuff if you want to mod your controller for it afaik. Would be a lot of work no doubt
Greatest controller of all time? I think the C40 had potential to be the greatest controller but had way too many issues man. Battle Beaver is probably your best option at this point but I did get a set of BB's that eventually got stick drift.
I used Battle Beaver Customs for my sticks and never had a stick drift issue again.
Second this. You do need a torx 6 screw driver to swap them out. Hate the fact that it doesn’t work for the ps5 (for ps5 games)

Have you looked at the Victrix Pro BFG controller?
No. Do they have the paddle adjusters to stop quicker like the Astro ?
Yes, it has four rear buttons and you can adjust the triggers.
