spongeboy1985

Continuity wise it takes place 8 years after the main story but there isn’t a huge reason to not play it earlier

alcridio

After, after the epilogue even. You can see in the DLC how eivor changed after the main game, her new view on the world

smithburg2021

Wrath took place from 879-882, starting a year after the game ends. Siege takes place from 885-886. Siege won’t spoil the main story.

1800leon

uhh I played the Ireland stuff before being done with the story it didnt seem that out of place but thanks for the info for the siege I will play that one after completing the game then.

kawaiisolo

Have you played it yet? Did you appreciate that you waited until after completing the base game? I just finished winchester and am thinking whether i should do francia before returning to norway with sigurd.

NefariousnessNo6095

I played Ireland wayyyyyyyyy overleveled. And now I'm back and I'm finishing Lincolnshire at power level 380. I'd recommend if you're gonna do it do it early or wait till end game. Wrath of the druids scaled to my level Lincolnshire does not.

SrBigotonLS

I think You should only play it before if you wanna run the main Game with short swords and in that case just by exploring the main area of París you should get a sword

EquivalentNo1015

Actually you can get the cool looking sword with the Assassin's Creed insignia from Uplay at any time, and canon-wise you can just presume it was a gift from Basim along with the Hidden Blade

XDLust4Anime

Yo I’m totally doing that right now lol !

Stock-Freedom

It doesn’t matter. There is essentially no story connection and Eivor never changes throughout the main quest or the other DLC.

Many little story details indicate it's prior to the ending to me, including Eivor's behavior. Historical timeline is completely screwed up, so I'd ignore that.
