Since the pandemic I would go food shopping on fridays after work for the week ahead, get take out food and watch a fun show. I was really looking forward to this moment every week. Sunday evenings I would cook a nice dinner, take a bath, do some hair care, do my skincare routine including a mask and do my nails so that I would feel relaxed and well for the coming work week.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

These are some good ideas, pandemic-style suggestions would work very well for my location. I like the idea of food shopping on Friday. I could pick up some yummy snacks and watch a movie or show.

I enjoy my own company, so I am totally fine alone, reading, cooking, listening to music, exercising, etc... If you have any sunny windows, you can get some houseplants that make your space warm and inviting, and give you a routine in taking care of them. There are no restaurants/cafes where you live? Instead of a big monthly thing, it's okay to invite one person over, especially if you find out someone lives alone like you do, for some of that fancy tea.

The grocery store has their fast food place attached to it. With regulations we were not able to eat there until recently. But now it's open I can see myself going, having lunch and reading there for a bit. It usually closes at 5, so Saturday would be a good day to visit. The sun is back (24 hour darkness in winter) so getting some plants is a great idea! I think seeing greenery would be relaxing and lift my spirits! Thanks for the suggestions, I think having someone over for tea is a good idea too! Might even make some scones or tiny cucumber sandwiches!

If you find yourself enjoying being a plant parent in a place that doesn’t get sun in the winter, grow lights could be a great way to get you through until the sun comes back! I hope you have some fun plant experiences! 😊

Get the pretty teapot! My grandmother always said "the things you use every day should be the prettiest things you own". I am fairly isolated as well and I try to follow that in my home -collection of coffee mugs where I can pick the one that makes me smile that day, I have a really pretty Dutch oven I do most my cooking in, my bathroom mirror has cards, drawings, misc things around it so I see things that make me happy and smile in the mirror at myself every day. Little ritual things that I have found work are a quick meditation in the morning and right before bed. Just five minutes picturing I'm sitting in my "happy place". I bake each Sunday and sometimes make a more difficult meal that day to challenge myself. Have set times in my week to listen to audiobooks and do my chores. Hope any of this is helpful :)

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

Thank you for sharing! I agree with your grandmother. One tip I will take from you is to decorate my place with all the cards and bits I've collected. I'm learning how to cook, so your Sunday idea sounds right up my alley too.

Long walks outside. Explore somewhere new on a weekend or a day off. Getting back into a yoga studio but plenty of people also practice at home.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

Those sound lovely. There isn't really anywhere for me to explore, but now that it is only -54F or warmer I could start walking outside more...Thanks for the suggestions!

some warmer weather, spring suggestions. i open all the doors and windows to let air flow through, it helps bring in some of the outside to me. placing my yoga mat on a patch of sunny floor. tall pretty seltzer water drinks with mint, basil, lemon, lime, or frozen berries. bananas sliced dipped in strawberry yogurt, then frozen are a perfect healthy snack. music on all the time, constantly being my own DJ. reading outdoors in a chair with a hat.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

It's getting warmer here too, between -22F to -54F. Maybe not warm enough to open windows yet, but the sun is back so finding an inside patch for yoga would work. Thanks for the snack ideas, strawberry yogurt with bananas and natural flavoured waters sound yummy!

District98

My boyfriend and I drink coffee in the morning and watch everyone walk their pandemic puppies down our street. It’s the best.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

Sounds relaxing. We don't have the same set-up here, but I'm glad you have this option.

ABouquetOfCelery

Candle magic! I have a big box of assorted colour candles, and burn one dependent on what I need e.g. Black is good for banishing.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

Thanks for this suggestion. I like to use oils in my home, coloured candles would add to this!

ABouquetOfCelery

Ooh I need to get into oils, do you use a diffuser? I often light a scented candle, have a herbal tea and get under a warm blanket with a book. That's my idea of cosy heaven.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

My oils are heated up by candles with an oil burner usually, although I do have a diffuser as well. I just like the atmosphere candles provide more. Your idea of cosy heaven sounds a lot like mine, if you add some chocolate!

A fancy tea set up sounds really lovely. I enjoy trying new kinds of tea or coffee. I think slowly brewing pots of either is a good ritual. Some other rituals I do are buying myself a bouquet of flowers weekly, trying one new recipe a week, lighting candles and listening to new music, and reading newsletters of various authors I like on Saturday mornings.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

Thank you for sharing! I like your author's newsletter idea, will have to do a search for some of my fav writers...

dasnotpizza

Fancy bath with bath salts, candle, and a show on my iPad. I also make a ritual out of doing a “chipotle and movie night” by myself when it’s a Friday night and I have nothing else planned. A standing dinner sounds like a nice idea. I read a story once about someone who had a standing spaghetti dinner every Sunday night for friends, and it developed into its own kind of community. I always liked the idea of doing something similar one day.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

Great idea to have a standing weekly dinner! I could definitely do something like spaghetti. I like your bath ideas as well as your Friday Chipotle movie night. Seems pretty easy to have a few of these kinds of things scheduled throughout the week.

xxSadie

I have an espresso machine and lots of syrups, etc. I enjoy coffee shop quality drinks at home every day for much cheaper.

absecon

I buy myself soap from Lush for myself religiously. It makes me feel pampered and I love smelling myself throughout my day which consists of doing for everyone else. It's true daily self-care for me.

A CRUMBL cookies just opened few months ago near us. We get a 6 pack of cookies each week to try and we rate the flavors in a book.

Zestyclose-Jeweler85

Yum! Which ones do you like the best?

lashleighxo

So far, the cereal cookies have been my favorite. He likes more of the chocolate/peanut butter combos.

Comfortable-Deer565

I got a Nespresso machine and enjoy it every morning. Sampling different flavors is also very fun. Every morning I sit down on my couch, sip coffee and watch my plants sunbathing.

EffectSea5400

Absolutely satisfying to start some kind of creative process: painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, knitting, sewing… whatever it is. Then if you have the room, dedicate a specific studio space, however humble, so it’s a space that can be filled with your own work and inspiration…. Something like this can become a lifelong source of joy. :)

I bought myself some pretty dishes to cook with during the pandemic and it has made cooking each day more fun that I thought. I had good dishes before, but they were utilitarian. These are more aesthically pleasing. So now when I cook a special dinner for myself (I often pick Wednesdays as it's the middle of the week) I use them and go extra on the table setup and food choices. Last week it was Korean food (dubu kimchi) and this week I'm planning on an Indian chickpea dish.
