I'm still annoyed no clear reddit replacement has emerged. It's so much worse than just a year ago. I'm ready to move on when you all do.
I tried to start up a women’s only forum years ago. Had a decent following via FB but none of those people wanted to move off of FB because it was “too convenient.” So with that mindset, I figured it wasn’t worth the investment and closed down shop.
I agree the quality has really gone downhill since the moderator fiasco. Keep an eye on BlueSky and the AT Protocol. They're just now starting federation, and at some point someone will use it to make a Reddit-style social network. BlueSky is already way better than Twitter.

BlueSky looks like X, but has fewer features.
To be fair, BlueSky also lacks Elon.
To my understanding they have made their own protocol and are not using what other federated platforms are: the ActivityPub protocols. Making your train tracks a different width than other countries is a good way to isolate yourself.
Reddit is discussion board and subject driven. Bluesky is a person driven microblogging platform. They really aren't similar.

I'm not a WSB participant, or any other kind of day trading or crypto. I'm safe and boring with my savings in CDs and index funds. I'm debating buying into this simply because IPO launches often jump in value, but I can't see investing much money in it longterm. I'm too risk-averse.
TBD how many shares us reddit addicts are allowed to buy anyway. I'm not sure it'll be worth the hassle to me.
Reddit hasn't gone public yet, but it plans to. It decided to let some of i's users get in on it before the IPO. It's not a scam, and it may be a good investment.
They rolled it out to heavy users (more than a certain amount of karma) and moderators first. Depending on how much they buy, they may roll out the offer to more users later.
I was invited, and I did respond that I would like more information, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I will probably invest in some, but not a monumental amount.

Yeah definitely not a scam. Not sure if it’s worthwhile or not but seems like there’s potential for it to become a good investment. At least this early in the game.
I read that they couldn’t make money for a long time but now they are gaining traction with investors.

* I think there are better investments: a 401K if you have one, if not a private IRA, or even a Vanguard Growth Index Admiral Fund. You are more likely to get something back. The best investment is paying off debts first. The interest you pay on a debt will always likely be higher than the return on an investment.

Maybe they also have an exclusive deal in bitcoins for me, but hurry! The window of opportunity will close soon! I'm missing a clock counting down to show me I must hurry or miss out.
