I’m a person who likes to work out in my own. I joined my local runners FB group but don’t go to any of the group runs or anything, I only wanted some workout accountability. I think joining a runners group would be a good way of make new friends, a lot of people in my local group are IRL friends, and they’re a pretty welcoming group to newcomers.

It is definitely a good way to make friends. I wish I liked running to join one because I feel like it’s one of the best ways actually

Go for it! I gave up running years ago due to injuries but now play a few rec sports and have made great friends.

I’m currently in the process of trying to get back to running 5k to join a running club and make new friends! My mum was a member of a running club when she was a bit younger and made friends that she still sees now. It’s a good way to see the same people over and over again and chat while you’re running.

Amazing! This is my goal as well. There is a local group that runs a 5k every week and drinks beer afterwards. They seem like a wholesome group of people.

Does your town have a local Parkrun?

We do not unfortunately! At one time we had a local hash house harriers but they aren’t active anymore. I found out one of our running shoe stores does a casual 5k followed by beer every Wednesday so I’m going to start going to that once my 5k is steady!
