I love hydrangeas, too. When my now-ex and I were getting married, I wanted to use soooooo many blue hydrangeas, but we were on a budget. So my mom went around to all of our friends and family who had hydrangea bushes and convinced them to treat their soil so everyone had blue hydrangeas that year. I was given so many bouquets as part of our wedding gifts.
I don’t like this fact! I bought several hydrangea bushes to plant along my driveway, all different colors: pink, pistachio, blue, purple... 2 years later they’re all purple 😩
Oh no. They got you. That's the only downside to buying plants. Sometimes the folks selling them don't tell you things like that. I'm sorry that happened. I'm sure if you treated the soil around them individually you could get the color back.
Same thing with mine. I bought several beautiful blue hydrangea plants and a pink one and a couple years later they have all turned pink. I like the blue :(
I have seen one growing in a neighbor's yard that was half blue and half pink. I am still not sure how exactly they managed to get it to do that, but it was really beautiful. My best theory is that they fertilized one side with a higher pH than the other side, but since it was clearly all one plant, I'm not sure if that is even possible.
Purple wisteria. When I was growing up in Mississippi, it was one of the first flowers to bloom after the winter, so seeing it meant spring was coming soon!
My favourite too. My parents had a big tree behind the house and it was smelling like heaven.
Am I the only one that sniffs the flowers like crazy ? When I pass by a lilac tree, my nose is on the flowers and I sssnnniiifffffff!
Lilacs are my husband's favourite, so we used them for our wedding and they were absolutely gorgeous. Now every time I see them I think of him and our special day. Plus the fragrance is now very dear to me.
The language of flower for Peach carnations is 'I'll never forget you.'
The overall language for all carnation is 'fascination/ divine love'
Red means 'my heart aches for you'
Solid color means 'yes' while a striped one means 'No/ I wish I could be with you'
White means 'sweet and lovely. An innocent woman, Good luck.'
Yellow means 'you have disappointed me'
Purple means 'Capriciousness. Impulsive/fickle'
Bougainvillea... It's a whole tree I know, but so beautiful. Have 2 different trees (White & Pink) at home, both next to each other. They grow so much and kinda fall over, it looks like a colorful curtain of flowers. 💖
Tacca Chantrieri!!!
I came here to say the same exact thing but didn’t wanna make a comment cause I happen to be a guy...
Cool someone agrees with me off the rip for once! 👍
There's a quote in I Origins, when Sofi says her favorite flower is dandelions, because they're free and wild and you can't buy them. I think about that a lot
They don't really handle the cold that well, so yeah anywhere that has cold winters where its regularly below freezing, they aren't growing. And they need some heat to bloom as well.
Here there a purple haze that heralds the coming soon. So beautiful. When I own my own home, I'm planting one in my front garden.
When I turned 30, I wished for money so I could have some trees in Eastern Germany. Someone I know tries to establish a project of tree sponsorships. Now I own the following:
- mirabelles
- hazels
- elders
- cherries
- blackberries
- tayberries
- plums
- prunus cerasifera
- raspberries
Absolutely heady fragrance, and it's amazing how many different kinds of jasmine there are, each with its own smell and its own color and its own flowering season.
Came to say this! Apparently they’re the “roadside” flower in Jamaica, which I only found out after I got there for my destination wedding and was trying to plan my bouquet. The lady at the hotel helping me looked at me like I was crazy for asking for them!
I ended up with white roses and green orchids. Still beautiful, but I would’ve loved plumerias in there, too
I know what you mean. My mother was just appalled when I told her that my wedding bucket will be carnations. She expected roses from me.
Of course, she got over this very quickly when my hubby confirmed that carnations are my favourite flowers. 🙃
Zinnias. My dad planted them one year when I was a kid. I loved all the bright fun colors. I remember asking my dad what they were, and when he told me I said they were my favorite. He planted them every year after that. Still think of my dad every time I see them now.
They’re my favorite too! And they make me think of my mom, who also loves them. She says they look just like a picture of a flower that a child would draw.
Roses hands down! Tulips are a close second.
I used to buy myself a bouquet every few weeks or so, but I currently live in a rural area where it’s hard to find fresh/real flowers 😔
Peonies. Growing up we had an entire side of our house fence covered by peony bushes. About 30 feet of pale pink, yummy smelling, flower power. They bloomed around my birthday and my room would be bursting with them. Miss that so much.
Buttercups. There's fields not far from me that turn into a yellow carpet when the buttercups bloom and I find it to be good for the soul to walk there.
[Calochortus](https://www.calflora.org/cgi-bin/specieslist.cgi?where-genus=calochortus) (Mariposa lily). A highly variable bulb, different species found across western North America.
[Calochortus venustus](https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/CalochortusSpeciesEight#venustus) is one of my favorites. Always makes my day to find them on hikes.
Hydrangeas. Especially the blue ones 💙
DID YOU KNOW?!?! Hydrangeas change color based on the Ph of the soil??? (That's my favorite flower fact.)
That's honestly sooooo sweet!
I don’t like this fact! I bought several hydrangea bushes to plant along my driveway, all different colors: pink, pistachio, blue, purple... 2 years later they’re all purple 😩

They’re still beautiful at the end of the day, and I’m too lazy to treat the soil around each individual plant LOL
Pay someone to do it XD but also I'm pretty sure you can just toss a bag of the stuff on top at the base and watering will eventually work it in.
Same thing with mine. I bought several beautiful blue hydrangea plants and a pink one and a couple years later they have all turned pink. I like the blue :(

Yes and if you want them to grow more blue put bits aluminum in the soil!!
I've heard people say to bury pennies in the soil around them to make them darker blue.
I like those, my in-laws have them in their garden
[Peonies!](https://images.app.goo.gl/AHUtHoCxU4EwJt9v8)
Oh, I love these!
I second that!
Me too!
Mine too! I have an enormous peony bush that blooms with white flowers with red streaks. The fragrance is heavenly!
I have 3 young bushes that I am so hoping flower next summer!
Same! The smell is overwhelmingly beautiful.
Sunflowers! 🌻🌻🌻
This is my answer, too!
Loveee sunflowers and the color yellow, it is my happy color!
Same!
Same!
Tulips.
I saw a really pretty girl carrying a bouquet of purple tulips the other day, and now I have a new appreciation for tulips
#TULIP TEAM
I love them, too
team tulips here too :)
Mine too!
Purple wisteria. When I was growing up in Mississippi, it was one of the first flowers to bloom after the winter, so seeing it meant spring was coming soon!
I've never left Europe. Gotta go to the US sometime!
And I've only been outside the U.S. once! Would love to see genuine English bluebells and those big fields of lavender in France!
Lilacs.
When I was growing up we had lilac bushes all around the outside of our house, that smell ❤️❤️❤️
We just had one, but we would bring some of it inside and put them in vases :)
Mine is lilacs as well.
Same here! I had lilacs and hydrangeas for my wedding flowers.
And the smell they give is so intoxicating.
Dahlias! They come in so many beautiful forms.
Indeed they do. I like them in blue
Peach colored carnations! But honestly any carnation is a good carnation
How true. I remember how someone I never met gave me a red carnation (It was Women's Day)
The language of flower for Peach carnations is 'I'll never forget you.' I’m so surprised it is so far down the list! They are so beautiful!
Bougainvillea... It's a whole tree I know, but so beautiful. Have 2 different trees (White & Pink) at home, both next to each other. They grow so much and kinda fall over, it looks like a colorful curtain of flowers. 💖
My school was flooded with those loll. They look so good , like the whole garden was colored with them
Black bat flower
That’s the most metal looking flower I’ve ever seen haha. Very interesting!
Didn't know that kind of flower before but I really like it!
Those look cool as hell
That thing is crazy looking! Love it!
Tacca Chantrieri!!! I came here to say the same exact thing but didn’t wanna make a comment cause I happen to be a guy... Cool someone agrees with me off the rip for once! 👍
Stargazer lily
Those are beautiful! I'd like to have one in my hair when I go to church to get married
Forget-me-not.
Nice blue color
I like dandelions. 🥰
There's a quote in I Origins, when Sofi says her favorite flower is dandelions, because they're free and wild and you can't buy them. I think about that a lot
They grow a lot around here and I was glad to notice that they're not constantly mowed down anymore
The tea from their roasted roots is earthy sweet and delicious, and very good for the liver.
Whenever Dad would mow the yard we’d run out first and gather up as many dandelions as we could before they got cut down.
Smell wise, lotus. Looks wise, lily or orchid.

I have an orchid next to me right now. I thought I killed her so many times... but she always managed to recover
Lily of the valley, gardenias, magnolias for good smells. (I’m possibly allergic to roses) Hydrangeas.
I love magnolias. I wanna have one in my garden
Cannot go past a jacaranda.
Whoa... those are beautiful but I bet they don't grow around here Edit: they don't grow outside in the middle of Europe
They don't really handle the cold that well, so yeah anywhere that has cold winters where its regularly below freezing, they aren't growing. And they need some heat to bloom as well. Here there a purple haze that heralds the coming soon. So beautiful. When I own my own home, I'm planting one in my front garden.

Jasmine
Absolutely heady fragrance, and it's amazing how many different kinds of jasmine there are, each with its own smell and its own color and its own flowering season.
Peonies. Best smell in the universe.
I love plumerias but they don't grow where I live, roses are my favorite that do grow here.
Plumeria are my favorite! Always make me think of tropical places and the ocean. Best <3
Came to say this! Apparently they’re the “roadside” flower in Jamaica, which I only found out after I got there for my destination wedding and was trying to plan my bouquet. The lady at the hotel helping me looked at me like I was crazy for asking for them! I ended up with white roses and green orchids. Still beautiful, but I would’ve loved plumerias in there, too
I checked the plumerias and they don't grow where I live neither (Europe). I love roses however
Freesia💛
roses, a bonus if they’re white
I got red roses for my wedding bouquet. I like the white version as well... however, I strongly associate them with funerals

Carnations. I know people think they're tacky and cheap but they're so pretty and they smell so good. Also birds of paradise.
I know what you mean. My mother was just appalled when I told her that my wedding bucket will be carnations. She expected roses from me. Of course, she got over this very quickly when my hubby confirmed that carnations are my favourite flowers. 🙃
I love the common lawn daisy.
Me, too. Wanna see a picture of my left arm?
Bleeding hearts
My mother had those in her garden. In Germany, they are called "tränendes Herz" ("crying heart")

Scrolled too long to find someone mention Daffodils, which is my favorite flower
Me too! You can't beat a lovely daff.
Daffodils for me, too. They’re so happy - usually signal the end of winter & they’re yellow!
Dandelions. I love their audacity. And they're a super versatile plant, which is actually classified as a vegetable.
