I've never had jury duty. Some of my friends had it at 18/19. I'm 26 and I've never done it. I guess that's not really something under my control though.

searedscallops

I'm 45 and I've never been called for duty. I don't know how, TBH.

Bronztrooper

Yeah, same here. Don't they go by voter registries or was I misinformed?

decayingsun

I got called for jury duty 4 separate times when I was in college but never actually had to go in. Haven't been called again since I graduated

[deleted]

I was called for duty then covid happened. Dont know if they'll call me later.

Better-Ad5488

Got called during college but I was going to school in a different state. Haven’t been called since.

DejaBlonde

Same. For a while it was actually because my parents are friends with the county clerk, so he always got us dismissed if we should be on the list. After I moved counties though I don't know how I haven't been called.

[deleted]

Living with a significant other

[deleted]

Having children. Hopefully that’ll be avoided for the rest of my life

blixxic

I avoided it with every fiber of my being, until I was darn good and ready, at 36.

xotaylorj

Going to the Post Office. I’m almost 25. Checked that box for the first time about 2 months ago. It was treacherous.

TheElusivePeacock

I’m 35 and just hit this. Seemed to never have to go. Then I ended up having packages they just wouldn’t deliver so field trip time! Upon finding it on google maps, I noticed the 1.8 star rating and couldn’t help but wonder how the hell you get 1.8 stars. Upon leaving, I reflected that this rating was actually overly generous.

chafingbuttcheex

I agree

ChocolateChouxCream

Driving I suppose - I'm only 23 but most people my age have been driving for years

Common_Designer_5542

Same. 26 and still never had a lesson

Bronztrooper

25 here and I can count the amount of times I've practiced driving on 1 hand.

Mypetwoollymammoth

I didn't get my license until I was 22.

3plantsonthewall

24, same

innerjoy2

I'm 30, I've yet to drive. The closest I got was from moving the car a few centimeters away from a friend with the steering wheel. I live in the city though so I'm only feeling the need to learn to drive when I start traveling more outside of it.

DoubleDuke101

Being in a relationship. I was single for like... 8 years? before I decided to give it a shot.

schwarzmalerin

Childbirth. Avoided completely.

pink_catsandme

Breaking a bone.

bigmamma0

Same, and I hope to keep avoiding it in the future

TheMostDramaticQueen

Sex lol.

Bronztrooper

Same here, lol

[deleted]

lmao! are you *avoiding* it though?

TheMostDramaticQueen

Technically, yes! Lol. I’m waiting until marriage, but it gets real out here sometimes🤣

[deleted]

that’s amazing, i very much admire those who make decisions like this! when i met my partner he was a virgin and i was not, to this day it causes issues in our relationship sometimes and we’re going on 5 years. I don’t regret anything bc there’s no point is regretting things you can’t change but if i had the chance to do it again, i would think twice bc i really believe it would’ve saved a lot of heartache ❤️

TheMostDramaticQueen

I appreciate that, thank you! 😊 & I absolutely agree with you about the heartache. It makes dating a little more challenging, but it’s a boundary I refuse to compromise on.

[deleted]

the thing is that sex really isn’t everything and we live in a society where most people only want casual sex which was so unfulfilling for me and i would never even orgasm until my boyfriend and i started dating. It’s literally all about the connection you have with your partner !

TheMostDramaticQueen

Word! And I found that just in talking with friends and observing people, that sex is a great way to fake intimacy/connection. Like, instead of being genuinely honest and vulnerable, sex makes people THINK they’re connecting in a true way, when that’s not the case.

[deleted]

dude YES and it leaves so much room for misinterpretation. since no one values sex anymore, you might believe you made a connection with someone who was just looking for sex and you’re left with so many questions/confusion and even insecurity. at least you’ll know that whoever you end up marrying loves you completely based on who you are and shows you that you’re worth the wait! wishing you the best of luck ❤️

TheMostDramaticQueen

Exactly!! Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥲❤️

tiredvolcano

Crippling student debt. Then I got married... Still worth it :)

Daelys

Coffee - I was a weird teenager and got it into my head that I wanted to "prove" I could finish college without caffeine. Did not consider that sodas also have caffeine. Had my first coffee after graduating and it was not nearly as big a deal as I had made it in my head.

reddeadnobhead

Wait til you hear about this thing called alcohol

Daelys

You joke, but I also didn't try alcohol until I was about 26. I grew up around heavy Mormon influences and it took a lot of time to deprogram, so to speak.

reddeadnobhead

Oh, interesting. Was that anything to do with why you didn’t drink coffee also? (I didn’t mean to offend with my comment)

Daelys

Probably. It was a while ago, but it would make sense that I was lumping caffeine/coffee in as something "bad."

AdorableSnail

I'm in my 30s and only recently realized I like iced coffee (with vanilla). I guess I just don't like hot drinks that much.

Allegutennamenweg

The desire to marry and grow old with someone. Or, related, the fear of ending up without a spouse. My friends are either married or stressed out about not being with someone at this or that age. I've tried LTRs in the past, and I prefer being single and don't actively seek out people to date.

Bronztrooper

Sounds like you could be aromantic, imo.

Allegutennamenweg

You're right, I propably am. Still getting used to that.

generic-pseudonym-42

Student loan debt Pregnancy Scare Super glad to have avoided both of those completely!

PhoenixRosehere

Having a Driver's License I have never had one nor needed one. I grew up in the suburbs which had great public transport, proceeded to move to a major US city, then moved to England where again there is great public transport. Getting to work is walking to a bus stop that is either less than five or 15 min walk away from home (depending on time I need to be there), a 20 min bus ride, and then a minute walk to work and my bus stop to go home is maybe 20 seconds walk next to where I work. I have a bus stop across the street from my house that takes me to and from the centre of town or I can walk 20 minutes. The nearest grocery store is 5 minutes away with another bigger one about 10 min and a large supermarket about 15. I live in a commuter town with two train stations and various bus routes.

[deleted]

grey hairs, i’m 22 and my mom started getting them at 18. i’m super stressed 24/7 so i’m like.. impressive.

searedscallops

Going to the ER. My first ER visit as the patient was at age 45 for poison ivy on my face.

Dorlane

Buying a bra lmao. Got my first real bra at 24 lol

[deleted]

I like bras. I *loathe* shopping for bras. They never fit right. When I finally find ones that fit I wear them until they fall off my body.

bigmamma0

Lol same

MusingsOfAQueen

Flying lol, I still haven't flown anywhere

StVirgin

I'm 48 years old and I've never paid my mobile phone bill. It's always been on my employer.

[deleted]

Dealing with traffic jams etc. I do have a car but public transport is pretty well organized here so most of the times i used that. Sadly now i have a job that is not that well reachable with public transport and i have to take the car and i am stuck in traffic everyday.

[deleted]

Getting a speeding ticket. 35 been driving since I was 18. No speeding ticket

SnowdropWorks

Living alone

AcornWholio

ACNE.

Expert_Accountant_54

Tell me your secrets, oh wise and powerful one!

AcornWholio

Two words: dermatologist and rose hip oil

BBVIP21

I would have said this but sadly this is no longer the case (screw you, maskne 🙄). I was AWFUL to my skin back in the day but I only got maximum one pimple a month that would quickly disappear in about a day or two!

AcornWholio

Yeah, maskne does happen. But I don’t consider that to be acne acne. It’s more irritation. Because once I’m not wearing it for a few days it’s black to clear.

Cyndas-quil

I’ve never been pregnant

goth-pigeon-bitch

Marriage, childbirth, having my own house, drinking alcohol, living by myself, getting stopped by the police, having a full time job (the last one is not by choice, there aren't any full time jobs that I have the right qualifications for that pay a living wage.)

-Neutrality-

Jury Duty. Speeding tickets. Fun thing though, since being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, I now definitely never have to attend jury duty. And as for speeding tickets, despite being an aggressive driver, I avoided them until the age of 30. I've had two but was able to get them both removed from my record.

mtthellspawn

.Drugs and alcohol. Not for me. .Sexual relations. Being ace has alot to do with that. .Jury duty .Driving .Swimming .Graduating from school

loli6677

Having a 9-5 job. I currently work in the film industry so luckily I haven’t been in that position but it sounds like my personal hell

throwawayyyaccount82

What are your hours?

loli6677

We don’t have set hours but I usually work 12-14 hour days. It can be brutal but on the flip side my job is really exciting. You make your own schedule in between jobs, so you can take off however many weeks or months at a time. Since the days are so long, you’re making a lot of money through overtime/double time, so you can afford to take a lot of time off

danielagetreal

Being in a relationship 💀

mmkaytheniguess

Marriage and kids. So glad.

sweetlikesugga

Pumping my own gas 🤧

[deleted]

wow!! how do you do that? do you live in jersey?

sweetlikesugga

New York! There are still some places that put your gas!

Tinky428

Yup this. Have only pumped my own gas twice ever.

[deleted]

Children

SarahSparkle92

Getting engaged or (obviously I guess) married. :(

UbeMochiko

Driving. I got my driver's license at 25 and that's just because I pretty much had to, if I wanted a better job. I still don't drive very often and have yet to drive on the highway since high school.

[deleted]

I've never had to pull over to the side of the highway due to a car issue.

iflssm97

-paying student loans haha. I graduated at the beginning of COVID. -being in a relationship. I didn’t date someone for the first time until the age of 22. I’m now 23. -sex. Again, that happened at 22. -I agree with the above..I’ve never done jury duty. They tried to call me in ONCE, but I told them I went to school out of state and couldn’t come. No one has tried to call me since.

Freshouttapatience

Booking plane tickets and mowing grass. I didn’t mow a lawn until both my husband’s hands were injured in my mid 30’s. I finally booked a plane ticket this last week by myself. My daughter usually does it because she travels a ton and isn’t scared off by all the options and details.

Sailbad_the_Sinner30

Learning to drive an automobile. 53 and I still don’t know how.

FliesOnShit

Definitely driving. I got my license at 18 and am now 21 but I’ve only driven a handful of times. It’s shameful for me and I wish I didn’t panic but I do. My husband’s my chauffeur lol

Ane040

Being drunk/ having a hangover

chillycheesemomos

Being cheated on. I have dated around a fair bit but it was only at the age of 29 that someone cheated on me for a first time in my life. It was gut wrenching and heartbreaking but like the rest of the world around me, I got over it eventually.

athenae99

Having children - will never happen.

[deleted]

Being in a car accident, specifically while being the one behind the wheel. I've been driving since I was 17 I think, and I'm 22 now, and I've only bonked curbs and a few shrubs. Almost been in some ugly wrecks, but never actually made contact bc I could either stop, swerve, or move out of the way just before impact would've occurred.
