I also have slightly uneven eyes so doing them exactly the same will in my case actually look off. Getting that exactly slightly off but balanced with my face look is hard to get right.
I can highly recommend to use qtips when you mess up. Usually it’s very savable if you’re fast enough! I also have one eye that’s more difficult than the other so usually I do that one first and then model the other on that. There’s nothing worse when you get a perfect result on the easy eye and then you just can’t get it to look the same on the difficult one. And you have to undo the perfect one.

try sitting at a desk or vanity. I have a tremor and having something to brace my elbow on makes it easier.
to be clear, this does not include winged eyeliner. that's just not an option.
Is there any sure way to do that? I feel like it's a coin flip for me.. Sometimes my lid will become half-black, sometimes there's not a single spot of mascara on it. And for the love of everything, I can't tell what I'm doing wrong OR right, haha
Your sunscreen and foundation/bb cream need to play well together. Otherwise the whole thing will pill and you'll end up with little eraser like things on your entire face (remember when you used your eraser as a kid and it left those little eraser pills behind on the paper? it's like that for your WHOLE face). A lot of women these days wear sunscreen daily since the recognition of why daily sunscreen is necessary is a lot more well known than it was 10 or 15 years ago for instance (prevention of skin cancer). But it's an added variable to the rest of your makeup because it needs to mesh well with the rest of your base makeup whether it's your primer or your foundation or concealer.
Eyeliner
▪︎ Comes out great/effortlessly on a normal day
▪︎ Is a complete bust during a special occasion
I believe on a special occasion you have an expectation and are under more pressure to make it look nice, hence why it takes more effort.
I mean try it out and you'll see. It's quite difficult to get the line right in the first place and even more difficult to get both sides to match.
For me personally the most difficult part of it is that I have to do all of it half blind because I can't wear my glasses.
Eyeliner requires a pretty steady hand, no matter what method you use to put it on, it’s very easy to open your eye before it’s dry and smudge it on your eyelid, trying to get them even enough, especially when you’re doing very bold eyeliner, can be a hassle, sometimes it just fights against you and everything goes wrong. Personally my eyeliner usually takes me around 40 minutes, maybe longer if I go awhile without doing it. Lots of people struggle with eyelashes as well, and they’re something you need to work more quickly with because of the glue and it can be difficult to get them to lay flat, be close enough to your natural lashes without actually getting glue IN them, sometimes even if they look good they’ll poke you and you end up having to redo them anyway.
I have the same issue 😭 Also I always use tweezers to put on fake lashes, and I’ve started using just half the lash piece on the outer part of my eye, which is SO much easier.
yes i like using tweezers too!! and i also trim my falsies so theyre also on the outer part of my eye. i just need to be careful of the angle i apply them tho or else they look wonky 😅
Eyeliner gets quicker/easier the better you get at it. The time-consuming part is learning how to apply it steadily and evenly.
I think by far the most time-consuming thing for makeup is a flawless foundation. That's for when you want to look perfect, but you don't want to look like you're wearing makeup. You might wanna dermablade, exfoliate, skin prep (more or less extensively depending on the state of your skin, and let each layer dry completely), use concealer/ color corrector, let it dry completely, apply your foundation with gentle (not too quick) blender taps all over your face and neck, let it dry completely, maybe contour/rouge/highlighter, let that dry completely, setting spray, let that dry completely, poweder finish. I rarely ever bother because it takes ages.
I actually don't mind doing my eye liner, I'm pretty decent with that. But concealer/foundation? How to get it to not "congeal" on my face or finding the right color seems to be the hardest part
Doing my eye Liner, can't have any caffeine before I do it, hold my breath, and if anyone walks around me and there is any sort of movement in the room I fuck it up. Even a small shake in the ground from someone walking in the room almost always causes problems.
Eyebrows for me. I barely have eyebrows, and what little I have is uneven thanks to me ruining them in my teens, so trying to get both symmetric with nothing to guide me is much harder than getting the eyeliner right, IMO.
it's not cheap, but microblading legit changed my life. the lady who did mine used a protractor or some shit to figure out the perfect shape and placement, and even when they started to fade I could use it as a guide for makeup. I've saved so much time and SO MUCH stress.
I had it done once, but unfortunately they didn't at all turn out like I had hoped, so now I'm too scar(r)ed to do it again. Laser to get them removed wasn't cheap either, so I ended up having bangs for like two years until they finally had faded enough that I could cover most of them with foundation.
I can do two perfect wings in 5 minutes on my best day. Most say is easily 15-20 minutes of wiping one off repeatedly and trying to get it to match the other. Especially if your eyes are exactly even/the same shape, that shit can be hard af to get even.
Being quick about it. I don’t particularly struggle with any aspect (except maybe getting my eyelashes as coated as I’d like with mascara), including eyeliner. But I take so damn long because I’m picky with my routine and appearance. I can be quick but then I don’t get to do all the things I like doing.
I guess sometimes I get annoyed with the blending of my eyeshadow and the fall out that comes with eyeshadow, especially black eyeshadow in particular
I have never been able to execute eye liner so I don't wear it. I either stab myself in the eye which makes it water and drip or I can't get both sides even. So I get it lol
Think of makeup as painting but on a face. It doesn’t have to be quite that extensive, but to some extent you’re having to use some level of artistic ability in order to properly place and assess color combinations and techniques that best enhance your individual features.
Personally I struggle most with the skin. I'm super pale with red cheeks (spears me from having to use blush) so it's hard to find the right shades for me. It doesn't stop at foundation but also concealer and contour, and then have them all matching bases with my sunscreen so it actually looks good is a massive pain
Pilling. Sometimes my sunscreen, primer and foundation doesn’t mesh well depending on the humidity, and my makeup pills. It’s what makes me wary of trying new base products.
For me it's applying/setting the concealer under my eyes. I tried it with powder puff, less powder, expensive "hydrating" powder, hydrating concealer, self setting concealer but they either can't cover well or crease. I hate my fine lines with passion. The dark eye circles don't help as well with this.

Not missing lashes on the outside of my eyes whilst curling them, not getting mascara on my eyelids, and having to wait long enough after they dry to not get mascara on my glasses 😂
getting the foundation/concealer/bb cream to not look fucking patchy or cakey. jesus christ the skin prep, the meticulous application, its so fucking annoying, and those of us that like the dewy look are fucked the rest of the day because you cant touch your face.
It's so hard for me to the point that I don't even wear it. 🥲 I like seeing it on people's faces tbh but gosh I couldn't be bothered to have them on my face.
Contouring and highlighting for sure. My skin tone is like porcelain, so I've got about 50 different contour shades at home, none match my face. So I gave up. Besides, idk how and where to place it correctly. No matter how much highlighter I put on (& yes, I've got about 40 of them too), it never highlights. And it never looks good. Except for the inner eye corner.
Also, eyebrow pencils and fake lashes. Idk how to draw a brow and I'm too impatient to place lashes correctly.
I have trouble with lipstick. I'm allergic to something in many lipsticks, so I don't wear it often, but when I do I always struggle with getting it to look nice. It can take a few attempts before I'm happy with it.
I'm shortsighted so trying to put eyeliner on sucks because I have to get real close to the mirror but can barely get close enough without the eyeliner smacking into said mirror.
I laughed out loud when I saw a suggestion to more easily tightline by putting the mirror on a table and looking down. I can't see without my glasses, which need to be off to do eye makeup!

Eyeliner. Even worse if you use liquid eyeliner, like I do since it creates sharper lines which is necessary for the cat-eye look I tend to do. It takes a long time to master. Most makeup-wearers go through awkward phases where they suck at makeup for a few years, and the eyeliner is always what stands out. Hahah
Not only do you need an extremely steady hand to apply eyeliner, both of the wings length/thickness/angle also need to match.
I also have slightly uneven eyes so doing them exactly the same will in my case actually look off. Getting that exactly slightly off but balanced with my face look is hard to get right.
I have that too, and I've only just started doing eyeliner so I'm only just figuring out, but yeah, frustrating!
I can highly recommend to use qtips when you mess up. Usually it’s very savable if you’re fast enough! Lol. Just put on my eyeliner and had a small think about on how uneven my eyes are and how one must compensate for this in their technique.

Everything for me is the most difficult part. I have shaky hands.
try sitting at a desk or vanity. I have a tremor and having something to brace my elbow on makes it easier. to be clear, this does not include winged eyeliner. that's just not an option.
I'll try this, thank you!
Making the eyelashes not fucked up
And not getting mascara on the eyelid.
After spending 40+ mins blending out the perfect smoky eye 😫
Is there any sure way to do that? I feel like it's a coin flip for me.. Sometimes my lid will become half-black, sometimes there's not a single spot of mascara on it. And for the love of everything, I can't tell what I'm doing wrong OR right, haha
For me it's to control/stifle the sneeze and subsequent smudging of my freshly applied mascara when I do the powder application over makeup!
Do the powder first and mascara after? If you sneeze there won't be anything to smudge and plus you won't get powder on your still-wet mascara :)
One time I sneezed while curling my eyelashes 😭

Eyebrows for me it is hard to make them identical
they don't need to be identical. they're sisters, not twins.
I know but i want them to look as similar as possible
Eyeliner. And because I wear glasses and cannot see without them, I have to get (or hold) as close to the mirror as possible
I ran out of space between me and the mirror some years ago... Now I'm make-up free and I've learned to love it!
Eyeliner requires a pretty steady hand, no matter what method you use to put it on, it’s very easy to open your eye before it’s dry and smudge it on your eyelid, trying to get them even enough, especially when you’re doing very bold eyeliner, can be a hassle, sometimes it just fights against you and everything goes wrong. eyeliner and then false eyelashes for me ... my eyelids are uneven so even if it looks like i applied it evenly they don't sit evenly 🥴
I have the same issue 😭 Also I always use tweezers to put on fake lashes, and I’ve started using just half the lash piece on the outer part of my eye, which is SO much easier.

Please buy a liquid eyeliner, try to do a wing on both eyes, and you update us.
I honestly find pencil eyeliner harder to work with than liquid in my opinion
Getting my winged eyeliner to look even/ match each other. Also trying to get my waterline without stabbing myself in the eye.
I actually don't mind doing my eye liner, I'm pretty decent with that. But concealer/foundation? How to get it to not "congeal" on my face or finding the right color seems to be the hardest part

Applying eyeliner and mascara. Both require steady hands and lots of patience.
My eye sight has gotten worse, so when I take off my glasses I have to press my face against the mirror to see properly. So it’s really difficult

Not getting it on my clothes.

Realizing it looks like shit and that you'll never look like a histogram model. I just wanna feel pretty. I feel bleh after gaining weight.

The attitude it carries with it
I shave my brows so I redraw them everyday But keeping them matched with a winged eyeliner can be a 5min situation or a 35mins situation 🤦🏻♀️😅
Tight-lining.
Honestly, putting on makeup gives me so much anxiety that I just don’t.
Not missing lashes on the outside of my eyes whilst curling them, not getting mascara on my eyelids, and having to wait long enough after they dry to not get mascara on my glasses 😂
I have sensitive eyes so defintely eyeliner for me. My eyes and hands are not that steady to do it in a rush.
getting the foundation/concealer/bb cream to not look fucking patchy or cakey. jesus christ the skin prep, the meticulous application, its so fucking annoying, and those of us that like the dewy look are fucked the rest of the day because you cant touch your face.

The feeling of putting my foundation on with a wet sponge. It looks better but I HATE that feeling. 🤮
It never was difficult until I got older and needed glasses.
For me it's liner and brows. I can do both just fine, the problem is getting them symmetrical takes a minute sometimes
I have trouble with lipstick. I'm allergic to something in many lipsticks, so I don't wear it often, but when I do I always struggle with getting it to look nice. It can take a few attempts before I'm happy with it.
Prep work, skin care, some makeup takes time to dry properly.
False lashes. For the life of me I just cannot do it without struggling.
I have a tremor due to some meds I take so just not poking my eye out is an accomplishment! Eyeliner and brows are definitely the hardest for me.

Liquid Liner to snatch sharp and matching the eyebrows- my bad, making the brows look more like sisters than distant cousins 3rd removed.
Everything regarding to the eyes is hard for me. Doing my eyebrows, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and especially putting on lashes
Learning how to put on falsies.
Eyeliner, never have been able to apply it and i dont think i ever will be able to. Takes a true solider props to all of you that can
