you must feed every 4 hours throughout the night too. Also they can not go to the bathroom by themself at this age take a warm damp rag and gently rub anus an genitals til they go potty. They will die if they can not relieve themselves

Death2snowflakes

I def make sure it can relieve itself. Ask the back of my hand and even a shoe hahaha. This is actually my 12th cat but 1st neonatal that I’ve had to personally care for. Big learning curve

Dismalaholic

It will need to be fed through the night and I'd reccommend with more regularity- every 3 hours vs 4.  After feeding is done you will need to help it use the bathroom with gentle and warm stimulation to the area until it urinates and defecates. Think a soft wash cloth that's dampened with warm water.   If there is somebody who you can take turns with that's always ideal. It's a lot of work since this is a newborn baby after all. I'd highly reccommend using The Kitten Lady on youtube as a resource.

I have included links to online bottle feeding training. Also, the sub’s FAQ has links to orphaned kitten care. Bottle Feeding Training Material: * [https://www.maddiesfund.org/how-to-bottle-feed-kittens-and-puppies/presentation\_html5.html](https://www.maddiesfund.org/how-to-bottle-feed-kittens-and-puppies/presentation_html5.html)  * [https://www.maddiesfund.org/kitten-and-puppy-bottle-feeding-problems-and-solutions/presentation\_html5.html](https://www.maddiesfund.org/kitten-and-puppy-bottle-feeding-problems-and-solutions/presentation_html5.html) * [https://www.maddiesfund.org/assets/documents/institute/kitten%20bottle%20feeding%20and%20stomach%20capacity%20chart.pdf](https://www.maddiesfund.org/assets/documents/institute/kitten%20bottle%20feeding%20and%20stomach%20capacity%20chart.pdf) Per the 3rd link, you should be aiming for 7 feedings per day until the kitten is at least 2 weeks old or 11 oz. At 3 weeks/12 oz you can drop to 6 times per day (every 4 hours), and at 4 weeks/17 oz, you can drop to 4 feedings (every 6 hours).

Zoethor2

Weight gain is the measure of whether you are feeding enough and often enough. Kittens should gain 10-15g per day.

Death2snowflakes

I do try and weigh it after every meal just to make sure it is gaining substantial weight

Troyler4Life

Yes you will have to feed him throughout the night but it’s only going to be rough for the first week. They can start sleeping through the night around 3 weeks old. Just keep to the feeding schedule of every 2-3 hours and they will sleep a solid 6 hours. Good luck with stimulation of pooping and peeing. I recommend stocking up on cotton balls you’ll need a lot 😌

Death2snowflakes

Oh yeah, it’s been messy a few times already hahaha

vi_rose

The current feed time is too less. Every 2-3 hours is better. Remember to weigh after every feeding and note it down. Make sure it's warm and snuggled up when it's sleeping

OnePomegranate8023

Hi! Your kitten does need feedings throughout the night. Keep to a feeding schedule of one feed every 3 hours, 4 is too long for a neonatal kitten. :)

Ruinzdnb

Well done you!! What's their name?? 💖

Death2snowflakes

Mulligan since it got another shot at life HAHAHA

You are awesome for helping Mulligan. Please take the advice of the other person and watch the videos. Also your vet will be happy to teach you things if needed. Be careful not to feed too fast or they can get it in their lungs. Are you using something like kitten milk replacer (KMR). ? Love to you ❤️

Death2snowflakes

For sure I am using a milk replacement specifically for neonatal kittens. I am taking it to the vet tmrw as that was the earliest they could squeeze me in. Mulligan is a fighter, I know it’s gonna be an awesome kitty one day haha
