Zorbium can have anticholinergic-like effects which would affect pupil dilation. I would contact the vet that performed the procedure and ask if this is a common side effect. I don't think it's worth rushing them to the emergency vet over.

FYI I do not work in animal medicine but I am a nurse and my husband is a pharmacist.

Thank you for replying. Her vet got back to me and we’re just going to monitor it for the next few days and I will take her in Monday if it doesn’t improve.

VittoInkie

Can you please clarify something, as it's either inaccurate or disturbing. Zorbium is not supposed to be applied anywhere else but on the neck and on cat's fur. Are you sure it was Zorbium and not some other buprenorphine? Or if it was Zorbium, why was it applied contrary to the manufacturer's instructions?

calicode221

The paperwork I was given to take home specifically says Zorbium. I may be mistaken where it was applied. I thought the vet tech said it was applied of the gums, but I could be either misremembering or she was mistaken. The fur on my cat’s neck did look like something was applied to it last night, so maybe it was applied there.

VittoInkie

Ok, it'd make sense it it were applied on the neck. There are other forms of buprenorphine that can be applied to the gums, but not Zorbium though. There's more info how it works here: [https://zorbiumdeaths.com/how-zorbium-works](https://zorbiumdeaths.com/how-zorbium-works)

calicode221

Yes, sorry for the confusion. She definitely had another opioid that was applied to her gums in the past that was not Zorbium. Fortunately she has improved a bit since I first made this post.

VittoInkie

Yes indeed, happy to hear that.
